Where are all my “Day-tah” people at? I do use my cell phone on the go and sometimes when wifi is overloaded at my house I like being able to use the cellular network which is faster.
Yeah it's day-tah I use my phone for work so I need to have unlimited data because I can't risk running out in the middle of working in the middle of the month
I switched to US Mobile last month and it feels like getting out of a 20 year abusive relationship with verizon. paying less than half the price for the same coverage (uses verizon towers) and more data.
I scrolled down here to suggest MVNO's in general and US Mobile in particular. Just moving to them will cut your plan by at least half. When using the suggestions in the video ("data saver" options in your phone) you can really work US Mobile's custom plans. For example, instead of getting enough text messages to cover your worst month, buy only enough to cover what you use on average and buy a big block of texts. Those roll over. Data is the same.
My wife and I have been using US Mobile for over a year now, they are great. It seems like every couple months they improve their plans and make the app more user friendly. For example, we pay $25 per line for unlimited talk/text and 12GB a month. 1 year ago we could only get 5GB a month for that price at US Mobile. One downside is sometimes the speed is slow, despite having good coverage. But that varies depending on your situation/location.
As someone in my mid 20s, I love what you guys teach. These are all things I wish we were taught in school. Also you guys are an awwsumm couple. That's my 2 cents
Fact. School doesn't teach students about finances, credit score, and the real world. School just teach students what the real world doesn't need. College a different story. Depending on your choice of career
@@masonmichalec2942 That's now how capitalism works. Most companies are designed to maximize profits, but that doesn't mean that they are ripping people off. They provide a service. If they have a monopoly they may be ripping you off (like the power company). Cell phone companies have competition. If you think a company is ripping you off, switch to another company. I use Boost Mobile. 6GB data/month, unlimited talk and text. $35/month including taxes. The catch is that the coverage isn't very good, but it works great for me 95% of the time.
@@luanamendes4767 While possible, I believe most dont use the amount that the providers "cap". For example, xfinity/comcast I think is 1.3TB which is 1,300 GB. And if you do go over once in a while, they usually waive the charge maybe like one or two months in a year.
@@sovashadow while I don’t have personal experience with that, I would be concerned now that lots of people are working and studying from home. And like the video says, no one knows how much data is actually used. I think the bigger problem here is that it sets precedent
@@luanamendes4767 I thought that was a give-in. I've never heard unlimited data from home internet providers. Maybe if you bundle with phone and cable. Xfinity only gave us a list of limited data plans for our home internet. Most were very generous data plans and we were only looking for exclusively home internet, not to bundle, but limited data plans none the less.
I only have 3 GB of “day-tah” on my phone, I’ve only gone over one time when I was driving an abnormally large amount. I circumvented this by downloading my Spotify playlists and google maps at home before I went out and had no issues after that.
@@TKUA11 well he downloaded his Spotify playlist from wifi so it makes sense that if he wanted a game or app that is that big it would've been done via the hotspot.
5 years ago, my husband and I were paying $150/mo for Verizon. Now, our US Mobile plans are $20/month each. Plans where you pay for what you use is definitely the way to go. We have to buy our phones outright but that also helps us use our phones until they are dying instead of getting a new one every 2 years.
I love the outro, and I'm glad to hear you guys speaking out more for low-income people as a group. I've noticed as a 23-year old that there is a weird trend of friends/family implicitly blaming/resenting individuals for lacking "personal responsibility" in their actions, especially when my friends come from places of priviledge, and it's disturbing how we look at poor people because that "isn't our problem" or "I made it out fine" type of attitudes!
I'm middle class and I constantly see people live better (more lavishly) than me even though they make 1/2 of what I make. It's hard to be sympathetic when they run into money problems. The people who are truly poor (who live at the poverty level) are not included in the group I don't have sympathy for. Minimum wage is rough... However, where I live McDonald's, KFC, Wal-Mart, etc. are paying $11-12/hour. Decent apartments can be found for $1,000/month for a 2 bedroom. If you have a roommate and you both work that is enough to make ends meet. $11*40*52/12= $1,906/month... You will need to get your taxes back and get government assistance for health care.....
Well most homeless people in my town of Portland are homeless by choice . They would rather spend all their time abusing substances and not have responsibility. And I agree, it is our problem because they use our tax dollars without contributing anything to society besides garbage and graffiti
