I heard another version of the same story somewhere else - a nearby pedestrian's point of view. He had attended the school a few years prior, and his parents still lived within a block of the school. He had come to visit and was staying at Jo's parents, when he heard about it on the news. He walked down to the church, provided kids with snacks, drinks, blankets, etc until their parents arrived. This man is a real hero, even in the face of such a tragedy. School shootings are certainly one of the USA's largest struggles, and we need to put a stop to it.
