Thankyou very much on instructions on how to install the roller pin into the idle end plug with that little plastic insert. Did not know what to do there and the Coolaroo instructions leave a bit to be desired in that depsrtment. Good humor always appreciated
Love helpful DYI videos like this! Helps keep the stress level waaay down--very important. None of us need added stress. I'm sure the instructions that came with the shade would have driven me crazy. Well, I'm off to install my sunshade, and feeling pretty confident thanks to this video. 😊👍 This is a very sincere thank you for making this video.
I cut the plastic handle off the crank and hook it up to my drill for automated roll up/down. Works great. Just make sure the drill isn’t on high speed.
Great video!! I am going to Lowes and buy two today for my patio, I was looking at the one at Costco but I like this brand better, it is about 20% more but I like the crank to fold and hang straght, the one at costco is a permanent bend and will not hang straght Put a small hook on the side of the wall and it will hold the crank out of the way when not in use Cheers
At 7:10 - You can see that there is a dove tail on the piece that fits into the the dove tail slot on the holder bracket. Once that is placed into the slot it becomes s spring loaded lock, the pin in the shade just snaps into place from the front.
Great video! I have a cinder block & stucco finish. I think I need cement screws to anchor unit. Also, what is the longevity of the shade, and the plastic hardware that comes with it? Thanks.
It's been 3.5 years since I posted it. And the sunshade is still doing great. No tares, no rot, nothing. Hard ware is also in great condition. Love this sunshade.
@@jonahvlogsdiy4143that’s awesome that it’s still holding up. How does it hold up in string wind when it’s fully extended? Does it flap back and forth or is it breathable enough that it flows right thru the fabric?
Nice vid. Thinking of buying it. On the inside of my patio I have lightbulbs so I can't put the coolaroo there, however I could put it on the exterior surface. Would that be a problem?
Great question! It's currently hanging at 8ft from the floor. And its very convenient to to use the crank rod but at 9.5 to 10ft it was difficult. I would say 12ft is impractical unless you use a chair or step ladder.
Not the correct way to install it. The locking clip on the opposite side of the clutch/crank is not to be taken out. You install the bracket where it’s supposed to go then push the plunger past the lock clip (which has spring retention) and then pinch it to pull the plunger back out if you want to remove it. Sorry I just couldn’t leave it alone - this should literally take 5 minutes to install
Yeah that's the way I would have done it, the instructions in the pamphlet are completely misleading that and the fact they give you drywall anchors and say you'll need a f******3/16 drill. Who the hell installs a 10ft outdoor sun shade into drywall?
@@jonahvlogsdiy4143 Cool. Thx for the reply and mine came so that it rolls down from the back not over the top, similar to toilet paper lol. I assume it doesn't matter which way it rolls out. Thx from SW Ontario, 🇨🇦

@@jonahvlogsdiy4143 Thank you because I use my patio year round planting succulents, entertaining, etc. but in the winter it gets pretty cold then adding the wind and rain makes it hard to work in the patio for too long.
What happens if u get a warm breeze but the sun is shinning, how do u stop the blind from blowing or moving, is it secured at the bottom, or is it just weights holding the blind from strong winds or breezes
There should be two holding clips with which comes with the blind. And two bungee cord with a small ball to attach to the clips and hold down the blind.
I want to install these blinds 1 feet away from my exterior way so that it can block the heat the sunlight. Can I install the two end units under the eave rafters? The rafters are not strictly horizontal but with some angle. Thanks
Use garage door hangers, or something similar to get the roller installed level: www.garagedoorstuff.com/product/garage-door-opener-hanger-kit/ Stay gold.
I’ll need the instructions since I want to install mine hanging from ceiling if my Lanai. You have make adjustment to the both brackets they are not very clear. Ex. Remove 4 screws? There only 3 screws 😅. Thanks though.
I just installed 5 of these today and a strong wind came up and blew two of them on the south side out of the brackets somehow. Can’t figure out how. Any ideas?
No, y’all making it WAY to complicated, use a self tapping screw which screws in easy and won’t split the wood, don’t use the garbage Hayward they send in the box

I had to hang mine pretty high so using the crank is impossible without a stepladder. An instruction on how to add a motor would be wonderful.

If you're going to waste your money buying a motor to add on to this, you may aswell just buy a motorized shade instead, lol.

Can the anchors be used on Stucco?
I'm not sure William. You may have to go with longer screws.

Yes. You have to adjust the mounting kit but the instructions on how to do that are included.
So I just installed the 10' shade. Thanks for the great video. Did yours have a bit of a sag because of the weight/length

do you know the width of the hanging brackets?

Measurement is what? Pilot holes prevent "butterfingers"
What?
Always drill pilot holes bro.
Good tip!
Why?
will these work on a 10 x 12 metal gazebo?
Yes for sure.Pre drill the hole in metal with a smaller diameter for the screw & you should be ok.
