    the Japanese medal was issued for a wide range of campaigns, the ribbon denoted the campaign it was issued for, your medal has the inter allied 1914-1918 victory medal ribbon, so yours was issued for ww1 service.

      @@FuturesPast1 Sorry but this japanese medal is not for the WW1, though they have the similiar ribbon, the one in this video is for the Soldiers who have joined the first battle with China in WW2, the word on the case is "支那事变", which is the name (on Japan's side) of that battle.

    Those are some very nice medals. My uncle served within the 18th division and got captured during the fall of Singapore during February of 1942. He was a royal corps of signal men. He ended up dying at the Chungkai prison camp on July 11th 1944 I thankfully got his medals after contacting the war office a few years back. 1939-1945 star, Defence medal, War medal, Pacific star. (These are British medals)

      Wow! That is so interesting. Your uncle was a brave hero. Thanks so much for commenting and for that information. Speaking of the pacific, a few years ago I bought an old photo of a man on an online auction. When I took the photo out of the frame to clean it a bunch of old documents spilled out of it. Inside were WWII American POW letters that were from Japan. The guy was captured by the Japanese on Wake Island. I did a video about this. If you want to see it here it is: ruclips.net/video/B5XfP_sNh9Y/видео.html

      Future's Past Thank you very much and I gave the video a watch. It’s highly sad that all those soldiers and civilians went to POW camps for years and have to suffer and never come home. During WW2 there was only a 27% survival rate in POW camps as I said my uncle was at Chungkai a small camp near the Burma railway and died of malaria over 12,000 soldiers and 120,000 civilians died making the railway. There’s also a movie on it.

      @@kristyzamonsky3136 Hi Kristy. It is really sad what these brave soldiers went through. The men that survived must have suffered a lot with PTSD and various mental health disorders. Your uncle was a true hero and I appreciate you sharing his story with me. and watching my videos.

    Let’s see a follow up, I wonder if her collection grew :-)

      Since the video she got a bunch more, but stopped collecting them. Sadly she got disinterested in collecting them. She had me put them all up for sale in the small booth I have at an antique shop. No one is interested in them either and they are collecting dust. It breaks my heart.

      @@FuturesPast1 How much is she selling them for?

    • @FuturesPast1
      @FuturesPast1  2 года назад

      @@butter8723 To be honest I don't remember. She just stuck price stickers on them and I stuck them in my display case. I haven't been to my antique booth in months. Nothing sells there, lol.

      @@FuturesPast1 well if you can get access to some of them I might be interested in purchasing them if you’re able to list them on your Etsy. So they studied and not collecting dust. :-)

      @@butter8723 Okay. That would be great. I don't go to the antique ship anymore because I have bad anxiety issues and don't leave the house much.
      My husband goes there once a month to pay the rent. He should be going there shortly. I will have him take them all home and contact you. I found three more just now actually. I have them right here.
      One of them says European African Middle Eastern Campaign on it (WWII), another says In Eiserner Zeit 1916 on it (It's a German I give Gold For Iron WWI black iron medal), a USMC Occupation Service medal with Neptune riding a chariot medal, and a King George Queen Elizabeth Coronation Celebrations May 12th 1937 Lisburn Urban District Council Medal. My daughter forgot to drop those off at the antique shop.

    Do you have any way of knowing if a medal is real or a replica?

    • @FuturesPast1
      @FuturesPast1  2 года назад

      That is a good question. I am not an expert, but there are a few websites that show you how to tell if your medal is a replica or real. I forgot the names of these sites, but found them when I was doing a google search.

      Thank you. I'm sorry my daughter acted disrespectful in the video. She is 18 and was trying to act cool because she thought it was uncool to be in my RUclips video, lol. I was embarrassed by her behavior because she knows better.
