    Neat Star Wars commercial 9:52 - I grew up in the bay area being a child of the 70's . Us kids never missed the three stooges, the little rascals, Tom and Jerry, Charlie and Humphrey, (some on channel 2) which also featured "Creature Features" a staple! Thanks for the video, channel 44 was a gem.

    Not only was I a kid on the 70s, but this was one of the mainstays of our cartoon diet, along with the afterschool programming on KTVU channel 2. Of course it was all just keeping us occupied for 1970s Saturday Morning mayhem on the affiliates.
    RIP "Dr" Don. Mornings on KFRC got us ready for school.

    Thanks for posting some childhood memories. I grew up during that time watching Channel 44 after school and listening to the great Dr. Don Rose and all of his funny sound effects.

    This was one of my cartoon stations growing up in Oakland, but the adults in the house usually had the TV tuned to the Mike Douglas Show on CBS affiliate KPIX at this time of the day.

    I must have died and gone to Heaven. For those of us who grew up on KBHK in the late 70's, this is PRICELESS! I didn't think I'd ever see a clip like this again. So many memories....

    I watched every afternoon after school and looked forward to cartoon time and the friendly, funny voice of dr. Don Rose. Channel 44 reminds me of him. Hoping more tv cuts are shown. He was part of my childhood then

      The last time I remember watching the Banana Splits was back in 1982 on Ch. 32 FOX/WFLD. To my knowledge, I don't know how it could still have been in syndication during the 1980's, which is downright bizarre. But it wasn't until 1994 when I went to my local college campus during spring break, checked out the TV at the student union, which had no students (like I said, this was during spring break) and there it was, the Banana Splits playing on USA Network Cartoon Express. My family, that is, my parents, sister, and I, didn't have cable at the time, so this was the only way I could check it out. And what a fun nostalgic trip it was 😊😊😊😊❤👌☮👍👍👍👍

    I used to watch KBHK TV 44 in the early 90's.
    Think it became UPN in 1995.

    • @presidentevil9951
      @presidentevil9951 3 года назад +1

      it didn't BECOME UPN.
      it was an independant channel and that became UPN affiliate in 1995, at least until UPN went OOB. it is now a KBCW and it is affiliated with CW (even though it is OWNED by CBS???) WTF?

    I should also note that KBSC 52 (now KVEA Telemundo 52) was a Field Communications station for the Los Angeles SoCal region based out of Glendale/La Crescenta-Montrose on Grand Central Dr. just west of San Fernando Road.

    • @disneyfan8178
      @disneyfan8178 Год назад +2

      Actually, Field Communications never owned Channel 52. What the two stations had in common, was until the mid '70's both 52 and 44 were owned by Kaiser Broadcasting. When Kaiser sold both stations, 44 was sold to Field Communications, while 52 was sold to Oak Broadcasting.

      @@disneyfan8178 both stations had the same fonts that the Field Communication stations used for their station IDs and etc.

    They totally botched the ending of that Popeye cartoon by ending too soon before the reveal. They also couldn't manage to start the Banana Splits without cutting off the beginning. Having said all of that, I really miss KBHK TV 44, and Dr. Donald D,. Rose.

  • @moxie96

    The only Popeye cartoons worth showing anyone is the first maybe 20 ones done in the early 30s. Those are the ones to watch. The later ones are weak.

    • @OofusTwillip

      If a Popeye cartoon doesn't have the "sliding doors" opening titles, it's not worth watching.
