I barely tell difference between bronze-gold, do gold players think they're good?
@@ultimateblaze23 statistically when you look at the breakdown of rank distribution, gold players are in the 30th percentile, plat players are in the 56th percentile.
I wouldn't say gold players think they are good, as a plat player I dont think I'm good but in reality I'm better than half of the ranked player base statistically.
Call this series “Fake it till you make it” or something lol
The gold players were trolling, but the bronzes tried hard while making fundamental mistakes .
I'm a high plat/low diamond mercy otp (gross I know, I need help). What sold me on the Mercy was her being the first dead in almost every team fight, she was heal-botting way too much and instead of pushing with her team when they were going into the attackers spawn on 3rd point, she stayed with the Hanzo in the back. She also kept super jumping in the open quite a bit. And for Kiri, it was the high noon death that sold that for me. Love the content, Emongg, I'd love to see this series more often, it's so fun to guess the bronze!
I was the ball, and I’m a high diamond/masters support main and I made sure to give her a couple of these tips after the game! she always went for the strangest rezs that got her killed, super big indicator of bad game sense.

I did in fact panic on the cassidy. I was not ready to get cass ulted at all; not while knowing that many many people will watch that gameplay after the game was over xd
For me I checked was watching the beam usage. She would use boost as the fight started, but once damage started happening, she would stick to heal beam only. I higher level mercy will prioritize damage boost when possible.
I get to play "Spot the Bronze" every time I play ranked, except I'm in Plat.

I noticed right away it wasn’t the Cassidy’s because they both use the flick method when shooting.
My plat friend tracks on Cass and ashe, so I don't see how you can tell the rank from aim style
Ana/Lifeweaver from the game here! I am devastated on how you watched my gameplay for 10 seconds and went "Nah, its not this one" xd. I picked Lifeweaver after hitting that (at least I thought that it was cool :>) crazy sleep on the ulting rein because I felt like I was doing "too good" for trying to blend in the bronze and I never play Lifeweaver. And then my positioning just stabs me right into my back xd It was really fun tho, one of the most fun games I ever played in Overwatch because everyone was so cool!
for me as a mercy player i knew it was the mercy bc of just how sluggish she was
like during first point when she few to the genji then the soul she never looked at her team to make sure they were good or if she was safe for the rez
next was that valk on 2nd, she should’ve died on cart for a full regroup instead of trying to save herself against a cassidy who would’ve taken her out
from there it was just sluggish movement and having a savior complex with boot being focused on her pockets and just weird decision making
i think when focusing on movement for mercy, you need to think about does the mercy know where theyre going, what specific movement theyre using, and when theyre using it. i think this mercy relied on super jump too much and didnt seem to know where she should stay or have her next spot in mind, on top of already not looking around before she moved/esp before she super jumped. def things to keep in mind if anyones looking to improve at mercys movement. obviously her first death can happen in any rank, mistakes happen, but i cant think of a reason for any mercy to be in that spot unless they didnt think before they moved there and its what made me focus on her a lot more the whole video

