- Gore Magala is a monster of the ??? type first introduced in Monster Hunter 4. It is known to inhabit temperate zones. It is first encountered in one star Village Quests but will appear in other quests of other ranks up until five star in the village. It is also the flagship monster of Monster Hunter 4 and the juvenile form of Shagaru Magara. Gore Magala is a very unique wyvern, sharing traits and similarities to that of the Elder Dragons, possessing six limbs, including the clawed wings on its back. Though, its overall appearance and stance resembles a Pseudowyvern like the Nargacuga. Its body is covered in dark exoskeleton plates, with notable features including the hidden horns that are folded alongside its face, the lack of visible eyes and fanged jaws that are actually parts of its external armor plates. The other unique part is its wings, which are covered in jet-black fur that resemble a tattered and ragged cape.

When i fought gore on the boat, i repelled him right as he knocked me off the boat, and the camera focused on the area of the ocean where i fell in and put up "quest complete". Gore was the hero and i was the monster ALL ALONG :0

Gore magala usually cannot see you unless you step on it's scale clouds that's why its attacks are very inprecise and usually cover a wide area
When it enters Frenzy state it's senses sharpen and basically is telling you "I can see... I CAN FIGHT!!"

Here after my boi was announced for sunbreak, he's coming back lads more diabolical and stunning then ever
I had a dream last night where Gore was in the Ancient Forest. The scoutflies kept shifting between green and blue around him and when he got enraged, a black cloud spread out from the sky above the hunter that occasionally flashed purple. His ground virus traps looked like Lunastra's blue flames, but were black and fog-like with purple flickers. He also had a move like Deviljho's breath attack, but he stood on his hind legs when doing it. When his rage was over, the horns folded back and the cloud dispersed, allowing the original sky to be seen again. His hi-def textures were gorgeous, like an obsidian gargoyle. It was such a convincing dream that when I woke up, I genuinely believed that I had seen the future of World with Gore Magala in it.
But is it really Gore without a Frenzy-based storyline behind it? In my humble opinion, that's what makes him such a good monster, and why Generations Gore wasn't as cool.
With that said, I wouldn't mind his appearance in World if he did make one.

Nearly as bad as Rathalos' rage roar -> take-off fireball 100% guaranteed insta-hit if you had the gall to be anywhere near its face or general frontal region without Earplugs.

