Lyrics:
We are ready for the siege
We are armed up to the teeth
Be careful how you live and breathe
Release what's broken underneath
How many times do you want to die
How many ways do you want to die
To feel safe again look over your shoulder
Very carefully look over your shoulder
We can laugh about it now
We hope everything works out
Be careful how you lick your wounds
Believe the change is coming soon
How many times do you want to die
How many ways do you want to die
To feel safe again look over your shoulder
Very carefully look over your shoulder
You used to do a little but a little won't fly
And right before you hit your prime
That's when we fell in love but not the first time
Can it please you still
Renaming your father's will
Or does it make you ill
Let us bruise their knees
We will aim straight for the feed
You'll be relieved
So relieved so relieved
Turn on full desire
Feel the sparks of the friendly fire
Misery inspires
Your throat has been cut
Several times before
Never noticed the size of the flow
Make it be ignored
To feel safe again look over your shoulder
Carefully look over your shoulder
You said you believed it but believing won't fly
And right before you hit your prime
That's when we fell in love but not the first time
And when it's all over and you open your eyes
To see the room turned on its side
You'll be lying by a note on the floor signed...
...the royal we
The royal we
The royal we
The royal we
The royal we
The royal we
The royal we
The royal we
Love, the royal we

I can say with honesty that Silversun Pickups is the most underrated band of the past two decades.
Every album deserves some kind of award. I don't think I think skip a song on any one
I second that 🙏🏼🥰
I 83rd that
@@justlee5190 I agreed just now.
Best fing band ever
This song feels gigantic
I love reading the comments and thinking "YES! THESE PEOPLE GET IT!" Not enough people know the brilliance of this band, but every comment does.
Oh I completely agree with you on that one
Silversun is my favorite band of the new millennium. They are so eclectic and haunting, heavy and melodic, ethereal and hard AF all at once. With lyrics that beg to be put together like a puzzle that has no picture on the box.
I love the song Melatonin 🙂👍
@@ryanwallace5012 Best comment, sums it up perfectly. Most unique music I've heard, yet so underappreciated its kinda ridiculous
Same thing here
the drummer is more incredible then most people realize,
Martin Spears 100%
Amazing subtle talent
And bass
Amazing drummer. Just listen to Surrounded (Or Spiraling)
Like watching Animal from the Muppets...love it!
he is so fucking into it. Makes a listener appreciate it so much more. Overall, the band is phenomenal. Never dove into em before, first time digging in deep. They're so well put together, my only regurt is not digging into them sooner. They're revitalizing something inside of me that's felt dead for so long. Finding it ironic I was typing that as he was singing "rotting away". Can totally imagine him singing "bringing the dead back to life". I'm ashamed of not listening to them more sooner. Fucking badass band.
Everyone of their songs takes this long, tender, trippy road that leads up to a gut-wrenching delivery of unabashed emotion and abstract conceptualism.
Fucking brilliant. I'm hooked.
'Emo' -FATHER
Fing god I have listened to them from the beginning. Me and my dad saw them at Montauk theater live. Nothing like it. They have been my favorite ever since
Rusted wheels is the best of this so far imo
Yes.
I agree.. amazing buildups to a kick ass finish in all of their songs.
I don't understand how they're not more popular than they are! The lyrics are so raw and his voice is so effortlessly great! Love it
Because it is not that easy to be digested by the masses.
They started a decade too late.
Guarantee you they'd be huge if they started around '95.
3 yrs later.... still mind boggling......SSP is amazing.
@@officialJoCa smashing pumpkins of a new generation
They are one of the best band ever!!!!.. period, What are you talking about people
I'm a 43 yr old truck driver. I need to express that no music has moved me like Swoon in the last 17 years. It transports me through space and dimensions. Such a masterful piece of art. Its' relevance becomes more cemented every time I take the journey.
It's easily my favorite album
Facts, coming from a 40 year old in 2021. It's still one of the best albums I've ever heard.

Who agrees. That this song still kicks ass 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥😉😉🌚
one hundo %
This song is so perfectly composed. If you close your eyes, you can really ride it deep into the ocean of human existance, emotion, passion, expression, and unhinged free human creativity that we rarely see in our every day lives. I love the power this song and this band has. Timeless. 13 years ago? Unreal
Samantha..are u single?..❤.D. ( seeing Tuesday at history TO)
That fuzz in the chorus is fucking amazing. Tonal brilliance, right there.
The climax of this song towards the end gives me goosebumps - the wall of guitar fuzz with the cello coming in over top is simply amazing.
