MALICE: 1999 - Special Episode
HTML-код
- Опубликовано: 3 апр 2013
- This special episode is not part of MALICE's main story line. Rather is a stand alone imaginative adventure.
Written and directed by Philip Cook
The story:
Lieutenant Alice Turner is a brilliant young technician assigned to maintain the integrity of the Meta Probe while its primary crew recover from a mysterious virus infection. Alice finds herself unexpectedly at the helm of the awesome interstellar spacecraft when 911 hits earth on a galactic scale! This disaster is not September 11th, 2001 but rather on September 13th, 1999.

Thanks for the appreciation. It was shot essentially in one hot day last July with lots of post production work for a Space: 1999 convention in L.A. -- Alpha: 2012. Nick Tate, Anton Philips and Prestis Hancock were in the audience and really enjoyed it.
Omg, this is great! And I'm watching in Feb 2021!
I regularly revisit this video. It's great.
I return to watch this over and over again….
This was great fun to watch, very enjoyable.
It's taken me 6 years to stumble across this... It's AMAZING!!! I would love to see more, but I guess it's too late now. A pity, because this was simply FANTASTIC!
I like that the models for the target drones were taken from the previous Gerry Anderson series UFO!
This was very sweet. A loving tribute to Space:1999 (Hawks!), a fine nod to UFO, and a good story to boot.
Wow. Just found this little video -- loved every moment. Especially the use of the actual "broadcast" from Earth as seen in "Breakaway".
What a great job. A well deserved tribute to Space 1999,
This is absolutely great, loved it. We did not get to see this kind of personal reaction to the big "breakaway" event in the original series & this totally works on all levels. Just awesome. Wish there could be more!
Thanks! Perhaps you might enjoy this special as well.

It actually brought me to tears. I'd forgotten how much I love those old shows.
It's been 7 years since the last comment was made on this. I have to say, this was still a great achievement!
Nice tribute to Space 1999 . I am also a great fan .
As am I but of the First Season only!
This is a fantastic potential side story to Space 1999, amazing job!! Thanks for making it - the Space 1999 universe is still an untapped treasure for fan films. Hope you guys consider doing another one!