I wanna walk through my thought process here, because I think it'll be fun. I'll include timestamps to what I'm referring to as well (This is also my first attempt at something like this! It was fun!)
1:43 - Reinhardt (Team 1 Tank): It is absolutely NOT the Rein. I can believe that a Bronze player would accidentally cancel their Charge, but there is no way they'd think to immediately swing their hammer afterwards unless it was out of pure instinct.
2:22 - Genju (Team 1 DPS A): Genji's flick around dash up to the rooftop without checking to make sure it was right shows that the Genji is at the very least very knowledgeable of this map. It's likely not him, but I'll hold any certainties for now.
3:16 - Cassidy (Team 1 DPS B): It is NOT the Cassidy. Their reaction to Hammond landing on the roof was way too calm, and the fact that they didn't leave the roof after they got dove on, and even after the Ball went down below. Shows that Cass has at least some experience.
4:14 - Mercy (Team 1 Support A): Mercy doing the tricks with Guardian Angel makes me think that it isn't her either. I feel like many Bronze players wouldn't know about that, or wouldn't think it does enough to warrant it.
4:33 - Marcy: That said, this Rez is very greedy, but I feel like it's Bronze greedy, compared to just mindlessly going for an ally for the Rez because they're down.
5:43 - Mercy: It is absolutely NOT Mercy. Between the other notes, this Mercy also uses Damage Boost quite a bit during fairly appropriate times.
6:00 - Kiriko (Team 1 Support B): Right now, I'm thinking it's Kirko, not only because I'm out of other options, because, while she has hit a decent number of headshots, I expect Kiri to teleport out basically as soon as she takes damage here. She didn't even think about using her Teleport here though.
7:52 - Hanzo (Previously Cassidy): While Hanzo's aim isn't great, ti seems about right for Gold Rank. That said, Hanzo actually thought to go back into spawn for free heals. I feel like a Bronze Player would have just gone out, assuming that a healer would have gotten them.
16:07 - Team 2: Oh god, this is gonna be rough. For Team 1 though, currently between Genji and Kiriko, leaning Kiriko.
16:23 Lifeweaver (Team 2 Support B): It is definitely NOT Lifeweaver. I don't think a Bronze would know that they can pull someone out of Mauga's Ultimate.
17:96 - Dva (Team 2 Tank): It is definitely NOT Dva. The instant use of her remech shows, to me, that they are very familiar with the character. Not to mention the bm (It is funny to watch though)
18:25 - Widowmaker (Team 2 DPS A) - Getting repeatedly picked up and carried by the platform is very funny to me. Currently leaning towards this Widow as the Bronze for Team 2.
18:40 - Lucio (Team 2 Support A) - Hey, they used speed boost. Pretty sure it's not Lucio.
19:30 - Venture (Team 2 DPS B) - Pretty solid Gold DPS play right there. It's probably not the Venture.
21:44 - Kiriko (Team 2 Support A) - It's definitely NOT the Kiriko. I don't think a Bronze player could be very effective with Suzu, even if it is to just heal a group of teammates.

8:50 was that Genji and Hanzo saying the same voice line at the same time or a bug in the replay? That was freaky.
mythic voice lines sound/are different in genji’s case they sound glitchy/doubled :DDD
God. I called the mercy from the beginning. Poor Valk use.
Gonna be honest, I feel like what gives away the Gold players were just trolling aspect and how willing they are to swap and just play whoever (some cases that works like the Hanzo not really playing them much). Red cass ended up emoting while nano'd near the end so I kinda had to just go with Kiri/Lucio and then the WB + Rein were spinning together and constantly waving hello
Blue mercy didn't really look around. When she was valking/superjumping, she'd only look at her beam target, and she was superjumping without checking if it's safe AT ALL. she valked at 20 hp after a lost fight in front of multiple enemies and instantly died.
Hi, Emongg! Bronze support here! I noticed that you were paying WAY too much attention to the movement! The mercy had my vote almost immediately, and i feel that if you had payed attention to WHAT she was doing, rather than how she was moving, she would have had yours too! SHE WAS HEALBOTTING. and ONLY healbotting. She got a lot better later on in the match, but in the beginning she was PURELY healing. she also flew into a purple Rein, and stayed there for a second before realizing, "oh i cant heal that". Also, she was constantly healing full-health allies, and keeping the health beam on them, rather than switching to the damage boost. Also, most of those revs looked kinda suspect. But as for the movement, you can EASILY learn mercys movement before you leave bronze, ESPECIALLY with how hard it is to rank up in support. Also, you were putting too much stock in bronze aim. Not many widow's would be able to aim like that. Having good aim isn't something that just happens in bronze. I was actually kinda aggravated by how many times you mentioned the movement. you might also notice that the valkrye that went into the bridge was kinda weird. It looked like a quick desperation ult that quickly went bad. not very good planning for a gold player. Now, as for the Lucio/Kiriko, yeah they were just kinda trash that match. and not in a "im gonna throw myself at the enemies all the time and screw up my aim to look bronze" bad, (which is what i think the RED widow was doing at the beginning, pay attention to the way the aim is SO off on the lucio at the beginning). But rather "im bronze and have NO CLUE how to play these high-skill, high-value characters". Im really happy i could get here before all the comments flood this video, and this gets drowned out and goes nowhere.

The mercy one wasnt surprising the rezs werent awful but they have plenty room to improve, their movement was ok but its clear they dont know when to just boost with space or to go straight up and lastly the perma piss beam killed it even more.

