    Sir , how does oxygen fulfill it's octet ; oxygen's outer most electronic configuration is 2S² 2P⁴ , that means the 2S and the 2Px has 2 electrons , so both 2Py and 2Pz has 1 unpaired electron , it doesn't have any vacant orbital , so how it accepts the co-ordinate bond , where the two electrons fits ?

    Sir what happens in case of HCN? Covalency is satisfied yet it shows coordinate bond. Plz reply sir

      2 years but no reply?

    • @Imranshah-ls5ql
      @Imranshah-ls5ql 3 года назад +19

      Sir I think HCN do not form dative bond

    • @phantom8674
      @phantom8674 3 года назад +9

      No, there is no dative bond. Actually the neutral species is HCN. In this, Carbon and nitrogen each contributes 3-3 electrons to a triple covalent bond. ... Carbon also forms a single covalent bond with hydrogen, thus completing its octet and hydrogen duplet.

    • @rachitsingh914
      @rachitsingh914 3 года назад +3

      In HCN , carbon complete it tetravalency ,h complete duplete, and N show it trivalency. Hence,no dative or coordinate bond present in the HCN

    • @parveenbanu4638
      @parveenbanu4638 3 года назад +15

      @Master Ratan no ,it is not an exception ,in HCN there is no dative bond but in HNC we have a dative bond.I Hope you understood ✌️

      Dear covalancy normally can be checked by position of element in priodic table ,

      C is 4th group element so it's show 4 covalancy , p show 5 etc
