  • In the past decade, private equity has moved aggressively into health care, gobbling up physician practices and even entire hospitals. But what exactly is private equity? And what does its involvement mean for patients and for the American health care system? KHN explains.

This is so important and should be shouted from the rooftops. This is not good news for patients and serves to make some people very rich and the inequality in the USA even more stark.

Private equity has been devastating to Massachusetts, these companies are reaping huge profits and shutting down hospitals across the country. Please protect the public from predatory private equity companies.

the healthcare services were always trying to cut on costs at the expense of quality. the number of indian doctors nd nurses in the global helthcare system is the symptom of just that.

This is a very one sided video. The topic is worth discussing but there are good actors in this space too.

There is an inherent conflict of interest when the owner of a healthcare facility is equity owned. I would love to see any evidence at all that over the long term, patient outcomes are better, cheaper, and staff quality of life remains the same or improves.
Healthcare should not provide financial value to shareholders, it should be about keeping the population healthy. Health expenditure per capita is nearly double in the US vs other advanced western countries.

Very one sided observation. Failed to mention insurance companies also investing heavily in hospitals and physicians practices. There is strong evidence that quality of care increases when you have healthcare providers focus on healthcare and not on the running of the business.
It’s actually ludicrous that the narrator states that PE backed healthcare companies are billing fraudulently. This is highly unlikely when there is a great amount of scrutiny placed on compliance in order to protect investors monies.
Sounds like this message is agenda driven.

Says the "Dr." CHIROPRACTOR who's running a corporate management group. God, is there no end to your unscrupulousness?