This is cool. I'd LOVE to see a new series, maybe Space 2099? I keep imagining it with proper physics, and continuing the excellent production design of 1999.
This was superb, not only as a palimpsest of "Breakaway," but also for integrating 1999 with UFO -- and giving us a look at why the Hawks were built (they were FAR better than the Interceptors, which had limited mobility and could fire only one missile).
Thanks so much for appreciating all the detail.
Very well done! why is fan fiction better than Hollywood at the minute? Excellent!
This needs to remade into a brand new series..!!!
Need too be done!!!
Agreed. This is some seriously good work here (and I don't just mean the sfx).
Space 2099.
My dream is to see a new series of Space:1999 that uses and enhances the characteristics of the first season.
This tribute is great.
Thank you!
It would be a sequel many years later. Some of the main cast has died
@@drmayeda1930 Oh yes, you're right. Time passes quickly... unfortunately many are no longer here...
Nicely done! Good special effects and model!!!! Good tribute to the show.
Never Forget 9/13/99. sending 311 men & women on the greatest adventure's of all time!
WOW amazing job guys! I have been working on a Space 1999 fan film for last 6 or 7 months, I am just pecking away at is scene by scene, it should be a full length episode when its done.
Thats actually really well made. Makes me want this to be a new series, a reboot as it were. We want more ! Please !
Simply loved it!! This was a great tribute to space 1999. Keep up the good work
This... brought a tear to my eye. It was awesome. It gave a perspective of what things were going on to the people outside of Alpha. The homage to UFO was pretty cool also. I really hope these two were able to catch the runaway moon.
i ran into a tribute years ago on youtube where after 20 years from breakaway, there was texas city and the citizens of tc were having a memorial to the alphans .
I was nine when Breakaway first aired on TV! Space:1999 had a HUGE impact on my outlook of TV and how fantastic imagination could be. I still love this show, as much as any show ever, and even Season 2, when it was not nearly as cool. I have all the episodes on DVD, with the special behind-the-scenes DVD's as well. I also have a Gerry Anderson highly detailed Eagle model that I proudly display with my DVD's! This short film was really good, and showed what happened right before Breakaway! Great job to all involved!
Absolutely incredible! Can believe I haven't seen this one before. The sets were a little bit large and maybe too dark, but the love you've put into this project is evident throughout the effort. Well done!👍👍👍👍
Great video!!!!! SPACE 1999 WAS one of my favorite shows growing up!!!!!!
This is the most awesome Space: 1999 fan video I have seen. Thanks so much for expanding the universe a little and making another story for those of us who wondered about what happened on that fateful day in 1999.
Nicely done! Great SFX and the story enter-twinning at the edges of Breakaway was really cool. The premise of Space 1999 was ridiculous with the FTL moon that slowed down for weekly adventures and then sped up again for no reason was confusing to say the least but Alpha the base and the Eagles (and the Mk IX Hawk) and the top flight actors always made the slightly mediocre scripts shine to an amazing level. Great to see people still enjoying Space 1999 and playing with the universe. I loved the nod towards UFO as well!
I love how you kept your VFX true to the original. The Eagle spinning away as well as the Meta Probeship while Spacedock Centuri inexplicably explodes. I wasn't expecting UFO drones, that sound still gives me chills 44 years after I first saw it. Kudos!
Probably exploded due to a core breach caused by cascade failure of the emergency shutdown subsystems.
I never get tired of this. Still as fresh and as indulging as when I first saw it.
I recall seeing this AT Alpha 2012 and Brittany Martz was very nice, looking a lot younger than her then actual age of 21. The actual Malice webseries was also very well done!
I agree this is the best fan tribute I have seen that tributes ufo and space 1999. Well done everyone involved.
+Regina Calway Thanks so much. Perhaps you might enjoy this special episode as well. ruclips.net/video/VIZrSVE5PlY/видео.html
Amazing job for a YT video! Great job.
Lets keep 1999 alive.
Best animation of Space 1999... almost like watching the original!!! Kudos...
That was great and would fit perfectly into the Space: 1999 timeline, the premise could be integrated into any future reboot of the show, fingers crossed we see more of this in the future.

Omg I just discovered this! Simply Brilliant! Keep up the good work. We need more 1999 in our lives! I wish they would remake it all for the modern world. The effects would be stunning. Was just talking to a m8 yesty who still has all his original corgi eagles!! Jammy git!

Oh my God, I really enjoyed this episode.🛰👽🛸🛰👽🛸👽
UFO ships as drones - LOL - EXCELLENT tie-in of the UFO series.....
Great video, hope to see more one day. always loved Space 1999, those Hawks. thanks for making it
This is great! I particularly liked your inclusion of Hans Zimmer/James Newton Howard’s music toward the end. 😀
Would love to see more of this. Thanks for the work.
Nice Hawks animations!
Excellent work, fantastic special effects .. thank you very much for posting this.
Space 1999 was always my favorite sci-fi show .. this was done so well it could have been part of an actual episode.
I have only just found this in May 2020 ..
It is a wonderful effort, and I would like to see more? Although that train has probably left the station by now?
One must remember that 1999 was set 19 years after the UFO timeline, so the Hawks are the "updated" Shado interceptor.. It stands to reason that the "target drones" would be simulated UFO ships.. Great attention to storyline? Straker would have loved them?
I am not usually enthused by CG Animations of what were models in the TV shows. But this was outstanding work, done at a similar pace to the original series.. A proper tribute indeed?
I intend to make Anderson productions at least aware of this great work. (maybe someone will take notice)?
Thank you for the great work...
Of particular appreciation from me is the following - thank you for not changing the scene every .4sec It is very nice to be able to watch something that does not put me into a twitching fit on the floor ; )
I keep watching this over and over absolutely fantastic I can't thank you enough for making such a fine short film of course being selfish we still more but I absolutely love it thank you so much for creating it going to fan since I was watching this and the original run when I was 7 years old
+Glen Planamento Thanks for the kind words. Please share it with your friends. In the meantime perhaps you might enjoy this Malice special as well:

2021 now and rediscovered this gem, it's still riveting, very impressive 💯👏👏👏
WOW THAT WAS BEAUTIFUL,GREAT TRIBUTE AND AWESOME 2ND VIEW.
5 STAR
Brilliant piece of work!
The moment I saw Alice, (Brittany Martz) Alita Battle Angel popped into my head.
I just stumbled onto this here in 2018. I am seriously impressed!
Very good! I remember when Space: 1999 was new. Yes, what if the Meta Probe survived?
i always wondered why the show let me down. they never explored Meta!!! they just abandoned that whole plot line!! a rogue planet entering the solar system. thats got to be the best angle for an SF movie or series.
@@mercurywoodrose I have to agree. What if Meta settled into orbit around the sun, ending up in the "Goldilocks Zone" and thawing out?
@@mercurywoodrose Not revealing any spoilers but if you can find “Message from Moonbase Alpha” online it explains why, it was on this site for a while but got taken down because of a copyright claim
The talent is out there, space 1999/UFO can be recreated once more, we need it now more than ever
Great job to everyone involved in this. Fantastic..simply great on all levels.
That was absolutely wonderful! I'm a lifelong fan of Space:1999 and really enjoyed your fan film. Thank you so much for bringing it to us. :D
Thanks! A lot of work went in to this.
Why can't they go home? Still, nice pilot for a future series.Should be seriously considered for proper funding.
VERY well done, and I shared it for all the fellow Space 1999 fans out there who might not know about it.
I was hoping the line would be "Let's go to Meta."
They never did follow up on that after breakaway.
Nice CG, great sets and props, and the acting was good.
Wow. Very high quality. Kudos for integrating the backstory of the Hawks from the old Starlog article.
Nope one survived.
Fun, for sure! Great UFO/1999 integreation! (Maybe too much reverb in COMs lol) And, add,a Wormhole... for the moon being moved. I grew up on S:1999- so, my idea, if ever, re-booted with that idea, ping me here, for permissions.
Great short movie. Loved the acting, and the sfx. The Hawks were beautiful, and I liked how you used UFOs as the drones. Reverse engineered by Shado by any chance?
Damn. Wished I had seen this 6yrs ago but glad I did find it. A wonderful what if tribute. If you ever decide to revive Space 1999 please announce it.
Are those Sparrowhawks? Brilliant production, I'm very impressed.
Holy Crap! They even include the UFO's from UFO although in this they're target drones
Impressive! It was a great awesome short film for the support of Space: 1999! We loved it! We want to see more like that. Thank you! Cheers!
If there was real fan interest and willingness to crowdfund another Space: 1999 short for three thousand dollars, we'd certainly consider it. At this point, we can no longer justify producing another with our own finances. Thanks for the appreciation!
Might not be part of MALICE's main story line, but would have loved to have seen it be a canon part of the 1999 universe.... nicely done guys.

I’m a fan of Space:1999 and thought this tribute was well done. I’m gonna try to find the Malice series. Thx, again.
Thanks! They've since been compiled into movies. You can watch them on Amazon as The Malice Trilogy. a.co/d/gEWDhbV

I have been a trek fan for decades. But before I got hooked on trek, I was a 99-er. I loved the show. Still do. They seriously need to reboot this. Let's face it, if Lost in Space can be rebooted twice, why not Space 1999?
That was fantastic. I always wondered what became of the Meta Probe ship. Well done.👍

Now that needs to be made into a complete movie or perhaps even a series because i would love to see the continuing stories of the survivors on the meta probe