@2:30 that shit just pulls on my heartstrings and gives me goosebumps so I know exactly what you mean, that solo is fucking amazing
I love how it goes quite and contemplative and then explodes into that crescendos at the end I get goose bumps all the time too
'Emo' -FATHER
Glad I'm not the only one. When he just starts belting it only to smooth out gets me every time.
Bumped this song a million times and never noticed the subtle strings. Thank for pointing it out. 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Years later, still one of my favorite songs. Period.
Me too!
This song is a gorgeous description of the pain of addiction.
and that's why they will never succeed. I was hunted down. Nothing is a choice for me except for dying. my brain is destroyed. Nobody has to live by the rules I do. They wonder why I hate them so much. With this, it's like, you've got to be kidding me. It never fails. I have to sit and wait for these guys to bore of human sexuality. It is something that applies to almost anyone. I'm also annoyed how they took all beliefs from me, and then they're angry about that, too. Temper tantrums. I like how he had the girls competing.
I heard this about this group accidently on XM radio with the pulsating "Last Dance" and I didnt quite get the name of the band at first searched for an hour on RUclips....knew there was a "sun" in their name and finally found it! Im a lot lot older than most of you...68 yrs young...but have been around music all my life...love old delta blues from Elmore James, Robert Johnson to Buddy Guy and the great talent at Chess Records in Chicago back in to 1950s-60s....Muddy Waters, Howling Wolf (whom I both met in person at small clubs in NYC....Sonny Boy Williamson..etc etc...the Stones brought it all back to the USA. This band has talent...I have worked in a recording studio years ago and they are legit. Love the Last Dance harmony and didnt the male singer was male....but still great stuff.
Remember music is an art form....its an expression of feelings and never look down on ANY form of music...disco, big band or jazz...country....its all expressions.
Mike Smith Glad you've had the chance to check them out. They're great!
Mike Smith yep. Took me a minute to understand different types of music and the importance of artistic feelings and styles. As a teenager... I was such a stupid hardass about anything not metal or rock.. Now.. my range of music taste is something I am so great ful for
They are ridiculous live. Just sick.
Incredibly talented, But thee days its not so much about talent that gets you noticed. Such a shame where the industry has gone. It's more about making news than making music.
I am with you there ,just found these guys and love them I am a 59 year old aussie ,been going to gigs and festivals for 44 years ,I think I have listened to lazy eye 20 times in the last week.festivals these days we avoid the main stages and have seen some cracking outfits ,usually never heard of them but that's just fine.seen some amazing bands before they hit it big.try XTC joe Jackson ,many great aussie acts, saw KOL and the white stripes at Brisbane festivals at back stages back in the early noughties
that minute of 3 to 4 is pure emotional music genius.
They're tremendous. End of story.
Unfinished Wood GREAT word for them...ABSOLUTELY TREMENDOUS!!
When they let it all out it sounds disgustingly good
Well said mate..... incredible stuff. I just came across these guys four days ago and haven't taken my headphones out once.....sooooo good
Perfect tour for 2024 would be them and the Foo fighters
Who in 2023 os listening this masterpiece?
2024 now
This band oozes creativity.
Absolutely
More talent than is recognized
when he explodes his voice it has a big impact.
This album reminds me of my short, 2-3 week stay in Alaska in 2009. This album had just come out and it was all I was listening to at the time. This song was my favorite from it.
one of the most important records of the past decade in my opinion. Its got so much content. I wouldnt call it pop. this is pure untethered rock & roll at its finest.
Agreed. This and The National's High Violet (2010 but counting it!) are my fav two albums from the last decade ever!
They are shoegaze if anything
Jeremiah Orr At It's Finest.
The occasional song with a little reverb does not a shoegaze band make.
This more indie rock
No contest. This album was the best one released in 2009 - all genres.
Man, 13 years flies by.
Sweet gallopimg Jesus, this band jams.

Love The Royal We
Wow this takes me back. Goosebumps, man.
I feel very fortunate to have made it to 43 yrs old and listen to something that is far beyond anything my ears/brain has ever experienced. I'm not a religious person but, this song is so amazing that it's almost "angelic". If I knew i was gonna die and had a "last song" it would be this one.
Ok "Enorma Stitz" lol
'Emo' -FATHER
Just discovered this band 2 days ago, strange that I have never heard anything from them before now. Sounds quality!
Only just discovered this song....WOW .....How damn good is it?
Welcome to reall music.
