Just this one substantive interview with Matty can replace a thousand radio station or festival interviews. Eddy Temple-Morris being a new fan having just discovered the band-had this giddiness that all The 1975 fans can relate to-very endearing.
I was just introduced to The 1975 a couple months ago. I know, sad that it took so long. I’ve been down The 1975 rabbit hole ever since. I want to know everything. I just love Matty.
1975 Won me over too!! I am 66 years old and I am crazy about this band and their writing and views on the world!! I am lucky to be able to see them this November 2023🥰❤ Matty I love you 😍 dearly!!!
I LOVED THIS INTERVIEW!!! Honestly so in-depth and brilliant, amazing questions being asked. You could tell how comfortable and happy Matty was around Eddy and the fact he didn't care if he run over time, which is very unusual for Matty, I loved the so much. Honestly.
I used to like the 1975, but after I went to one of their concerts last month I freaking love theeem, the energy this guy has is just so contagious, it was provably one of the best moments of my life.
I liked Chocolate when it first came out but it wasn't until the middle of 2016 when I heard The Sound that I actually sat down and listened to both albums and loooved it. But I went and saw them at The Forum in LA in Oct 2016 that I was like oh, this is my favorite band. And they still are.
This is by far the best musical interview I have ever watched. hands down. fantastic questions, commentary, and the insight on both parties is just off the charts. i am so impressed and even more understanding and in love with this album, with this brilliant mind, just with music. jesus.
It would be amazing to just be friends with Matty to just sit with him & just listen to him, hear him out uno & let his great mind chat away, a great human, so glad he's well & doing good now, keep on Matty & good luck man. 💙
Matty talks like how i talk when i go for interviews. when i’m nervous and my thoughts are everywhere, i cant find the right words to say and i can’t phrase my sentences properly. like i need time to think about everything to properly put it in sentences.
Tigris 797 i think he’s definitely concerned with wording things to the fullest extent he can and trying to find meaning with everything and anything he can. he’s such a complex human being he can barely even finish a thought without continuing the next one- he has so much he wants to say because he just never stops thinking.
I feel like I've come away from this interview knowing Matty much better than I did before. Before "A Brief Inquiry" Matty's honesty in his music always seemed to be juxtaposed with his secrecy in life; in his relationships, the meanings behind some of his more personal songs, and even his day to day routine. It always felt like he was keeping secrets from the fans. But he really laid himself and his thought process bare in this interview and I'm so grateful for it. I'm so grateful that Matty, George, Ross, and Adam decided to make an album that accurately reflected what it's like to be an artist, a fan, and a human in general. This band, and Matty himself, are truly something special.
Im 58,I came in on "I'd love it if we made it" and I've been watching 1975 videos/interviews now for 2days! When the interviewer mentioned Steely Dan right away I dropped my phone.Steely Dan being my favorite band ever. This is such a great intelligent interview of a great young intelligent artist!
It was so refreshing to see music fans talk so thoroughly about music. Matty is on such a high level when it comes to tunes. He loves music and the host was fantastic, well versed about melodies, producing. Such a raw interview. Was great
i watched this when it was new and i’m still coming back to this , this is the most genuine , well presented, most emotionally connected and intelligent interview i have EVER come across. you can tell the interviewer is so completely enthralled and genuinely excited. I JUST WANT INTERVIEWS TO BE LIKE THIS .
I’m trying to recall two people bonding in an interview this way...where it stops being an interview free of motives and becomes earnest sharing. I bet Matty walked away feeling really connected, and fulfilled musically as well. So cool.
Their music has gotten me through many moments in life, following them for 6 years now. I treated myself to front row tickets to their show in New York in early July. Listening to this 54 minute breakdown of all of the work put into their recent album and their sources of inspiration humbles me and is pumping me up for one of the greatest nights I'll have 💖 Whether or not you favor their style of music, you cannot deny the raw emotion drawn/demanded from their music ( the only true objective of any art form)
Okay I'll be honest. Their earlier stuff isn't really my cup of tea but I absolutely love this album and I've always loved them as a band. Artistically and creatively, they are amazing.
the intro track serves the same purpose as the long intro to star wars- it's like gearing you up to enter the mindstate of what you're about to get into; it's also familiar
i literally JUST started listening to the 1975 and this album is quickly climbing up to be one of my most favourite albums of all time. Dude, I'm from India and I'd never get to see these guys live maybe but just listening to this interview and how the whole process unraveled for them is such a blessing. Eddy, thanks a ton for this interview! Your energy and enthusiasm also took this interview to another level!! Thank You!!