Alright, well, now that I'm G Crown, I think I've found something that's even more bullshit than Gore Magala's Wind Press --> Shadow Shot combo AND Rathalos' rage roar --> take-off fireball combo COMBINED.
You know how Shagaru Magala has those "random" spots of frenzy on the ground that appear and then explode a few seconds later? Well, G-Rank Shagaru's "random" (haha bullshit they're totally targeted) explosions are far more frequent, much more targeted, and explode slightly less than a second after appearing, giving you very little time to react, since usually you're in the middle of an attack animation or drinking a potion across the map. Even more bullshittingly, half the time, when he roars (which thankfully isn't often, he only roars when he's a) mounted or b) going into rage mode), one of them spawns right under your feet while you're stunned and you can't do anything about it. You see it coming from a mile away and can't do jack shit to stop or avoid it. You just have to sit there and go, "Welp, shit. That's either gonna kill me or do a shit-ton of damage because this is G-Rank." That whole move/mechanic is bullshit. It's basically a "Fuck you if you don't have High-Grade Earplugs by this point" from the game developers to the players. I mean, for rage Rathalos, at least you can make sure to avoid his head or dodge away from his frontal region when you see the roar coming, but with Shagaru Magala, the splodeys hit you from ANYWHERE, so you literally can't do anything if you get stunned by the roar, even if you dodged away.
I've been farming Shagaru Magala for a while since I need three mantles because I run three different weapon classes because I'm a masochistic grindy bastard, and I daresay that AT LEAST half the time I get hit, it's because of those oft-unavoidable splodeys. Let's count all the times they're unavoidable.
1. When you're drinking a potion from hundreds of feet away. (They LOVE to spawn at these moments.)
2. When you're getting up from an attack. (Not as frequent, but kind of rubbing salt in the wound. You got hit and took damage? Here, have some more damage!)
3. If they spawn and you're standing exactly in the middle of them. (This happens pretty often, since that's where they spawn by default, and the explosion's radius is slightly bigger than it appears to be when the spot appears on the ground. Unless you have Evade Distance Up on your armor set, evading once will not be enough for you escape the blast radius (note again that you only have about a second before it goes off). You have to either evade twice, time the four invincibility frames perfectly to coincide with the explosion (Evade +1 or higher helps with this), or move a little bit away and then evade.)
4. When you're in the middle of attacking him. (If you're attacking, then point three comes in, since your only option at that point is to evade twice, which can be hard to fit into the less-than-one-second time window if you're in the middle of an animation.)
5. When you're stuck in the after-guard animation. (This has only happened once or twice, but it's kind of a fuck-you since you successfully blocked an attack but then took damage anyways. You might as well have gotten hit at that point, eh?)
6. At the END of an evade animation. (Seriously, this has happened enough times that I think it might actually be programmed into the game. You evade away from one of his attacks, and land RIGHT in the middle of a spawning splodey. Like point five, at that point, you might as well have gotten hit. You avoided the attack but still took damage anyways.)
7. Sharpening. (Again, it spawns under you, so it doesn't help even if you're a hundred feet away from him, or if you've gone to the trouble to position yourself on the other side of that boulder that's supposed to be the only barrier on the map.)
Now, let's look at the scenarios in which Gore Magala's Wind Press --> Shadow Shot combo is unavoidable.
1. When you're standing directly under him when he takes off, which is kind of your fault anyways.
What about the scenarios in which rage Rathalos' rage roar --> take-off fireball combo is unavoidable?
1. When you don't have earplugs and were near his head when he went into rage, usually because you were in the middle of attacking it.
...So yeah, G-Rank Shagaru Magala is bullshit. I'd hardly get hit at all if it weren't for those damned splodeys. It's like trying to fight in the middle of a minefield, except you don't know where the mines are and can't avoid them because they magically appear under you every time you think you're in a safe spot.
Fuji Huynh Windpress in general is something I really hate about Rathalos nowadays. You'd think Hunters who could walk around with a sword ten times heavier than they are and who can survive falls from all the way up in the clouds with narry a scratch would be able to stand a little wyvern wind.
But nope, the moment you're in range of that wing flap OH MY GOD IT'S THE FUCKING WIND I HAVE TO COWER LIKE A BITCH FOR THE 3 WHOLE SECONDS IT'S GOING TO TAKE FOR THIS ASSHOLE TO FOLLOW UP WITH A FREE HIT.
Using a greatsword and attacking will give you a space of windpress immunity.
doesn't work on dragon wind, but if you need to get through a bit of wyvern wind, just use an overhead draw slash and you'll tank the hitstun.

The first video for 4th Gen I saw featured Gore Magala crushing a Tigrex's skull. Considering Freedom Unite was the first Monster Hunter game I played, Tigrex was like a god. And to see a new monster come in and kill Tigrex? I must wait to fight this new fiend until March. I will wait, Gore Magala. Bring your best to the table, I play to win.

I know it´s 4 years old, but I´ll reply anyway:
Gore Magala doesn´t hurt because it´s infected, in fact, it´s completely immune to its virus. Its virus is spread by its wing-scales, like the fine dust-like scales of a moth. These scales spread into the air like very fine hairs, which can be breathed in by other animals, which then get infected.
Gore Magala hurts because it´s stuck in its black shell, which is constantly too tight, causing it to be too small for the actual body and pressing it with great force.
Imagine being stuck in a baby chair while being a baby, then you grow up into a teenager but you still sit in this chair. At that point, the chair will press into you and you will feel pain.
When Gore Magala is old enough, it sheds out of this black shell, and its feelers are free, its eyes are free (Gore Magala is mostly blind) and its final mature stage, Shagaru Magala, can live without pain.
Shortly after maturing, Shagaru Magala´s feelers will harden into horns, because they are not needed for sight anymore.
Its red eyes will do the seeing.
After becoming a Shagaru Magala, it is able to shed scales normally for the rest of its life, with no restrictions.
However, a childhood in great and constant pain as well as its species being generally very aggressive, makes the new Shagaru Magala not less dangerous than its black larva stage.
Just in case anyone is confused. Gia Magara is a juvenile elder dragon. The Shagaru Magara is its adult form and is classified as a elder dragon