Never realized how much this is my main theme till now.
listen to the structure of this song. how it travels across the landscape, changes, and comes out on the other end grown into something more powerful. this band knows dynamics and balance. it is the keystone of all classic works of art.
Thank you.
I love the way he truly feels the music. It gets progressively louder and more energetic and so emotional. I mean, c'mon! Look at him at 3:30! Love the silversun pickups
'Emo' -FATHER
The 1st time I heard them was on the radio. They played The Royal We. It hit me like hard with the lyrics. They use a lot of Bass, along with this Gritty Sound that just blows you away. And then you hear his voice which makes it Friggin Incredible! Such an All of their songs are So Different with each one having that gritty sound that makes them Sound Incredibly Amazing!!!
Exactly what happened to me when I heard Circadian Rhythm. To be fair, though, if I had heard this first, it would have had the same effect. :p
'Emo' -FATHER
Every song by this band is awesome. Its a rare find.
This is a mere message with 100 more hidden within for whom it was destined.
we need more songs like this one ♥♥
I heard they were coming to Houston this year and I’m like man I gotta go see them. I’ve always been addicted to panic switch and the pit and I began digging into more of their music and I just go into this relaxing mood. 2:31 just gets me out of reality and I love it
Still my favorite Silversun album.
They have such a great unique sound
I pray music comes back to being good someday
I Think they sound very like Smashing Pumkings
This song begins at level eleven and goes through evolutionary leaps to another dimension.
This must be one of the best bridges I’ve ever heard
Listening to this when you first wake up in the AM, sets the day right.
incredible ending, the mix of oversaturated guitar and cellos building up while the voice calmly enounces the signature..another masterpiece from this unique, and definitely underrated band!!!
It's been a minute since I've listened to them. They've got some good music😊
I first heard this band about 4 years ago and played them to my friends.. no one dug it but me.. now they are touring nationally and making stops at major festivals like ACL and SXSW.. fun to see bands you knew would finally blowing up
Well, ive listened to these guys for years without seeing a video, i always thought it was a woman singing, wow am i ever fucked up now
wikipedia is a beautiful thing
Being tone deaf sounds awful.
Same with me, very surprised. Glad it's a guy:)
Agreed with him, I love their music but didn't know it was a dude singing. And tone deaf? Ha anyone with ears will think the same the first time they hear their music
Joe Peter
sounds like a girl tbh. Still a good song though
I LOVE THIS SONG!!!! PERFECTLY DONE!!! It made my heart race....
this song deserves more views. what a tune. love how the ending takes the song to another level. @3:10 to the end is just entrancing
'Emo' -FATHER
LOVE THIS SONG SO MUCH!!!!!
This was hands down my favourite track from 2005ish to 2015ish. Just a searing, twisting, turning romp. Epic stuff. The kick in at 3:10 is so good.
Best buildup of any song ever? Yes, I do think so.
Dude no way, Lazy Eye! That song has the best freaking build up I've ever heard!
This is an incredible build up but look up providence by foals, that's the best imo
the airborne toxic event- "sometime around midnight" is my personal favorite buildup song
Hope of the States black dollar bills…. Amazing everlasting buildup/outro
If Elijah Wood and Morgan Spurlock had a child, it would be Brian Aubert.
Only two (now three) thumbs up? See it, I can't unsee it. :D
Still listening to this in 2019.
2020 and it's my isolation music for the coronavirus shutdown- much love to SSPU!
you mean 2020

Swoon is definitely in my top 20 albums of all time hands down 👌.
Soundtrack of the age we're currently living in.
I was a competitive cyclist back in mid-late 2000’s. This song (above ALL others on my training playlist) opened a floodgate of emotion that drove me harder than I ever imagined possible. 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘
I have recently discovered this band, and I have to say, listening to it on my ipod, I loved this song the second I heard it. So, watching the song on RUclips is where I fell in love but not the first time (with the song)? *sorry attempt of a joke*
OMG SILVERSUN PICKUPS WILL COME TO LOLLAPALOOZA CHILE NEXT YEAR AAAAGGGGHHHH 😭😭😭😭
Tambien a la argentina... No lo puedo creer :')
guido0 Qué felicidad!
I go back and forth on whether this is my favorite song of theirs or Kissing families.
This is my number one favourite song, and has been for over a decade now 💙
I like it very much from 2:32
I prefer 4:46
thats when we fell in love qnd not the first time
and? so explain
YOU MUST SEE THIS BAND LIVE! I've seen hundreds of live shows and this one is in my top five!
Silversun Pickups, thank you.
If you love the smashing pumpkins then you love sliversun pickups
that's what I thought too ,lol
This band is amazing!