I missed you guys and you’ve helped me through out this tough year.$45 for unlimited data at 22GB unthrottled the rest potentially throttled . I’m an essential worker but don’t stay on site for lunch and breaks. I kept upping my data and using 19Gb-25GB months to month. So it saved me to just go for $45 a month prepaid instead of paying $25/$35+$10+$10+$10. $55/$65 vs $45. I ended saving more and getting more. I follow forums for finding the best prices year round. Love you guys and stay safe with you and your family!
So what I learned from this video is since I use almost all of my 50 GB limit I’m getting a pretty awesome deal. I work a lot on the road and I stream a lot of educational videos for my students. It sucks that everyone else is getting ripped off though.
2Cents, Love your videos 💛 Talking of carriers, in India, almost all of them have cleverly changed plans, which in one aspect are slightly more expensive. Earlier we used to pay for voice calls and data separately. And the data plans started from few MBs and days. So, essentially we could enjoy voice calls without even having an active data plan. However, now these companies have schemes that combine both calls and data plans. You need to pay for both even though you might need just one. They have erased all other cheaper options! For e.g. I pay nearly ₹350 for 84 days which includes 1GB data/day, free voice call to same network and 3000 minutes on other network. Many a times, I dont even consume half of these but end up buying same plan as no other cheaper option is available.
Friend of mine has an older model 256 GB samsung tablet that he bluetooths downloaded music from all day. 200 GB is a lot of music (like 20,000 songs).
thank you for the message at the end of the video. I am a Youth Housing Case Manager and i struggle daily when my clients come to me with too high of rent cost. These are young people who either don't have a lot of education because of their age or they don't have a lot of work experience. Both reasons to pay someone low wages. Their wages cannot keep them housed and unfortunately every one of my clients has already been homeless before. It is so hard to find them affordable housing with the markets the way they are. My employer is a non-profit that offers them low rent studio apartments but grant-funded programs only allow them to be here for so long. They have to find other housing after 18 months and that's not a lot of time to earn more income and then they fall right back into the same cycle of being unable to afford housing. It sucks that it is my job to keep them housed and find them something affordable but there is nothing affordable.
I have a college diploma in Accounting. I am also a life-licensed insurance agent. I have learned more from your videos, than the education/training of both those combined. Please keep up the phenomenal work that you both do.
I really like how you thoughtfully addressed and answered the questions concerning evictions and society at the end of your video. I'm looking forward to more of these type segments. I really appreciate the work you all do. Thank you.
That's curious: a phone/internet common plan in italy (data usable on the whole UE) is: unlimited SMS, call and 50GB 4G, around 6-10€ every 28days (~13 month)
There's not enough regulation on phone plan pricing in USA like other utilities. Also, phone companies like to roll the cost of handsets into phone bills (probably at a markup).
I spend 2/3 of my income on housing, and the final part of the video really surprised me for good. Just hearing your opinion about it, about how it is bad to live like this, reinforce my willingness to do more to change it. I'm 25 years old, I sometimes feel a little tired of not being able to live a plenty life, one about just caring about the things "that I enjoy" and when I do, I feel guilty. All cause when I start thinking about how our generation entirely is having a bad time trying to get a 🏡 home sweet home. A shared feeling in my country. That's why I spend my procrastination time looking for motivation to keep growing, find a solution and be ready to really be able to have a family to grow ourselves for good. That's why it was so nice to get your recognition for it. Thx
THANK YOU FOR LITERALLY DOING MY JOB IN A 9 MIN VIDEO. LOVE THIS. CANT EVEN DESCRIBE HOW HARD IT IS TO EXPLAIN THIS DAY IN AND DAY OUT TO PEOPLE WHO DONT EVEN KNOW WHAT WIFI IS.
I always enjoy seeing that I have a new video from you! I share these with my subordinates in the hopes that they’ll become and stay financially sound and ready to retire when the time is right.
I love, love, love everything you're doing. Keep it up! You two - and your team - are a blessing to the entire free world. At 8:30, you didn't answer the question of why communities are banning new affordable housing. In my home of rural Carroll County, GA, building codes have been amended to squeeze out single family low-cost housing in favor of McMansions that bring in more tax revenue. In my hometown, there are EXACTLY SIX homes for sale. Three are over a half-million dollars. NONE are affordable for most residents of the area. Good properties are on the market for hours, not days. The tax commission is the reason that lower-middle class families actively are chased away.
