Truly a fantastic anime movie and I feel like there should be an actual remake of this movie with real people so that people who dont like watching anime also watch it. This is easily a 10/10 in my book.
I think a lot of what makes this movie special is the subtleties animation brings too it. I would suggest anybody who has not read the manga to go check it out it is very good and also it goes indepth into all the characters more so than the movie.
Everything in this movie is incredible. The music, the use of a shaking camera, the use of slow motion, the attention to detail, the characters, the animation (the animation on the characters facial expressions especially), the story, the voice acting, it all works impeccable. I watched this movie in the dub, and I have never seen a movie before where I can name 10+ scenes thats got me emotional. 3 scenes in particular almost made me break down crying when I watched it for the first time. By the time I had finished the movie I knew that I had just witnessed a masterpiece. 10/10 movie.
I like that you pointed out that the teacher was responsible for what was going on at the school, I've watched sooo many reviews about this movie and people rarely point out the teachers wrong doings.. Great video!
I think the music in this movie is half of its success. The music is Brilliant, the opening bridge scene plays the song "frc" its calm and peaceful noises played in an uneasy way. And later on as Shoya walks to Nishimiya's house, my god, the slow build up, playful cheerful noises, erratic like fireworks then on to the best part of the film the culmination, the final beat unravels as Shoya starts accepting himself and can live again bring himself and the viewer to tears.

Jesus Christ this movie. I watched it yesterday and I'm itching to watch it again. I love it when a story looks at all characters from a sympathetic view no matter how complicated and seemingly unlikable they are. I love the themes of self-forgiveness and most of all I love both the main characters as flawed as they may be. The movie left me wanting so much more (which imo is a testament to great writing). Their relationship to me was absolutely adorable. I 100% believe Ishida was about to admit to himself that he loves her before he was cut off by his fall in the suicide scene. I'm not even usually a fan of anime, but my god do I love this movie.
You just took the words out if my mouth I totally agree with the fact that I can't really watch something unless it's REALLY good and it's pretty rare to get accurate representation of mental illness so I'm definitely going to rewatch this movie x)

You deserve way more subs, this video is so professional, the voice over, commentary and editing. Also THANK YOU for adding in treasure planet, the underrated gem that it is
The opening - he is planning/rehearsing in his head still - the "final day" was still coming up on the calendar; but first he has to be "content" that Shoko is going to be fine without him and "maybe" she would give him forgiveness. The fireworks is foreshadowing likely, but also it breaks his attention to to basically get out of his daydream (planning). His intention in the original meeting was to "tie up ends" the best he could - BUT he unexpected asks to be her friend (which is a relationship question - which messes up his plan to end his life). Why he asks that question is worth pondering - I believe it has something to do with his brain realizing she was saying that to him over and over years ago and tying it together - basically seeing her he acted it out but really it was him awaking up to her desire for it all those years ago; perhaps cued by her asking about him learning to sign and his mind thinking of her and her signing in the past. Very good video and insight as well.

I also think that's it a masterpiece. It also speaks to me on so many levels and I can't stop crying everytime I see it but... I gotta confess. Shoya makes me laugh everytime he mocks Shoko by reading the book in Shoko's voice. But now it's tears mixed up with laugh because I feel bad for laughing at this. x) Someone tell me I'm not the only one.
I absolutely hate kawaii, those goody two shoes are the worst and the teacher I always wonder why no one blamed him for his indifference, finally someone did
I feel that. Him being a kid definitely makes you understand him and you can see why he was acting out, but its still shitty. I feel that the movie strikes a good balance for the theme of forgiveness to be explored.
On a more serious note, I will say this. I genuinely dislike the ending of this movie, especially the moment where the X's fall. This is because it doesn't happen like that at all. They fall individually and it's not in one go either and like you stated yourself, it sometimes randomly just comes back again. Koe no Katachi focuses on bullying and growing up around a deaf person. The mental trauma side is handled in a little hamfisted way in my opinion. If you really want to get those X's out of your life, you have to follow Nietzsche, build up your own values and foundations up from nothing. When you do this, when you have your own values, there is nothing that others can say, or do to shake that foundation and you can root yourself on that foundation when your brain tries to go on a 'self-loathing tour'. It gives you tools to fight these moments all on your own. Note, I'm not saying you shouldn't rely on friends, or that they're not helpful, or anything like that. They are still extremely important and allow you to handle these fights even better.
I dont really keep it updated. Just not a platform I really vibe with, I hope to eventually get most of the stuff I feel strongly about documented on here
It just vibes well with me. The animation is really pretty and it can be like just a nice comforting show. Not like objectively the best show but in general just cool vibes and thats what I like watching rn
Moonlight, Burning, treasure planet and a bit of clips from the show the get down. I might make videos on them in the future but when I was making this video A Silent Voice was just taking up the most real estate in my brain
You are saying that you have such moments as Ishida and you have friends who care about you and all. But I have a question for You; What are you supposed to do if you don't have such friends or friends at all? No, I am not trying to hate Your video. The video is amazing. Got some stuff in the works rn. Been kind of a rough time so I couldnt keep the schedule I wanted but hope youll stay tuned for my next video

Will be waiting!
Do you have a anilist
I dont really keep it updated. Just not a platform I really vibe with, I hope to eventually get most of the stuff I feel strongly about documented on here
What's your favourite anime though?
Tough question for me rn. Im not quite sure but a few of my favs have been Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad, FLCL and Beyond the Boundary
It definitely changes frequently tho depending on my mood.
@@chunklate4136
Is beyond the boundary that good?
I know it's a Kyoto animation show I might check it out
It just vibes well with me. The animation is really pretty and it can be like just a nice comforting show. Not like objectively the best show but in general just cool vibes and thats what I like watching rn
What movies were used in the intro?
Moonlight, Burning, treasure planet and a bit of clips from the show the get down. I might make videos on them in the future but when I was making this video A Silent Voice was just taking up the most real estate in my brain
@@chunklate4136 ah, thank you. I liked the video, very well put together!
@@jiptim2gmail1com appreciate it!
Honestly really dislike the premise, but i appreciate your review, its cool to see different thoughts on the show.
Love u Frog
You are saying that you have such moments as Ishida and you have friends who care about you and all. But I have a question for You; What are you supposed to do if you don't have such friends or friends at all? No, I am not trying to hate Your video. The video is amazing. I am making this comment because I need this help and maybe not only me...
Well, performing the things you enjoy can be one way to temporarily alleviate thoughts, another option is therapy or of course time

What are your thoughts on violet evergarden?
Thats one I havent had the chance to watvh all the way thru. When it first dropped I watched like the first half but lately Ive been thinking about getting back to it!
@@chunklate4136
It's kinda good
You should check it out
Will do
I remade the whole film in Minecraft
Thats fire
I hate this movie for one reason.
It makes every other animated series, or movie seem like complete trash in comparison.
Just one thing to say, I fucking 'love the moon'.
