After reading Mick’s full statement on all the bullshit he had to deal with, I’m glad this video exists to come back to. I’m beyond disappointed with how he was treated by Marty Stratton and id Software. I hope he gets justice at some point.
I love that the soundtrack mirrors the game's evolution. DOOM 2016 was amazing, and the soundtrack had some bangers. But in my opinion (as someone who sunk about 1000 hours into each game), is that DOOM Eternal evolved the franchise and the genre in so many ways- movement, speed, tension, destructible enemies, sound and feedback, environment, etc. Eternal's soundtrack accomplished the same level of evolution, to the point that I can't make up my mind which track is my favorite, and it's like a six-way tie. Mick is the GOAT (and Levy/Hulshult aren't a bad consolation prize, either)
@@IconOfSin I honestly have the same list but with also skullhacker I personally like eternal soundtrack more but i think that 2016 soundtrack is more polished but i love them both tho.
The amazing work of mick gordon making the sounds of chainsaws, chains, and gunshots into absolute metal. In super gore nest (I think 19:30ish) you can hear what sounds like a chainsaw revving in the background. Same with The Only Thing They fear is You. (22:00) ish. And 29:00 sounds like chains banging in the background along with the heavy cannon firing in slow motion with a classic PING per bullet fired. Mick Gordon is truly a man of music and METAL.

It's a shame Mick Gordon didn't get to release a fully polished soundtrack for Eternal. Your version is phenomenal but one from Mick would have been something special. It's clear that he puts tremendous effort in his work and in no universe would he release the sub-par mix that was released initially. id software had captured lightning in a bottle with Mick and id software's mismanagement squandered it.
A man who giggles while sneaking pentagrams and 666s into a Doom game's sound files doesn't release a soundtrack with unsynchronized stereo channels. Those claims against him in the Reddit post were incredible from the beginning. I hope he gets the recognition he deserves and goes on to make more awesome music.
Kinda saw it coming. Not the extent of the mismanagement, but I assumed most of the fault was ID And Bethesda. Didn't really have much reason to outside of Mick Gordon just doesn't seem like the type of guy Marty and ID tried to present him as. He seems really passionate about his work, especially on the DOOM franchise.