I come back to this a lot. Watch it and admire him. Now I’m putting this here I am not sure that I will be here after 2024. Not a cry for help, nor is it a “oh look here” I’m honestly not good I’ve followed this man since I was 16 I’ve copied him in principle and self think g it’s was good. Learning that and growing out of that. I’ve found that the world outside myself is now evil. I’ve achieved my dreams somewhat. And life was good. Losing my two most important women in my life was the kicker. I come back to this thinking i can overcome. We are now in January. I survived 2023, just. Stopping myself. NYE 2023. Losing interactions and interest in things. Music and media really is the thing. Typing this while crying and high. I’m 3
31 now I hope I can come back to this and say alright. Yeah, I’ve done it. See you 1975 fans at the o2 in feb 2024 and we can cry. But you won’t know who I’d be. We are “ I am this person that will enjoy it” you’ll never meet me. I hope we can and be just ‘there’

MARK SOUTHALL thanks Mark that’s really cool of you 🙏 eddy
Honestly.
ClashingEdge thanks so much x
This album is a masterpiece. Will genuinely be thought of as pure genius 20 years from now.
I fall in love with this band more and more every year ❤️❤️❤️
This is the best interview I’ve ever seen.
"Life is the ultimate gag" - ha! He's right.
the world does not deserve you matty
extraordinary young man
I used to like the 1975, but after I went to one of their concerts last month I freaking love theeem, the energy this guy has is just so contagious, it was provably one of the best moments of my life.
I liked Chocolate when it first came out but it wasn't until the middle of 2016 when I heard The Sound that I actually sat down and listened to both albums and loooved it. But I went and saw them at The Forum in LA in Oct 2016 that I was like oh, this is my favorite band. And they still are.
This is by far the best musical interview I have ever watched. hands down. fantastic questions, commentary, and the insight on both parties is just off the charts. i am so impressed and even more understanding and in love with this album, with this brilliant mind, just with music. jesus.
Emma Furrier wow that’s amazing. Thank you so much. 🙏
It would be amazing to just be friends with Matty to just sit with him & just listen to him, hear him out uno & let his great mind chat away, a great human, so glad he's well & doing good now, keep on Matty & good luck man. 💙
I feel like this acted as therapy for the interviewer.
omg I a actually cried at the end. The whole interview was so so good and then the ending got me😭
Matty talks like how i talk when i go for interviews. when i’m nervous and my thoughts are everywhere, i cant find the right words to say and i can’t phrase my sentences properly. like i need time to think about everything to properly put it in sentences.
Was great
this is my random comfort obscure yt video
Two people being absolutely hyped by their love for music and I am here watching this and crying out of excitement!
"Sometimes things can be so beautiful for me that they're heartbreaking" I felt that
I honestly love the seeing someone my age be so incredibly enthusiastic and enthralled with this band. Good music is ageless.
he struggled not to say juxtaposition at 8:35
haha I I remember his old interviews lol
The way he’s swinging the mug around when he’s talking so passionately 😂😂😂
i watched this when it was new and i’m still coming back to this , this is the most genuine , well presented, most emotionally connected and intelligent interview i have EVER come across. you can tell the interviewer is so completely enthralled and genuinely excited. I JUST WANT INTERVIEWS TO BE LIKE THIS .
this is the best interview i have ever seen with any artist, ever
I’m trying to recall two people bonding in an interview this way...where it stops being an interview free of motives and becomes earnest sharing. I bet Matty walked away feeling really connected, and fulfilled musically as well. So cool.
Mike Henkelman thank you Mike. 🙏
This is so pure what the heck. So proud and happy for Matty and the lads.
Their music has gotten me through many moments in life, following them for 6 years now. I treated myself to front row tickets to their show in New York in early July. Listening to this 54 minute breakdown of all of the work put into their recent album and their sources of inspiration humbles me and is pumping me up for one of the greatest nights I'll have 💖
Whether or not you favor their style of music, you cannot deny the raw emotion drawn/demanded from their music ( the only true objective of any art form)
I literally idolise this man so much. Like I have so much respect for him I swear he’s sent from heaven 😩
Okay I'll be honest. Their earlier stuff isn't really my cup of tea but I absolutely love this album and I've always loved them as a band. Artistically and creatively, they are amazing.
Matty is so sweet and humble, I love it.
I could listen to him talk for hours and never get sick of it
Top top interview Eddy. Nice to see some genuine enthusiasm for a subject's subject.
This guy continues to blow me away, WOW.
the intro track serves the same purpose as the long intro to star wars- it's like gearing you up to enter the mindstate of what you're about to get into; it's also familiar
genius... he always leaves me breathless when he speaks. His mind is absolutely brilliant.
i literally JUST started listening to the 1975 and this album is quickly climbing up to be one of my most favourite albums of all time.
I hope we can and be just ‘there’
@@harryjamessmith7847 I wish you well, wishing you strengh and love
Juxtapo- idea