This was my first ever challenge in my first ever MH game :). He was the hardest 1st time fight ever for me. He started off the quest in a frenzied state which made the fight so much harder. This guy taught me all about positioning, timing attacks and dodging properly. Now I am waiting for world and sure hope he comes back!

Eh. In my opinion. Rise isn't really a main game. I would like to be able to fight him in a main game like iceborne. Note: i know it is an expansion. But it would also be cool to see gore in a realistic game.
@@apexshadow8825 Rise is as much of a main game as MH game can get. MH was never about graphics. They were making these games on chunky, PSP-looking-like engines till 2017, so shagaru and gore were also there. But now as time gone along MH Rise can't revert to that state completely due to rise of game dev standards. I think seeing him in more fantasy-like non-realistic world would be better, although I can't really understand your statement because rise is also very realistic, especially on PC

I love this monster, it is my 2nd favorite in the entire series, the first time I fought him in the demo and felt confident thinking "what?! Come on, this is hard difficulty?! it's cool and challenging but this is the best challenge in the demo??" then heard it screech again in a more terrifying way, watching the clouds of black mist flow rapidly from it's body, the sky turning dark, its wings turn into giant arms, and it somehow sprouting purple eerie glowing horns! My mouth dropped, I shut my 3ds quickly, and ran to the bathroom as quickly as I could! that's how awesome this monster is an how it made me love it so much, and that should be how terrifying that sight is to all new hunters!...I really hope he comes back even better than before in MHX :(

I only bought this game to unlock Samus Aran's armor. This is the most cinematic experience I've had on the DS before!!! And fighting this dragon was insane!!!!!!!!!!!! I finally killed him for the first time, and this music just made the whole intense!!!! my heart is still beating fast guys!

Returning to Rise! Get geared up hunters, we are about to face a true beast.
While listening to this, my heart started to beat fast. Truly a badass theme.
When this theme plays, you know you're in for one heck of a fight. Either that or you're doomed.

I was never able to get past this guy in 4 Ultimate. I have very minor PTSD cause of this guy. And he's coming to Sunbreak. Well. Time to conquer the old wall.
He's weak to fire, thunder, and dragon damage. If you just want to end the fight, hang beside his back legs and strike him, and try and sever his tail so you're less likely to be struck. A good weapon to use is the Dear Lutemis, a charge blade with deals fire damage. You can upgrade it from the Defender's Blade with 4 Rathian Shells, 6 Rathian Scales, and 5 Flame Sacs, which I would recommend over crafting it itself since it takes more materials and a Rath Marrow, which is a 15% carve off the tail of a Rathian, which means you have to sever the tail to try and get it. The Flame Sacs might take you a little bit to get since it's a 10% drop rate, but it's not too terrible since it's a body carve. I'd also recommend bringing as many potions and nullberries as you can to help slow down the Frenzy virus so you can trigger the attack boost. Bringing a Palico that specializes in healing also helps a lot. I'd also recommend armor that has good defense. I used a Tetsucabra set, which also resists Fire and Dragon damage and has the Auto-Guard skill, which helps a lot with reducing damage. Hope this helps.

I played this song when I was fighting a level 40 alpha carno in Ark Survival Evolved... I had my Therizinosaurus and 300 bullets ready to be fired from my fabricated pistol... In my head I was saying, "This is stupid. That's why I'm doing it!" This music made the battle so much more epic!