I never really thought about this. I always assume unlimited plans were better. The prices didn’t look that drastically different. Also I think I like the safety of the unlimited plan, sometimes you don’t know what you will be doing in the future or where you will be and may need to use more data so that assurance that you have unlimited data is nice
You guys are so wonderful. I especially love the one where you point out that being poor does costs more. Not a lot of people are aware of that. Thank you!!
Just scrolling through ATT's website I can find a 12 month prepaid advance plan. Appears to be their cheapest plan by far. It looks like I could get a higher cap and pay half as much per month if I were to move to that plan. That said there are often a lot of extra fees other than the big highlighted sticker price and I haven't actually gone through the cart to see what the 'final' price would be. Won't be surprised if access charges/etc push it up a fair bit.
Oh, I know exactly how many MB's I use. The last few years I lived in an area with metered internet, it's $25 per 1GB. You keep very close track of your data, or you could spend $1000 on internet for this month...
I really appreciate y'all! I share your videos with everyone! I use the wisdom that you put in them. I live abroad in Latin America. The cell phone prepay plans make more sense for me. Actually, I pay about $16-18 a month.
This is why I love my current carrier (Consumer Cellular) so much. It's meant for older people so it's got quite a lot of holes in its phone lineup. But the pricing structure is amazing. It basically splits the difference between "pay as you go" and a contract plan. You pay each month, but instead of a contract you're phone just gets shut off if you don't pay, but it doesn't effect your credit score. For data you pick a plan and aren't locked into one plan. You pick your plan, and if you go over your just bumped up to the next level. No fees, just a change in plan you can change back later. I wouldn't dream of switching to anyone else.
Also to actually answer the question asked. I now don't know how I pronounce that word. I think I might use it differently depending upon the context, but I might mainly say Day-ta.
realising how much Americans pay. Here in Ireland, i have unlimited for 13 euro a month and if i had been quick and got a deal i couldve paid only 10 a month.
@@shaereub4450 I could pay that but I just checked and I have already used 17gigs this month and there is a few days left. 😆 I pay 50 for unlimited and I do need it as the other middle plan is 10gigs
This something I wish more people considered! I have wifi at home, work, the gym, and at school. The only time I really use data outside of them is for Spotify or using Google Maps, but you can download albums/your local area to save data. So I just got a year of 3gb a month (as I usually use less than 2) from mint for $15 a month, they use the T-Mobile network (Which I had before) so nothing changed in terms of coverage, the only thing that did was my bill!
As a Kevin, I am glad I was featured in this episode. #blessed. That being said, I can definitely relate to this, as a heavy user of my phone, I still only managed to use 20GBs on my highest usage month from the last 4 months.
Excellent video! I was recently looking into this and realized I usually use less than 1 GB per month! And even during travel with poor WiFi it only went up to 6.6 GB, which would be well covered by one of the cheaper plans. Wish I would have looked into this years ago but better late than never I suppose! :)
Remember instead of investing on expensive plans get a good vpn instead. You can use public wifi without any security issues and save money on plan data
We are doing the family plan for 15gb data for 4 phones + home internet on one company: AT&T. But the bill is still at least $300/month and reaches to over $400 in some cases without including overuse charges. We do use a lot of the home internet.
Can't relate with this episode. Here we buy phone and sim card separately. I use prepaid, it's a hussle to top up every month, but it's cheaper since I can change it everytime based on my needs.
My phone plan is quite cheap, around $20 a month for unlimited data. It's this cheap because we have a legacy family bundle or whatever it's called, where we got like 7 family members to sign up. Since then, the deal has been discontinued, but we still have it for the really low price. However, the carrier is T-Mobile, and they don't have the best service. I don't use my phone much anyways. But I definitely did experience how fast data gets used up by streaming HD videos when I visited my family in Paraguay a few years back. On our farm, we had to climb up a big tower to set up a modem for WiFi, and we paid by the GB. Watching one 20-minute video chewed through the initial 2 GBs we bought, and I realized that I really couldn't watch videos there. It's a blessing here in America that we have better access to WiFi. Great video!
