Sammy Hagar IS a good singer, don't misunderstand. He ruined Van Halen, but he has a great voice, and a lot of talent, and I must say I do love this cover.
+James Matthews your wrong. Eddie Van Halen ruined Van Halen. Listen to the cd 1984. To me it sucked compared to old Van Halen. Roth didnt like it either. When Sammy joined all he did was improve the New style Eddie had wanted to play. The cd 5150 was a BIg improvement over the 1984 cd. All Sammy did was keep Van Halen popular much longer than they would have been without him. He is one of the greats among live performers. Look at them now without him live. They suck. They are not even close to as good as with Sammy live.
PAUL MITCHELL- I totally agree: Ed's megalomania, fueled by massive amounts of cocaine and alcohol (co-occurring condition) and his insecurities ruined Van Halen. Dave WAS a great front man, but he lost his voice decades ago. And his schlock on stage is beyond tired. Sammy can STILL SING, not only his VH songs, but Dave's VH songs. The current line up is unwatchable. Oh, this is one of the best versions of this song I've heard.
I may be mistaken, but I believe the solos are the product of Joe Satriani; Sammy may be a riff-meister, by Joe is among the top 2 or 4 guitar gods in terms of solos. That's an area that will be as far beyond Sammy Hagar as it will always be to me, and I can play multiple instruments. Joe (Satch) is the schit!!

If Eddie Van Halen enjoys that era of Van Halen, which he did and still does, he didn't ruin the band. He ruined your image of it. Get over it.
