- It's right there in the band's name, but the music of Quilt is truly a tapestry. Its songs are made of small bits of verses and choruses that, heard individually, may not seem to fit. But in the hands and voices of this band, they stitch together beautifully. Interweaving harmonies and guitar lines from Anna Fox Rochinski and Shane Butler set the tone for these tunes - soft and benevolent, dreamy and quivering, with poetry that's thoughtful and playful. The opening song at this Tiny Desk Concert, "Arctic Shark," questions and enchants.
How can I proceed with thee?
This eastern harbor's full of grief
All my heavy dreams are simply a luxury
Horses in the pepper tree and the lighthouse floating in the sea
Quilt has become a favorite live band of mine, and its album Held in Splendor often finds its way into my late-night listening. Comforting and warm, the Boston band's music always has me feeling right at home. --BOB BOILEN

Penobska Oakwalk will forever be the soundtrack to an incredible Acid Summer of 2013...
I love it
I come back to this video at least once a month. Quilt is a wonderful and their music, I love.
The guitarist on the left has the best sounding amplified acoustics I've ever heard. I never knew an internal mic for an acoustic could sound good!? Impressive.
Penobska oakwalk has touched my soul in a way I haven’t in a while. God bless your quilt. Utterly beautiful. Everything about it pure gold
This is utterly brilliant ... I absolutely love their harmonies & guitar playing. Top quality songwriting & playful lyrics. Great band.
The names of the musicians are
Anna Fox Rochinski - Vocals/Guitar
Shane Butler - Vocals/Acoustic Guitar
Keven Lareau - Bass
John Andrews - Drums
Absolutely love quilt and your sound is brilliant over at tiny desk concert!
I interviewed this band 10 years ago and kind of forgot about them. I saw them twice back in the day. They are pretty cool. I didn't even know they did a Tiny Desk. Super cool.
My interview is still up on my channel. Love their trippy sound.
Groovy man
powerful set - somehow channelling AOXOMOXOA.
They're really good. Thank you very much
wow, simply incredible
7:46 & beyond or so is pure magic: marvelous....
I really like the first song.
Awesome! I watched all of it. I liked all The songs which is unusual for me.
What comes thru is a voice that translates into a movement of stillness.
Boston wants you back!
Pretty voice, gorgeous girl.
Great band!
Feeling Hippies never die...
Great music, lovely band and gorgeous woman in vocals :-)
Mary Mountain sounds like beatles.
saw them a few days ago in Berlins Club Auster. Great Band.

I dig it
or the lemonpipers
Love it!
Saw them yesterday in Lyon, France, for a really nice concert ! (that was "vachement bien" !)
Loved them, she's absolutly gorgeous and have this cute smile while she's singing, the rest of the band is also really awesome, would definitely recommend !

I was thinking that this band makes me feel very warm, like I´m under a nice quilt! See what I did there?
Great vocalist.
They sound great
Tite
Since everyone talks about their 60's vibe, I liken them to Peter, Paul, and Mary
Good comparison.
A little Jefferson Airplane, a little Mamas and Papas?
4:40 mary mountain. Love it!
great vibes
Pretty cool!
reminds me of grundge.
The first one, "Arctic Shark" ... really reminded me of David Bowie's "Golden Years"
Reminds me of very early Fairport Convention, when they were still trying to sound like a British version of the Byrds and hadn't yet discovered what they could accomplish by electrifying medieval ballads and Celtic fiddle tunes.
I love that girl
Grows on you...
Underrated
Good Shit. Makes me think of Jefferson Airplane!
Christian Brady I wonder if she can do a version of "White Rabbit" with a face that's less soul sucking and expressionless!!! I mean really!!! THOSE EYES!?! NIGHTMARES!?!
TheMechanicalGirl999 Her eyes are freakin' beautiful!! What are you talking about?
Yep. JA and a few others
@@hedrinklz Ultimate Spinach
is it just me or does the blonde guy really look like Eric Idle from monty python
It's only the eight of you. I was looking at the girl.
i can hear Simon and Garfunkel and Jefferson Airplane in their sweet band
Love the vibe in this music! Good hiking music, great pickin! When can I catch y'all live?
fun songwriting
Sounds heavily influenced by 90's alternative rock. Still fucking amazing.
I'm generally not a big fan of live performances but damn this sounds good.
where do they come up with this ancient minstrel stuff...this is classic and you can rock this up ...interesting
... with Ryan Gosling on drums!
Where have all the hippies gone?
Is there any recent news from them? I can’t believe they still haven’t followed up Plaza, it was such an amazing album. Seems like a misstep that they’ve been quiet for so long. I’d be so excited to hear something new.
Take a look to olden yolk
Definitely the next best thing. Thank you.
For sure Olden Yolk is rad. Anna just released her first solo record, it's really cool. The drummer John's band John Andrews and the Yawns is really good, third album called Cookbook is due out soon. Keven on bass just put out an amazing song called Not All Songs Have Been Sung. I think an album is in the works. Quilt is, I think, on permanent hiatus, but not neccessarily broken up, just all in different places right now. Not be too selfish, but I really hope they get back together along with doing their seperate projects. They're all so wonderful individually and together, I'm truly grateful for everything they do.
Amazing harmonies and melodies! What happened to Quilt?
Reminds me of Victoria Williams.
much better than the recorded version
"How did we get so?"
"that was beautiful"
"Arctic Shark"
How can I proceed with thee?
This eastern harbor's full of grief
All my heavy dreams are simply a luxury
Horses in the pepper tree and the lighthouse floating in the sea
Newborn forms are weightless like doves
Everything will regenerate as it was
All your heavy hearts are simply illusory
They will find an open shell in which to grow and set you free
Mourning how a frozen thing can thaw and turn to brine
Salty workings in a restless process of the mind
Form becoming weightless like doves
Everything will regenerate as love
Not the kind you think you know and not the kind you learn
The arctic shark is living free in the coldest part of the Eastern Sea
All my heavy hearts are simply illusory
Finding time to trust them turning right side up inside of me
Sweet Dee Reynolds?
ryan gosling on drums

The guitarrist looks like the blonde one of the mcPoyles (Sorry if you read this, you are not so creepy, you beautyfull person!)

I would so like to be this girls groupie. Haha. (no, really)
Not bad...nothing particularly memorable. In fact I've already forgotten. ;)
Pretty girl indeed.
That's what made me click.