That's why I use Pay As You Go with monthly limit on card charge :) 1GB - €2 Unlimited data (300GB FUP with slowdown) - €14 Since I used on average ~3GB/month of data I usually stay on per 1GB plan :) (yeah sorry, it's in Europe not USA)
@@TheBoxingNinja I added that in - I use around 3GB (that means usually 3x 1GB plans as some MBs transfer over since the plan is always "from a day of activation" meaning if I use first 1GB in 13 days and it reactivates I have fresh 30 days to use them all up :) (so if I use 2,5GB in a month then I have "extra" 500MB at the start of the next one. So for me it's monthly usually €6 for my plan vs €14 unlimited offered by telco. Which means I usually save around €100 a year on my data.
@@NuSpirit_ I live in the US, think I can get a plan like this? The closest thing I know of like this is $10 for 1GB. I wish I knew a $2-$4/GB plan. Pay as you go.
@@TheBoxingNinja well... I think Ting is a thing in the US? Should be MVNO (virtual telco working under other network) and I think I saw couple of years ago an ad on Linus Tech Tips.
It's also often cheaper to get away from the big companies. For instance, you can get the exact same network as Verizon but with another carrier (search "verizon equivalent carrier"), because those companies basically buy access to Verizon's network and then sell much lower priced plans.
I am the sales guy you guys are talking about, trust I have tried to highlight this to a lot our customers as I am frugal, but are generally dumb about this. I have seen ppl pay for unlimited and use 200mb data in a month.
Hahahaha! I'm laughing in French. I pay 15€ for 90gb and some people say I pay too much (it should be 10€). With this much data you don't even need internet service at home.
As a Canadian I agree. The only thing going for the Canadian carriers is that Canada is bigger and less populated than the US so operating and initial costs are higher in proportion. Also, the cost of internet in Canada vs the US makes me cringe
To newbies to society, I would suggest to spend more at the start and then find the package that works best for you. 1) Sign up for the cheapest package of data first and then "add-on" data when you find its not enough 2) After 1 month, take a look at the total data that you have purchased/used and add on 10% for just in case. When I first started out, I used a prepaid plan and 2 gbs of data, then found myself adding 2gbs more to my package cause I have to or I wouldn't be able to use my phone properly for school. From the next month on, I always purchase 5 gbs plan cause that is what my mobile company provides. Once I started working, I did the same thing again. 5gbs cause I know thats my base line. Then finding myself adding more gbs cause of work requiring me to constantly be online. Its always the safest option, i paid more for my first month, but from that month onwards, I have been paying for what I use instead of letting it "burn"
This is why I am on an 8 Gb contract. Two years ago I only had 2 Gb, and that was restrictive but manageable (it was before I had a car so I didnt need to use my phone as a satnav). I'd recommend asking your provider to put a cap on your spending. NY phone will not let me use over the data limit, or call any phones which would charge me
PdaNet+ shares the Internet access of your Android phone with your computer or tablet Basically he's using his dataplan as a hotspot for his other device. There are some usecases for this but it's almost always cheaper to get a real internet connection instead.
You HAVE to look around for carriers, because the cost adds up over time to potentially even more than your phone. (US) "Normal market prices", meaning many carriers offer plans in that range, but still priced below the large carriers is $15-$30/month for 3-5 GBs, and $40+ for larger plans. If interested, you can ask for suggestions on plans/carriers if you couldn't find something on the web. Check out MVNOs (Mobile Virtual Network Operators). These companies often offer cheaper plans, but you won't get bundled streaming services as you would with the larger carriers when on pricier plans, supposedly can be slower, and don't offer promos on phones like the large carriers "Switch to xx now, and save $400 on a new xx 7", but remember, if you're on a pricey phone plan, eventually, you will pay more for cell service than for the phone itself. (Unless you switch phones often, but... do you?) More Paragraphs in the comments: KNOWING HOW MUCH DATA YOU USE CUTTING YOUR DATA USAGE WHAT DATA PLAN IS RIGHT FOR YOU?
KNOWING HOW MUCH DATA YOU USE For Android, it's relatively straight forward and you can check in the settings. How to navigate settings vary on the version of Android, so if you don't see it, just try typing "Data" in the search bar in the Settings app. For iOS, it's less straight forward, so you might want to download a mobile data tracker app. KNOWING how much data you use also means you can know if your plan is too big for you, and if you can downsize to a smaller, cheaper plan.