Weird thing is both have(had) female bass players.
It's true!
Brother you are 100% right...luv the Pumkins...and these guys follow a very close second
I was living in LA at the time, driving to my first Dodgers game and this came on the radio... it was so odd, it seems to follow 2 or 3 narratives and has 2 bridges, it went on for ages, I loved it, the track is brilliant and unique, and it reminds me of LA old freinds and that first Dodgers game
'Emo' -FATHER
i agree 100 percent sooooo underated they need to come back
This song is ALL THE FEELS
they are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GOOOOD
Discover this band 6 month ago and i have to say they are great.
This song , encapsulates perfectly a particulary hard and tragic time in my life. The lyrics , like any song have a unique to me meaning. But the emotion, the delivery , the inflections...not so much what is being sung but how its been sung is exactly how I was feeling going through it. It always takes me right back to those feelings and emotions like no other song ever.
They are amazing! It always amazes me that there's a band every now and then that sounds so different to anything else!
Like, the royal we, man
Big Lobowski reference?
+Bronze Serpent obv. this song and that movie have done more for that phrase than anything else really.
Dude♥️
OH MY GOD SO MUCH YES!!!!
hey Justine! this song is fucking awesome.
this music is a medicine
Man this band is all about passion and awesomeness, I love 'em.
I feel guilty to have just discovered this amazing band in 2018. Damn Myself, what were you doing?
check out their whole back catalogue, you won't be disappointed.
one week, following that post, I had bought every of their work!
Pietro Filadi excellent!
Dont feel bad, we didbt have the internet back then to show is what was put there. You literally had to catch it on the radio, magazine or tv to know anything existed.
I just discovered them this year and am sad I missed all their early years. But got to see them live and was blown away. So happy they are still around.
So relieved, so relieved to know it was I....
So effing classic!!! 😱
Traveler Volkriin *So relieved, so relieved, turn forth in desire* sorry I had to this song is just so epic
Raydon Ward Lol. We both got the lyrics horribly wrong. I still don't care! Lmao!
Traveler Volkriin
“ so relieved so relieved to turn on full, desire”
Love this song so much ♥️
Wow guys really? Use your context clues and logical flow. He says:
You will be relieved. So relieved, so relieved to the full. And desire? Bitter Sparks turned to friendly Fire
This song stirs up an emotion in me that I can't quite define. Love this band
was in Milwaukee a few years ago and walked into these guys performing live at a festival and they blew me away and have loved their music since that day.
this song gets dark very fast when the 'royal we' is understood
I love SSP, but they explore the dark side of humanity more often than is comfortable for many
dig into the lyrics
these are philosopher musicians, and they are great
Reminds me very much of early Pumpkins. Which is not a bad thing at all. :)
One of my favourite songs, ever
Lyricly, vocally, melodically... everything about this is perfection.
I listen to a lot of alt metal, so this song is perhaps my favorite by this band.
This is indie rock
Mariolol XD Tis alt rock :P
Brad G Actually both of you are right... It can be considered indie too...
Adam McCann alt metal pfft maybe alt rock
What did the king say when he wanted to play Nintendo? -
"Bring me the Royal Wii!"
Meh meh meh
Oh Boy
I finally found this, this Song was my childhood... the feels
Got to see these guys live in September finally. This song is even better live!
Well, I have no freaking idea what is happening in this video, but great song. One of the best of SSPU in my opinion.
A Huge Fricking
Edit: never mind, I'm on the wrong SSP video.....
I think it's about returning to a dysfunctional relationship. And thinking that things will be different this time.
Maybe but he said himself he is a master of gibberish and writes one line at a time mostly just what sounds good with what the band is playing. Its less about what he's saying big picture and more about how and when he says anything.
Just like opiate abuse
'Emo' -FATHER
fantastic, have to keep coming back for more.
Don't get me wrong, I love this song. I go on streaks where I'll play this song on repeat for over an hour. But good golly gosh, I want to hear it sung with the lyrics that show up on cc, because I guarantee it would be hilarious.
'Emo' -FATHER
such an underrated album
I can not get enough of this tune, and the rest of the CD is amazing good fun!
This is what I call art! Talent. Such talent!

Wow. Every time brings back Memories. Bitter sweet. My eyes still weep. I feel he speaks to me through music. Not only my ex but he's the father of our son. Triple xxx harder to jus let it go. He is everything n everywhere. Ughhh
This band is bad ass! I've seen them in live and just fell with their music and their lyrics.
The ending of this song always gets me.
