- Band of the Household Cavalry along with the Band of the Royal Yeomanry and the British Army Band Tidworth taking part in the Cavalry and Yeomanry Regimental Remembrance Sunday in Hyde Park.
The salute was taken by His Royal Highness Prince Edward, The Earl of Wessex, with troops from the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment, The Royal Yeomanry, The Royal Wessex Yeomanry, The Queen's Own Yeomanry and Scottish and North Irish Yeomanry. The massed bands then marched back to barracks stopping at the memorial commemorating the members of the Blues and Royals who lost their lives in the Hyde Park Bombings, for a brief service.
The massed bands then continued on back to the barracks. Развлечения
Well done chaps. Love the marches, it takes me back to the early 60s when i served in the Royal New Zealand Infantry Regiment, both in NZ and also in Malaysia. I'm 82yo now and never forgot where i came from as a young man. We served alongside the 3rd East Anglians, and later with the Kings Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, as well as the Royal Australian Regiment Infantry as the Far East Land Forces Brigade Group. God bless all Commonwealth Soldiers. Robert Wilson. NZ.
Bless you!! We needed our Commonwealth then, we need them now and it's down to the Queen and Prince Philip who perpetuated that link and that connection....My respect always and my Father's!
God bless you 🌺
Perfect weather, perfect parade for the remaining venerable old regiments of Cavalry. The Cavalry Memorial Parade, sometimes affectionately known as the 'March of the Hangovers'. And who could deny them the close bond of friendship and a party atmosphere on the Cavalry's Day. May God preserve them.
I just love "Soldiers of the Queen" always brings a tear.
God bless her Majesty the Queen and the United Kingdom.

I tried to post earlier but I don't think it went through - apologies if you get this twice. I think I can help with some of theses. AT 16:02 Aida, 19:25 Berkeley's Dragoons and Galloping 8th Hussar, at 21:51 The Merry Month of May, at 22:23 Balaklava, at 24:35 Unity. I am stumped on the tune at 23:02 but I will keep thinking about it as that tune will now be in my head for 2 days.
@@DrummieNY Thanks a million! Your help is much appreciated! As for the tune at 23:02 guess that we'll both have it stuck in our heads until we find it! Again thanks!
23:02 To a Farmer boy
Thank you to yourself and A Different Drummer for listing all the tunes, must have taken longer than the video itself, I appreciate it.
@@DrummieNY Thank you.
J'admire !! C'est toujours réglé au millimètre et les tenues sont tout simplement magnifiques 👏👏👏
Love it!
Thank you so much. ❤️💙❤️
The horses get the day off. It would be fun if they could be spectators!
Fantastic video!!!! The massed bands sound excellent!
Thanks for the timely and comprehensive coverage. I've added a link to the Wikipedia article.
I'm now watching your coverage of the marching along the Carriage Drive. Your tracking of the front of the march is technically astounding -- so smooth while managing to avoid the crowds. Well done!
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed.
Excelente vídeo. Muito lindo. 😍💂♂️❤
great video. thank you!
Good old bass playing tanking it out well done 👍
Impressive sound, although I very nearly ended up going head first into it at one point, that would have been difficult to explain.
Fantastic video thanks.
Thank you.
It’s about time the horses get to have a day off too.Nonetheless a brilliant performance.
Lovely video!
sounding great👋👊
Awesome
God love those old sweats

