Imam Malik bin Anas the Imam of Darul Hijra Rahimahullah, one of the giants of the UMMA of Nabi sallallaho alayhi wa sallam in Fiqh and Ahadeeth and the founder of the Maliki school of Jurispurudence compiled his Muwatta and 70 Shaykhs of Madina attested to its veracity. It caputures the Fatawa of the Fuqaha of Madinah Munawwarra.
Shah Waliullah Rahimahullah himself says that observing the excessive differences and groups among the scholars and after dua, Allah Ta'laa guided him to the Muwatta. In his Musawwa or the commentary of Muwatta, he rearranged the order of the ahaadeeth, added verses of the Quran to show the link between the Quran and Sunnah.
Mawlana Ubaydullah Sindhi Rahimahullah of the early 20th century, considered the Muwatta a complete and easy syllabus for Muslims of the practices of Islam and way to introduce non-Muslims to the same.