CUTTING YOUR DATA USAGE Most likely the biggest Data suckers are videos, and streaming in general. Some in the comments have also said Google Maps. You should be able to see which apps use the most data and change your behavior accordingly. *BASICALLY, if you are interacting with the internet in real time, you typically are using a lot of data if not on WiFi. VIDEOS: Videos are pretty simple, they're just fast moving pictures. (Probably oversimplified) Typically videos are 30 fps (frames per second) = your phone showing 30 pictures per second, so they're big files. So if the videos isn't on your phone itself and you're not on WiFi, either don't watch, or if you can or want to, lower the quality. GOOGLE MAPS: support.google.com/maps/answer/6291838? Summary: You can, in the app, download offline maps, it'll take up storage on your phone, but most phones nowadays have a decent amount. And also, live traffic conditions won't work. And to force it to use the offline map, you need to turn on WiFi only in the settings of Google Maps. GAMES and GOOGLE DOCS: (Some) online multiplayer games and Google Docs refresh constantly every few seconds. Google Docs to save your progress, and to check if there if other users made edits, and games because it needs to constantly refresh to check your opponent's moves and display that on your screen. They're Data suckers, and they're not much you can do apart from not using them. Music and Video streaming services: Typically, if you pay for the premium subscription, you may be given the option to download the media (do it over WiFi), and play it away from home without using data. It's a bit more tedious and subscriptions cost money, but fine if you already have the subscription.
WHAT DATA PLAN IS RIGHT FOR YOU? First of all, there's the amount of data, which you should know if you know how much data you usually use. And second Network coverage, but if you're living in a big enough place, it should be usually fine. Those two tend to be the easier questions. FAMILY PLAN: Is a family plan that cuts the sticker price of a "pricy" plan better or worse than a lower-cost plan, after factoring in perks and benefits (Hotspot capability, international calls, free Disney+, etc.) "UNLIMITED": Real vs so-called unlimited. From a big carrier, it can really be a true unlimited plan, or if you're on AT&T, "AT&T may temporarily slow data speeds if the network is busy", or more commonly on smaller carriers "X Gbs of high-speed data, and 2G data afterwards. These plans are typically marketed by their Gbs and not as "Unlimited", perhaps for legal reasons, but unlimited 2G data is a FEATURE. The speeds can be so low that you have trouble loading a webpage, but it's your safety data, so that you can still get notifications after you 'ran out of data'. BUILD-YOUR-OWN-PLAN: Some small carriers do this, and a hack is that you can not pay for calls and text or very little in case you accidentally pick up on a robocall because unlimited Calling and Texting can cost $10 on these build-your-own-plans, and put all your money towards data. You then get a VoIP # (Voice over Internet Protocol), basically internet phone # from a service like Google Voice, and you make calls and texts on that # over data. (This is getting into kind of complicated territory, and if you run out of data, then... yikes.) (Also internet phone #s can't call 911, but by law, all phones are required to have an emergency call feature, so you can still make emergency calls, just not from the VoIP phone #. FEATURES: Mobile Hotspots, International Calling, 5G. Does the plan have what you care about? FEES: Do you think you will go over the data limit once in a while or make international calls? What are the costs/fees of that? And also "service charges" and base charge per line.
Most large corporations also have discounts for cellular data/phone usage. Sometimes they might be about 20-40% discount for plans. If you work for a large company, I would also check with your HR for promotions.
Even before quarantine began, the only places I ever used my phone were on campus or at home, both with wifi. So I opted to get the plan that offers 1.5 GB... a YEAR because I mainly need the service. Thanks to a reoccurring $50 off black friday deal, the whole annual plan cost me $75 before taxes or $6.25/month. That's less than some monthly plans.
Strictly speaking about Mobile data usage, I agree, we do not need to pay for most unlimited plans. You can also pay for temporary data boost when you go on vacations or are going to be away from secure wifi. Paying for one month of extra data is often better than paying for a service you ultimately aren't using.
I've done it in 2019. Here in Brazil Vivo (the largest carrier) have a prepaid option. You pay 300 reais (about 50 dollars) and get 100gb to use. There is no expiration date. No cap. And you get 99 days for calling people (you can receive calls for free). Each additional calling day is 1 real. Unlimited calls / call time (minutes) for the day.
At 8:40, as a landlord I can speak to this. The vast majority of low income renters are HIGH risk! Most landlords don't want to deal with the drama, risk and problems associated with most low income renters. When tenants can't pay rent their problems and burdens become our burdens and if we can avoid it, why wouldn't we? Dispite what tenants think most landlords are not rich. And maintaining a property is far more expensive than tenants realize. In 2018 I spent $41k in one property alone, in Columbia SC area!! The fair market rent was only $1400/month.