What a totally Delightful Young Man HRH Prince Edward The Earl of Wessex is. The amount of Respect & Humbleness is clearly there to see, towards all the Parade, the Bands & he looked the part, each time the flags went by followed by the Men & Woman, he acknowledged them with a Dip of his head in respect. You can't help but think he's far more deserving of the Honour that his Parents gave him in naming him as the Earl of Wessex on his Wedding day & making a Statement that when the Duke of Edinburgh title was free, Prince Edward would carry it in recognition of the work he has done for The Duke of Edinburgh Award Trust. It seems King Charles lll, isn't prepared to honour his Parents Wishes in that regard & keep the title for his own Branch of the Family. HRH Prince Edward, it seems, is destined to stay 3 Ranks Lower that his Brothers & his two Nephews, as an Earl. He deserves far better treatment than he's received. What can you say about the British Military Bands? nothing more than has always been said. They are the Epitome of what a Marching band should be, they all set the World's Standards For the Military Marching Bands & the Mounted Bands also. No matter which part of the Services they are, Beginners or Experienced, they are untouchable & the throat closes a bit & Tears Well Up & it makes you Proud to be British.
Brilliant as always
Thank you.
Liked the Hat, Khaki, Fur Felt and the Music.
Great to be British
Sorry, I fail to see what so grand about being British seeing these old men parading with an umbrella….
@@oberscl these old men served their country, have a bit of respect, why are you watching then if you have nothing nice to say
Oh, I see, I did not know what these people were doing….I withdraw my remark and apologise.
@@oberscl However, we don't fail to see your Ignorance & Lack of Respect. These "old men parading with an umbrella" do so in Memory of Their Comrades who fell & all the past Men of their Regiments that fell. The fallen are called The Glorious Dead for a reason & they are remembered for their Ultimate Sacrifice by all members of a Regiment, their own families & very grateful Nations of The United Kingdom & Commonwealth. The Grand thing about being British, is that this Traditional Remembrance of Regiments, by the Regiment itself & ex-service Personnel is unique, the closest thing to it is a Remembrance of all fallen Service Personnel on a specific day, such as Veterans Day, Remembrance Day, ANZAC Day (Australia & New Zealand). So it is Great to be British, a Britain that has so many Traditions & in particular Traditions that pertain to the Memory of many Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen & Auxiliary Services that fell in Service to their Country.
Una pena después de tantos años no poder asistir a un desfile inigualable como blos de la Guardia Real músicos
Excellent video, thank you MrBaton74! when the Drum Major(?) called for' all eyes left' around the 8:30 mark, was it for a memorial beyond the trees and tourists where the iron railings are? is it the other end of the memorial to the lives lost in the Hyde Park Bombings?
Hi, yes there is a plaque just off the pathway there which commemorates the Hyde park Bombings. The massed bands stopped there on the way back to the barracks and held a small service.
@@MrBaton74 i was there the day the bombing happened .. i could go into detail .. but i wont .. life guard from 1980 - 1984 in germany and london
@@seangraver5511 My husband was on duty at the Royal Mews that day and due to go out with the carriages to pick up an ambassador when they all heard the bomb go off. Carriages and horses had to do a U turn and get back inside the Mews quadrangle. The ambassador went by car that day. A former Blues and Royal came to work later at the Mews, and told us of the loose horses galloping back up to the barracks. Terrible day....😢
❤️❤️❤️❤️
the date is way off i sit here today in may of 22 ??
Are you using a Go-Pro camera, and merely walking alongside them. If so how do you avoid bumping into people.
Who is the person on the horse? What is his uniform? This is the first timeI have watched this parade. I am a kiwi of British extraction.Your Spring green trees give me alonging to be in two places at once...
If you are referring to the riders in their hi-viz yellow, they are the Metropolitan Police Mounted Branch, policing and protection of military parades and events in the UK are the responsibility of the civilian police force.
This is the Calvary and yet everyone is walking (in-step)?
Where are the horses in this parade?
"twas a beautiful day so do all the umbrellas have significance or are they all John Cleese fans ?
Does the band of the Royal Yeomanry no longer wear its blue lancer-style full dress?
The old “Rough Rider” full dress uniforms went several years ago. There is a prospect of it being revived but it would be expensive so may not see light of day.
@@johnsabini2330 That's a shame. I remember seeing it at Lord Mayor's show, D-Day and WW1 commemorations. (With that Bandmaster who was certainly a "fine-figure" of a man!)
@@johnsabini2330 I would have thoughtthe helmets to be the most costly, which surely are still held.

Curious about the gents in suits, are they retired and past members?
Veterans on Parade.
Officers in front wearing bowlers and carrying umbrellas, OR's in the rear.
Mr. Baton,
How could this be Calvary Sunday London 08/05/22 when it is only 07/20/22? Unless you can see into the future!
You need to learn how they set dates in Europe. It is the 8th of May.
Bit of s late response as I've only just seen this. In the UK we put the day first then the month. So Christmas Day to us is 25/12/22
not 12/25/22.
Trombone fella at the start, has eaten all the pies.
I was just thinking that 🤣
@@jasonbromhead5257 Maybe just big-boned ;)
@@laurastuart3814 I agree. To many big bones covered in gravy.😜

Can anyone tell an ignorant foreigner why many of the old boys are carrying umbrellas in that funny way? There is bright sunshine and not a drop of rain to expect.
I've copied this from a post, hopefully it will answer some of your questions. "More than two thousand soldiers paraded past the memorial in traditional “walking out dress” of bowler hats, suits, and regimental ties. Each carried a furled umbrella, which is designed never to be opened, even if it rains, unless it is to offer shelter to another. The bowler hat, synonymous in the 20th century with city gents, was originally designed to be worn by horse riders as a form of protection from low lying branches. It is an apt and practical choice of civilian headgear for the Cavalry, who pride themselves on being equally as at home on ceremonial mounted duties as they are formidable in armoured reconnaissance on the modern battlefield."
@@MrBaton74 What a comprehensive and competent answer. I am very much obliged. It tells me a lot of what tradition means in your country. Even if a foreigner (like me) looks at it with great amazement.
@wagnerfan While MrBaton74 is correct, there is a simpler explanation as to why they are wearing this "uniform". In earlier times, officers of the Brigade of Guards were expected to maintain the high standards of dress even when in civilian dress when out-and-about in London. The dark suit, bowler and brolly was the
prescribed dress order for civilian wear. That standard lasted until well into the 1960s. Now it is the customary fashion for former officers of the Household Division to wear at all remembrance activities. It also is still in use by Guards officers who while off duty are occasionally required to attend to official business.
Cause they're British
@@meadowlands1937 when I wad in The Lifeguards in the 70's we were only allowed out of the barracks in civilian clothes allowed by the Colonel, suit and tie. There was an attempt to update this ruling and soldiers turned put for the Colonel in clothes they would like to wear out but all were rejected.
Why do you always want to show off the band When you should be consent racing on the vets
The vets did not march behind the bands on the way up and back from the bandstand. The marching they did was during the march past in front of Prince Edward, which was in the video.
Household Cavalry bands were always pretty poor in my day, I see nothing much has changed.
