Would it be possible to provide new link for prebuilt scripts? This is the only step that is not working for me since RageScriptEditor fails with path error to Configuration.meta file (file is there but program is searching in wrong path it seems) Thanks a bunch for providing all of this.
Hey man! Now that we got a part of the source code how far could this impact the modding scene and how much can we do with it right now? Its it really a gamechanger for the whole game?
It is no part of the source code : it is the full source code. About modding they have done an awesome work building tools for modding, but these tools are only for pc and don't let make some things. A good programmer could add some things as support Raytracing, dlss.. but I don't believe someone do it. The most interesting, from the "modding" part are the tools. A few are compiled but they are a lot which no. They include viewers (for anims,..), dcl builders : this is very interesting because the modding tools bypass the encryption the "containers" have, for this reasons new assets must be out. With the official tools you can edit them directly or make a dcl which will run without need of installing any external program. This is great for console versions. (I believe they are some modding on ps3, ps4 versión but no know how far they have gone). You can adding animations, you can build new "cut scenes"....
Android ports are probably never gonna happen. You'd need a LOT of effort to get RAGE working on Android, and Rockstar would most likely shut you down before any big steps.
@@realduck2 Most of the source code will be relatively easy to port, finding the right compiler and getting it to work is the hardest part. Some parts of Rage code will have to be rewritten if they communicate with the hardware or Windows API directly and controls have to be adapted to touchscreen and all of that is doable in a few years Rockstar can only take down stuff that's posted on GitHub or Modding forums. They won't be able to prevent it for the same reason they are powerless to prevent us from downloading and using the source code The only things you need to have are knowledge and absurd amount of *DETERMINATION*
@@narrativeless404 a lot more will have to be rewritten than just some parts. porting to different OSes is a very difficult process that doesn't just take editing a couple of lines of code. it would probably need an entire team having a LOT of RAGE knowledge, and half of the src code recoded. I mean, I'm not saying it's impossible, just very unlikely.
@@narrativeless404 I have experience with porting apps to Android, and I can tell you it is a very difficult process. However I do not know the exact case with GTAV as I have not attempted to port it, but I do have quite a bit of knowledge about the subjects.
