    Took me ten seconds: x = 7. ((x+1)!)/((x-1)!) = x(x+1) (cancelling the whole term by (x-1)!) 56 is the produkt of 2^3*7.The only way to form a product of two successive numbers from these factors ist 7*8. So 7 = x, 8 = x + 1 => x(x+1) = 56. Solved.

    Got the answer up until the 2 x values but didn't consider it had to be positive

    X cannot be negative. The original problem then would show negative factorial numbers which are not defined.
