Jimmy is a journeyman. He will never get his jersey retired anywhere. He will go to another team with his bad energy and mess up the chemistry. This was unprofessional on his part and he quit on his team.
Why would he go to another team "with his bad energy and mess up the chemistry"? Did you forget the significant Heat playoff runs that he was a key part of?
Jimmy Butler is one of the prime examples of why the soft cap is killing the NBA. The Heat knew it was bad to pay Jimmy Butler as much as they did for his age. Now they can't trade him because nobody else wants to over pay him or doesn't have room with the aprons. The Heat, knowing it was bad, still paid him. Because letting him walk would not have left them cap space to replace him with a free agent. With the aprons in place, acting like the real salary cap, the 165 million soft cap should be abolished. all that it does is force teams who can't afford to let guys walk away for nothing, sign non max contract guys to max contracts. Jamaal Murray wouldn't have gotten his big bag if it wasn't for the soft cap. Brandon Ingram and Johnathan Kuminga are going to force their teams into bad contracts or let them walk for nothing because of the soft cap. If the soft cap was gone, teams could let those guys walk and use their previous contract money to replenish. As long as they are under the apron, it's not an advantage. It doesn't favor large market teams. The soft cap has been bad for the league, and with the apron's it's flat out terrible.
"letting him walk would not have left them cap space to replace him with a free agent." Which is fine if the Heat front office could just agree to save on their tax bill for a bit and develop the young players they currently have, rather than fruitlessly trying to immediately compete for a championship without Butler (as if they were even going to do so *with* age 35+ Butler and the current payroll!). That said, if they could come up with a particular *trade* like the following, they could also create some flexibility: If Miami could trade Butler without taking back salary in return, it would leave the team with a trade exception equal to whatever Butler will be making in the first season of his new contract, along with a non-taxpayer mid-level exception worth $14.1MM and the $5.1MM bi-annual exception.

Wooooww they did Jimmy raw all because the man said he couldn't see himself in Miami they suspended him that look so petty on pat riely part this should speak volumes
Honestly I don't think Jimmy even was being disrespectful. News out even pointed out he and his camp didn't set any exigence as to places to go. Honestly, I think that's just Riley taking advantage of the situation to set an example out of Jimmy. Wouldn't be the first time Riley did that to his guys. Well the facts are the Heat have been to 7 finals appearances. Jimmy has taken them to two. I would suggest that he deserves his extension and he could have sure used some help! Bam is average, Herro is average and Jimmy is 35 so he could use another solid scorer. I will also suggest he will be hard to trade based on his salary, age, and what’s available to get back. He might have to tough it out this season and opt out. Love to see him go to the Nuggets and get a chip, but I like Jr better for many reasons and I wouldn’t let him go if I were the nuggets.
It’s sad when you see players do this. That’s why I’m glad I’m a huge Celtics fan. Danny ainge drafted our two stars and built the team around them. I know other players do it but man it’s getting out of control. The league needs to make some rules about this. Even in baseball dodgers were able to spend more money than God to win a championship
@ honestly I am rambling because I’m still pissed what they did with all that money and how they were even allowed to do it, but it does sort of makes sense with this situation. Players are allowed to do whatever they want and MLB owners can spend more money than God and then be allowed to sign the two best free agents available before anyone else gets a chance at the second best available free agent. Yes it is a different topic so I will give you that. I don’t know why I even talked about it lol

