    This helped immensly Thomas, before these few tweaks, the images were appearing very soft.

    One additional thing I always do for Fuji X-Trans files is move the Colour Noise Reduction down really low - even up to about 3200 ISO you barely need more than 10 on that slider. Having it on 50 can really smush fine colour detail, such as autumn foliage with its mix of oranges and greens,

    Nice video Thomas. Just got my hands on Xh1 as I got it new for a good price. This video has been of great help getting started with Capture One express.

    Looking forward to the follow-up video where you could perhaps go into more detail on the "amount" and "radius" sliders for sharpening in C1.

    Great video, thanks. Could you please put the link to the fuji sharpening (structure) video you promised for Capture One 20 Pro? Thanks in advance,

    Thanks so much for this. Very helpful. I've really struggled since Apple shit the bed & discontinued Aperture. I bought the standalone Lightroom only to find it horribly slow & bad results with Raf's & then to add insult to injury a few weeks after buying LR they discontinued it. I'm finding I'm getting better results & having more fun with C1.

    Thomas - I have bought your xtransformer guide and have been using it to demosaic my fuji raw files. Do you think that capture one and xtransformer are the same? I’ve also used enhance details in Lightroom for fuji raw. Any thoughts on that process?

    Great video as always. I just ordered an XPro 2, and traded in my XPro 1, mainly influenced by your videos. That image of the Dragon is beautiful, btw. All my best.

    What do you think is the best way to use "Auto adjustment" in C1? 🤔🤨

    Hello Thomas. I was wondering: as we reduce the luminance NR slider to 0, shouldn't we reduce the details NR slider to 0 as well? I understand the details slider is there to compensate for the luminance noise reduction, so that seemed logical...what do you think ? I use C1 20.

      it used to make a difference in over versions, but doesn't seem, to any more - so I don't bother changing it. (I've looked - a lot)

      @@thomasfitzgerald thanks a lot for your reply. I guess the detail slider only has effects to the extent some NR is applied...

    In the pro version, when you save the detail info as a default, is it an ISO specific default like in Lightroom or is it a global default?

    Hi Thomas,
    Thanks for all your video that i watch with great interest( sorry for my bad english!).
    I have a question about C1 express for fuji:
    I have the complete version of C1 (C1 pro) and also the fuji xt3, Is there any interest for me to downloading the fuji Express version?

    • @thomasfitzgerald
      @thomasfitzgerald  6 лет назад

      No. It’s just a cut down version of the full software. It’s actually the same application - it just uses a different license which disables certain features

    So threshold works the opposite to Lightroom. The less amount the less area affected while in Lightroom the higher the value the less area sharpened.

    Is there any chance to process Fuji XT-2 or even XT-3 RAF files on previous versions of Capture One?Like say Capture One 8?

    • @thomasfitzgerald
      @thomasfitzgerald  5 лет назад

      If it’s not natively supported you would need to convert to dng first

      @@thomasfitzgerald Thank You so much for a quick response.Natively I am able to work on my XT1 RAF files not higher :( Are there any disadvantages on converting to dng and proceed from there in CO1 oppose to work in Lighroom with those RAF fies?

    • @thomasfitzgerald
      @thomasfitzgerald  5 лет назад

      I'm not 100% sure - I don't really use DNG files in Capture One. depending on how you convert them, it shouldn't make a huge difference in theory.

    Thanks, Thomas! Would you say, generally, that Capture One handles RAF better than Lightroom CC Classic, in terms of rendering, sharpness and noise? I’m growing so fed up with LR, my RAFs look like sh•te

    • @thomasfitzgerald
      @thomasfitzgerald  6 лет назад +1

      Yes. By a significant margin. However if you use Iridient x-transformer it solves a lot of the issues with Lightroom. I have a video on that if you look back through my channel you should find it

    What do you do when you need to take images beyond C1 Express? Like making an HDR in PS?

    • @thomasfitzgerald
      @thomasfitzgerald  6 лет назад

      I use aurora hdr for hdr. You can just drag images from c1 onto the aurora icon in the dock

    • @mariuscpeter
      @mariuscpeter 6 лет назад

      @@thomasfitzgerald Will the raw files keep the settings made in C1?

    • @thomasfitzgerald
      @thomasfitzgerald  6 лет назад

      No - it sends the raw files. You'd need to export first as a tiff and manually load them to keep baked settings. I'm not sure if you can send directly to Aurora with the "edit with" function - I haven't tried it as I normally use the raw files, but that may work too.

    • @mariuscpeter
      @mariuscpeter 6 лет назад

      recently I've seen how bad Lr/ACR is handling the fuji raw files and I decided to edit them with C1 Express. But right now I have some commercial work to do and I need to blend exposures and I'm looking for the best apps combo. Lr/ACR makes the files look like paintings.

    • @thomasfitzgerald
      @thomasfitzgerald  6 лет назад +1

      Even if you don’t have something like aurora you could still manually merge tiffs exported from capture one into a hdr inside photoshop or even in Lightroom. Just export full res tiffs from c1

    I want to get into processing my own raw files, and watched a few videos on the
    Topic ... but why is it, I love photography, but this bores the living fuck out of me..
    I appreciate what you’re trying to explain to me, but anything this side of photography
    I just can’t absorb. ..? It’s so slow and time consuming (and this is only 1 picture ?) is it that The interest mainly is in computers... and the picture adjusting is a part of that interest ?
    I use Fujifilm equipment an XT2 with Fuji 100-400mm and 16mm and so on.. that I find
    Excellent quality... I don’t know what system you use, but if your results are not sharp enough then maybe a better quality lens is needed, or other camera adjustments required ?