As a support player I immediately keyed in on the supports, but it could be I'm just harsher on a role I know. The DPS players looked like they started to play normal then realized they had to look bad to appear bronze. Whereas the supports looked lost the entire time (minus the LW). If you want to rise in rank as support you have to look for opportunities as well.

EDIT2: Neither of them used abilities in reaction to what was happening, and when they did they took two seconds too long to decide. Mercy had overall potato positioning, what sold me was the moment at 8:53 when she was REALLY confused, you wouldn't see that in gold. Lúcio dying on payload at 15:35 was the exact same "confused" vibe I got from Mercy but I wasn't sure I saw Kiriko at 22:30 when she threw a suzu at Ball too early to count, tried to shoot sleeping Reinhardt, managed to miss three shots on sleeping Reinhardt, then after he got away instead of TPing in with others she chose to stay behind to heal full HP Ana

i kinda think any player meme'ing like the rein should just make the game end and him be kicked and banned from future versions. defeats the purpose tbh
why i knew it was the mercy:
- sluggish movement
- healbotting way the much
- that valk on last point first round was bad
- so much super jumping
- doesnt look if rezzing is safe
- why not push with team on last point first round? instead of staying with hanzo that mercy could have provided value to the team that pushed up
- died too fast
- plays lucio mercy (worst support comb)
- that ult on the bridge.. (why did they ult??)
- doesnt switch when theres no value on her dmg boosting (widow and tracer are dps, no good targets to dmg boost)
the rein was too silly to be bronze lol he was so funny and i knew it was lucio when he heal boosted nothing lmaooo

I feel like the thing that makes it hard is the reason you are at youre rank. For instance im in high gold/plat almost entirely due to positioning and ability usage. My actuall aim is terrible and my eyesight is pretty poor. So you put me on something like Widow and id look like a Paper 5 player
Tbh, it's hard to tell the difference between high elo mercy and low elo mercy
as someone who plays mercy you focused to much on her movement she seemd to heelbot way to much she wasnt making use of one of her most important abilitys dmg boost and there were many other moments that gave it away immediately
Man, a simple strat, would be to off role and play your worst hero and have the bronze play their best hero with no trolling/over-acting because this is so obvious smh.

Im plat on all roles and the mercys will have good movement, but the only time youll see a blue beam is when youre in spawn waiting for the game doors to open, then they go and yellow beam the full health tank and type dps diff when we lose... so yeah i thought the mercy wasnt bronze too. 💀
I knew it was mercy from the beginning. She was “healing” her full health team mates even on valk. Not blue beam usage at all. Watching bronze players it’s like watching bloopers and that was the case with Kiriko, they have mental lag so reactions are slow af, they use abilities for no reason and make you think “what are they doing with their cooldowns?!” 😂
My guess for team one was tracer bc she just looked so lost all the time
My second guess was the mercy idk who it is yet but those are my two first guess for team one

So, a top 500 player can’t tell a bronze Mercy from a gold one. That’s saying something about Mercy. What rank does a Mercy player have to get to before they detectably have more than bronze level skill? Diamond? Masters? GM5?
No he should have been able to spot it earlier. He was focusing on the wrong things that the Mercy was doing. Mercy one tricks at most levels have good movement but the lower you go the worse their overall positioning gets. The real way to tell is just how little and whom they are using damage boost on

Honestly, I thought all four but the Rein on the first team were bronze and whoever sent this in was just messing with you. The Mercy was often looking the wrong way and never boosted dam, the Kiri used a bad ult (we didn't see her enough tbh), the Hanzo's movement was awful and the Genji just seemed all over the place. As for the other team, I'm lost as to how it took you so long lol. The first time we see the Lucio, he's got two enemies right behind him and he doesn't know... Then every time we see them after that he's doing something almost equally as bad.
If there's anything I'd improve about this video (though I loved it), it would be clarification of if PC or console (I know you can spot by watching, but it's so much easier if you just know right away), because I feel like saying what rank somebody is without clarifying that is only half saying what their rank actually is. Also, you said the lobby is gold one as an average, which would make the eight players around mid plat, but the video title and your comments kept referring to them as gold players. Basically I'm being very nit picky I know, but it makes it far harder to try to follow along and work out who's the bronze when I'm spending half my time trying to work out if everybody else is console gold or pc plat, which is like a three rank disparity.