Where we live in Sweden we just recently got broadband installed actually. So before that we had a plan with 200gb (!!) which was in general close to used. We had an average between 120-200 gb. How is this possible? Well since this was the only thing we had it was used for our Tv, our laptops, the printer, the security camera, one iPad and some smart home devices. My husband was constantly doing online classes and I was using zoom meetings a lot and then off course watching news and such via streaming. And then also data was being used to make back ups and updates and such and we did not have the possibility to connect to public Wi-Fi and such. Our deal was and is very good we think. The same price as about two pizzas is what we pay monthly. And IF we get data left we can have up to 50 gb saved to use whenever!
Here in India, I pay 400 rupees= 5.48$ for 84 GB 4G data for 56 days with unlimited calls. The problem I face most of the time is my screen time, its hitting a daily average of 6 hrs.

Apparently internet providers are now also capping how much data you use in tour home internet.
And now we are living online and that's our new cave. Modern Cavemen.

So glad! it IS weird and disturbing. We've personally come a long way in untraining ourselves but there's no questions we've got a ways to go.

Talking of carriers, in India, almost all of them have cleverly changed plans, which in one aspect are slightly more expensive.
I'm one of the few who desperately needs the unlimited being a truck driver lol I burn through 100 GB easily. Using music, gps and what not lol