Very impressive.
Excellent well done
Gah! Now I want to see the whole series get a reboot. :( Wonderful work here tho, really enjoyed it. :)
I enjoyed this greatly. I was also wondering what an offshoot of Space:1999 would be like, (not re-boot) ex: the leftover space projects in Alpha's absence. Wasn't there a Mars station, too?
ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC FOR THE DAY
there is so much going on ... sweet mother so many tie in's!!!! WHY did we not got this growing up . I grew up with the Thunderbirds but later on when I got to pick what was before bed time U.F.O. and SPACE 1999 was my choice , going to leave it at that, love the cheasy stuff....give me a model anyday!
WOW... Want to see more, well done!

This is SO awesome! I would love to see where you take this story. Fantastic job all around!!!
Thanks so much. We'd love to continue but there is no viable way through. So much work. No money. It's not hard to imagine. Although I have pondered their Meta Probe adventures -- Alice and her Hawk Pilot father. Perhaps I'll write a book. Making the visuals is way too expensive and hard. If you all want us to make more. Fund a little Kickstarter campaign. We don't need much . A few thousand dollars for props and etc. Let us know!
Doing indy films in my spare time, I fully understand the issue of having money to do something. I do appreciate your response, even though I didn't get back you soon enough. Thank you for your time and this very cool presentation.
Hard for me to believe that so many people still remember the show. I watched it when I was a boy many years ago. I really like this. You should contact Jerry Anderson's son. Maybe you could work with him to make this into to a series. Doesn't he own the rights to the show?
I loved watching Space 1999 & UFO, so if they could make something in between, maybe even 2 different TV shows that would be great, the clip from Malice 1999 has got my taste buds drooling to see more. Nice work.

Well done. The only thing I miss that I wish you put in was somehow put in this trailer with the original opening theme music.
This should have way more views, sure you got enough tags for this? As others have said this should be pursued. One of the finest independent films made in the area of classic TV shows. Please do a longer sequel and get the word out, very superb!
We need a movie company to do a reboot of either a new series, or a film. Plenty people would watch it as it had a huge following, and the idea was original, a huge amount of variety in stories are possible.
Great story. Excellent imagery. Really enjoyed. Hopefully this will be taken further. Would love to see this. Good work guys. More please.

I think that would have been a great idea for a spin off or companion series.
Nicely done. I enjoyed it.
Holy cats, is this nice work!
I don't care that this was mostly chromakeyed; the work was expertly done, and keying allowed for more modern controls to be added. And the work on the displays was beautiful! I'm sure most people wouldn't notice or care. Kudos to the CGA artists, CGA is a lot of work, and I'm sure it would have been better if there had been more money or time (or both.) It's wonderful to see there are people who care enough to do something like this.
Agree with "Nao and Cozmo," this SHOULD have a lot more views, particularly considering the size of the fan base. I'd seen the thumbnail before and didn't realize what a gem it would be.
Also agree with "FreedomZealot," it does provide much better continuity back to the UFO series (of which it was supposed to be a continuation.) This would allow at least one Hawk IX to be available to the moonbase, and explain why the aliens in War Games to have any idea of its existence (otherwise, it looked FAR too human in its design.)
I daresay it would be a bit much to ask Alice to abandon the Earth; with one wounded Hawk, they'd be able to make a safe landing, or use the Meta probe's lander.
Hey, there was another Eagle that got away from the station, too; circa 3:19-3:30. What became of that pilot and others aboard? If this gets any continuation, that's a nice way to add in anything that might have otherwise been forgotten, both in gear and personnel.
I shall now go forth and look for more in this vein. Thanks, malicedownunder!

Very well done!! The only visible imperfection (in fullHD) is the silver helmet lockring, made of cardboard. Anyway, it's a great work!!
I always loved the music and sound effects used by Barry Grey. I always thought that He got it right in Series 1 of Space 1999.
Thanks Steve. I tried to be accurate with the classic sounds plus some new ones for the Meta Probe.