And name teams that would take on his contract, knowing he's going to want another extension soon. He just made his own situation worse with that interview, he's bad chemistry for any team now.
As a Mavs fan, I'd offer Jaden Hardy, maybe Omax if they want him. Maxi Kleber and Dwight Powell for salary purposes. Our 25 first, and *MAYBE* a pick swap down the line, or a couple second rounders instead. If Miami can get a better deal elsewhere, then good on them. Hardy has talent and needs playing time, but he won't get it consistently behind Luka and Kyrie. I'd only be interested in keeping Jimmy for the rest of this season and a playoff run anyways. We are so banged up right now, we need a jump start. I also wouldn't touch any of our core role players (PJ, Gafford, Naji etc)
Being suspended for 7 games for saying you want to be traded is crazy. It's like getting fired when you give your employer your 60-day notice because you accepted a job elsewhere. Like you don't just stop working for your current employer just because you're moving on to a new job in 60 days.
You've got the priorities mixed up here. You don't get to *publicly* say things negative/divisive to the press regarding your employer with no consequences, especially if your employer is already contractually obligated to pay you millions upon millions of dollars to do the job they pay you to do. It's not a worker's right to just say whatever you want to the press about your employer. It's not like getting fired -- he's under a long term, guaranteed contract, and has a player option for next year. Specific to the NBA, they don't want players to publicly request trades when almost all players are under guaranteed contracts. The NBA wants discussions to occur internally, not publicly.
@@mmortal03 No, I 100% agree with you. But Magic wasn't suspended when he asked to be traded from the Lakers, was he? That's what I'm saying. This suspension is just them being mad and vindictive. Come to find out players usually get most of their money back after filing a grievance 😂
Think Butler ends up staying. I can't see a deal that makes sense for Miami, they don't want to take back long term money and due to Butlers salary it is almost impossible for a successful trade to take place without a player on long term big money, especially with the new CBA. Maybe the Rockets with FVVs 40m team option in 2025/26
Say what you want about Jimmy, but lets keep it 100 here. Pat brought in an aging Kyle Lowery and Terry Rozier. Every time a player started to play above their paygrade (Gabe Vincent, Caleb Martin, Derrick Jones Jr., ect.) Pat just let them walk and didn't try to retain them. Jimmy honestly does seem like a Diva right now, but the man deserves to be a little pissed off. I mean what has Pat done to help them win a chip in the last 5 years.
If you don't think Jimmy gets traded, then what happens? I understand he would deny his player option and walk into free agency, but between now and then? He just doesn't come back? He's definitely not playing another game there after this.
As a Heat fan...I'm glad he's leaving....we need another star that can play the entire season not missing 17/20 games!!...we can Do the Warrior or Jazz trade according to the rumors.
It's very possible that he'll opt in to the $50m next year and then be on a vet minimum on a contender like Westbrook from there on. His best days are done and at this point he isn't worth giving up young players or picks. He also has a long list of clubs where he has left on poor terms.
With this move I'm wondering if his behavior will impact his Hall of Fame bid cuz as Bobby pointed out every team Butler spent more than a season with, ended horribly wrong. And it's not like Butler has led the league in anything except maybe steals once. Bringing the Heat to the Finals was spectacular but pissing off Pat Riley is never a good move. Butler might have the Heat, Bulls &Twolves all band together &try to keep him out of the HOF &who knows how he behaves over the next few years. Plus the Bucks are in a win now mode. Jimmy gets an opportunity to prove he deserves an extension. Doc Rivers not really an X’s and O’s Coach but great at managing personalities.
Lastly, Trade Machine likes it. 😬
@ okay i actually love this trade scenario, but i don’t think pat and micky will do it 😭 most times stars are sent to the opposite conference no? im expecting him to go west if he’s moved.
All you frauds and bootlickers talking about Jimmy’s “track record” seem to forget all the Finals he led the team to.
Jimmy is a journeyman. He will never get his jersey retired anywhere. He will go to another team with his bad energy and mess up the chemistry. This was unprofessional on his part and he quit on his team.
Yeah and the crazy thing is........ he was absolutely in line to get his jersey retired in Miami but that's over now
@corpyhogan4433 He should still get retired. He had one of the most amazing runs in Heat history. Everything but a title.
Hardaway got his jersey retired jimmy absolutely should get his jersey retired by the heat
@@Zirc0 Hardaway didn’t have a foul exit with the Heat
Why would he go to another team "with his bad energy and mess up the chemistry"? Did you forget the significant Heat playoff runs that he was a key part of?
Yall should post these with pop up captions when discussing important terminology and contractual terms
The soft cap has been bad for the league, and with the apron's it's flat out terrible.
half these bums are overpaid
@@Breavisread the paragraph again
Who could have thought overpaying these bums were a good idea.
Letting players walk for nothing will be common occurrence from now on. Teams would rather save money than overpaying an underwhelming player.
"letting him walk would not have left them cap space to replace him with a free agent."
Which is fine if the Heat front office could just agree to save on their tax bill for a bit and develop the young players they currently have, rather than fruitlessly trying to immediately compete for a championship without Butler (as if they were even going to do so *with* age 35+ Butler and the current payroll!).
That said, if they could come up with a particular *trade* like the following, they could also create some flexibility:
If Miami could trade Butler without taking back salary in return, it would leave the team with a trade exception equal to whatever Butler will be making in the first season of his new contract, along with a non-taxpayer mid-level exception worth $14.1MM and the $5.1MM bi-annual exception.

@@justGSquared "jimmy is about to find that out" one can infer by that statement you're saying its bad for jimmy. Wooooww they did Jimmy raw all because the man said he couldn't see himself in Miami they suspended him that look so petty on pat riely part this should speak volumes
Great video, love Bobby’s take
Honestly I don't think Jimmy even was being disrespectful. News out even pointed out he and his camp didn't set any exigence as to places to go. Felt like just a guy voicing his personal issues, not necessarily putting it on the Heat organization.
Honestly, I think that's just Riley taking advantage of the situation to set an example out of Jimmy. Wouldn't be the first time Riley did that to his guys. It's all about being professional as much as it is about not showing any perceived weakness.
You never keep a disgruntled employee!! He doesn’t want to be in Miami!
@ Now he doesn’t, can’t blame him, he carried that team with little help.

You act like Jalen Brown wasnt in the verge to ask out at some point. Yall won champ. That fixes all
What exactly are you advocating for? Rules about players demanding trades?
You're rambling and interjecting points about the Dodgers that make no sense.

Jimmy Butler is incredibly selfish for acting like this. Bro you are getting over 40+ MILLION DOLLARS TO PLAY BASKETBALL.

Pretty sure Jimmy suspended them first.
