For sure. Unless it is in sheer agony or brain dead. Don't.
I think people forget that life adapts. I would rather live a horrible life then not exist at all. I had a shitty early life compared to others in America, but it was the only life I knew. I still could be happy, excited, and enjoy the tiny things I did have.
It is like have you seen animals off themselves? I doubt you have.
They will live, and struggle till on their death bed. Then they usually go to a place to die.
I think people who put animals down like that are doing it for themselves, because they cannot be bothered or want to pay. (Or cant pay which I think is the only reason to do it. Then you try to find someone who can).
A life born into a bad place does not know any better. Remember that you pootiedown people.

Deformed or disfigured doesn't necessarily mean suffering. I second the person saying take them to an exotics vet and get them checked out. Maybe even a few vets so you can get several opinions.
If there's no obvious impairment to eating, breathing, digestion, defecation, and all that stuff, then give them a chance. They might require special care, but then so do hundreds and hundreds of pets out there.

I need ppl to do smth. Take "two headed turtle" & replace "turtle" with "person" (i.e. conjoined twins) & consider if putting them to sleep before seeing if their organs are developing correctly & they can live a healthy life (albeit with some handicaps) is still the "humane" thing, or if you just want to have an artificial ethical moral high ground.
Like, if the turtle's organs are messed up & they're in constant pain & might die anyway, & a vet is saying they can't do anything, sure, putting them down is humane.
But if you have no clue what this turtle is like, how it reacts to external stimuli, how it's developing, how it's respond to its diet, etc, but are screeching to put it down anyway, you don't want what's best for the turtle, you want what's best for your sense of superiority

When a human has a deformity, you dont usually put them down unless it is severe, in which case they usually die on their own, so why should it be any different. Their is literally no sign that they're suffering other than figuring out how to coordinate.

ableism is ingrained in our society. people’s attitudes towards disability are best on display with non-human examples - people see other animals out of the genetic norm, who are unable to communicate with us, and assume that they *must* be in the depths of suffering and even want be killed. no trying to fight for their wellbeing and adapt to their condition at all. it’s about getting rid of something that makes them uncomfortable. the only reason it’s not entirely the same with humans is because they can actually try to scream, but people have expressed basically the same with other humans too, particularly if they’re someone else’s child as there’s no ‘proof’ they put up with their condition till adulthood. ableism is a form of discrimination, vastly mocked for being some new-age made-up thing, but in truth pointing it out makes people uncomfortable. and yet whose seriousness means that once you’re a human even slightly out of ‘norm’, you’re no longer seen as human.

From what i know from preserved specimens, many conjoined animals don't live very long. But early death isn't always guaranteed. It tends to be impacted by what specific parts are connected and how many organs are split between the two. Testing to see how they are developing would be a great idea. If everything checks out fine, you'd probably still have to give them a bit extra care.
Whenever they do happen to pass young or old, I would highly recommend donating their body to science to help study conjoined systems.

I'm a disabled person, and those comments are a solid reflection of how folks view the disabled in general. That animal is clearly not in misery, so it's not about "putting it out of its misery," it's about getting rid of something that makes them uncomfortable. They think death is preferable to living in a body that's different. It's honorable the way you value all life, even the unconventional ones.

Sometimes, putting down is the best thing for an animal, but there are a lot of vets who do it almost too easily. And the number of stories of people who refused to give up on the animal and the animal recovering show that there is hope. Not all stories will have such a good ending, but I think these turtles seem like they can survive, it's just gonna take longer for them to figure out how to adapt to the world.

It’s still not the biggest shot, but reptiles have a much better time adapting so honestly the best course of action would probably be to keep it, and just don’t put super expensive care into it, treat it like a normal turtle. Let it live, if it dies, that is to be expected, if it lives, happy surprise.

If they've made it this far odds are with proper care they'll survive for quite a while. Plus they seem pretty happy.

I have a one eyed cockatiel, and most people I've heard saying you should put down an animal because it's "crippled" either feel like they're not esthetically pleasing or feel like they're not worth it. Don't listen to them.

Having listened to the song a few times, I have to say that this is my favourite TFR release of the year. It's multilayered, consistently evolving, and has callbacks to previous bangers. I love the trumpet + sax bit at 1:30, the vocals are angelic, and the 2:22 drop is awesome.
10/10 Thank you so much for creating such transcendental pieces 💙💜

People morbidly seem to lean toward recommending putting animals down. They seem to forget that sometimes we go through hard medical times, but still come through and enjoy life at the end.

They seem like they're chilling, like unless the x rays show they have stuff going on that will tank their quality of life there's no reason to put them down. People don't realize it but the speed at which someone will jump to say a disabled animal should be put down reveals a lot about what they think about disability overall.