thank you for the message at the end of the video.

That's curious: a phone/internet common plan in italy (data usable on the whole UE) is: unlimited SMS, call and 50GB 4G, around 6-10€ every 28days (~13 month)
I'm using a plan in France which is almost the same and it was a promotion. It could be cheaper for some very rare times.
In my country I pay 20€ for unlimited data, phone calls and SMS. This is only in USA...
I'm in Italy and I pay 8€ for 100gb+unlimited data. Markets in USA doesn't work so well I suppose.
There's not enough regulation on phone plan pricing in USA like other utilities. Also, phone companies like to roll the cost of handsets into phone bills (probably at a markup).

I never really thought about this. I always assume unlimited plans were better. The prices didn’t look that drastically different. Also I think I like the safety of the unlimited plan, sometimes you don’t know what you will be doing in the future or where you will be and may need to use more data so that assurance that you have unlimited data is nice

I have never encountered a carrier that makes you pay for a full year in advance for prepaid service, its always been a monthly charge.
This is PBS.

No questions, but damn, you two are my favorite celebrity couple.

We are doing the family plan for 15gb data for 4 phones + home internet on one company: AT&T. But the bill is still at least $300/month and reaches to over $400 in some cases without including overuse charges. We do use a lot of the home internet.

Right?! SAME!!

How many GB do you use? I have a plan that allows me 3GB a month, so I could let myself use 1 to 2gb a month.

I pay 6 dollars a month with an unlimited data package in Finland.
Home internet prices are so expensive that I feel like it’s a scam
You are both wrong, it is actually "data". Thanks for sharing, I try to pick the lowest plan there is, the salesperson is usually not impressed haha!
Data is the new oil. Thus, we purchase it always in excess so we never get in a tricky situation.😂
Me 25 still live with my parents and work from home. Coz it's impossible for me to get an appartment or rent a house.
Fk i wish, we get screwed in Canada by telecoms. 6gb starts at $40 and quickly goes up from there
In india we get 2gb /day for 28 days at less than $4 per month
To newbies to society, I would suggest to spend more at the start and then find the package that works best for you.
1) Sign up for the cheapest package of data first and then "add-on" data when you find its not enough
2) After 1 month, take a look at the total data that you have purchased/used and add on 10% for just in case.
NY phone will not let me use over the data limit, or call any phones which would charge me
I love "Its a Book!" A real page Turner.
I'm trying to get my first place now. Lord knows I don't have enough money.
You might think this is bullshit but I have PDA net installed on my jailbroken iPhone and I ripped through 400 GB a month
What’s a PDA net?
PdaNet+ shares the Internet access of your Android phone with your computer or tablet
Basically he's using his dataplan as a hotspot for his other device.
(Unless you switch phones often, but... do you?)
More Paragraphs in the comments:
KNOWING HOW MUCH DATA YOU USE
CUTTING YOUR DATA USAGE
WHAT DATA PLAN IS RIGHT FOR YOU?
KNOWING HOW MUCH DATA YOU USE
For Android, it's relatively straight forward and you can check in the settings.
CUTTING YOUR DATA USAGE
Most likely the biggest Data suckers are videos, and streaming in general.
FAMILY PLAN: Is a family plan that cuts the sticker price of a "pricy" plan better or worse than a lower-cost plan, after factoring in perks and benefits (Hotspot capability, international calls, free Disney+, etc.)
"UNLIMITED": Real vs so-called unlimited.

As a fellow Phillip and Texan, I must clarify that it's pronounced data, not data.
You should make a video on how parents can set their kids up for financial success.

Yeah true to an extent, but it is a necessity to connect to the globe, just like I do with RUclips audience ✅✅

I just manage data as managing finance as well and build discipline on both ends.
Is “Tapir Talk” a real thing?! If so, count me in!!!
I use Mint Mobile's 8gb a month plan. It cost me around $300 a year. I think I have had to add extra data once....
...and I work in web development.
ESL speaker here and still deciding if I should pronounce data as "dah-ta" or "day-ta" and this video is not helping LOL
It’s one of those words that don’t matter 😆
Day ta
In American English, either is acceptable. ""day-tuh" is more common than "Dah-tuh" in my personal experience
