Syncing Music with Ableton Live
HTML-код

- In this tutorial we explore how to import music or tracks and sync them with Ableton's clock. This allows for warping those tracks for the creation of mashups or perhaps DJ sets and live performance. Utilizing the tap tempo feature you can easily figure out the BPM of music you'd like to use. Syncing music with Ableton Live is very easy once you understand the basic method.

Dude. Your tutorials are so engaging. I get so distracted and scrub through vids a bunch, but I watched yours the whole way through.
Great tutorial! Last sample is in Ebm I guess
That “preserve” function seems potentially very useful. Thanks!
This was such a big help! Thank you sharing
Brand new to Abelton. I have a bunch of practice multitracks, and was wondering how to sync the wav files to the DAW. Thank you soooo much! That should help with adding MIDI and stuff.
what if no matter what you do the clock ends up coming out of sync? please help
This whole time, I had to be in session view.
Super helpful, thank you !
thats a lot of work. not for live performance
The problem I'm having is with different time signatures- trying to blend 2 sets of stems, one lot in 4/4 and the other in 6/8 (both sets could be either btw) so I can sync tempo but then one or other set of stems don't fit in any grid??
How to put my music tracks on a cd from ableton live 11 oh can make a video about this thank you
When I click tap repeatedly it just messes up the track's tempo and I can't listen to the bpm anymore. What should I do?
Rather than synchronize transient peaks in the waveform of a music track to a grid, I have need to sync one track to another. For instance, in a live recording of a guitar duet, the timing of guitar 1 is better than the timing of guitar 2.
I would like to have the two tracks displayed one above the other in the Sample Editor ("Clip Display") section, so I can add warp marker to the peaks in guitar 2 and align them with those in guitar 1, which is used as for reference. Is there a way to do this in Ableton?
8:21 - I followed your directions EXACTLY, and NO. Everything is NOT frickin' perfect. Everything is EFFED UP!
Oh no
great video man, thank you! loved the way you explained things, nicely done!
literally did not hear that error, or the difference between beats/complex etc. I guess that's where experience comes in 😂
Can you do this with MIDI?
Everytime I try to do the tap tempo method it keeps on slowing down / speeding up the sample. How do I fix this??
Great tutorial, thanks so much! Especially the part about an instrument recorded with no clear tempo - so useful!
How can I have Ableton , make a click track to my music ? I need it to auto detect the BPM and create a click to it .
Hey mate I really hope this gets to you.
Do they same steps apply to accapellas? I cannot for the life of me warp accapellas I always have the hardest time and would really love some tips man. I feel like this is amazing for songs with drums and a downbeat but with accapellas I don’t know what to work off.
Some help would honestly be amazing man have a good day and thank you for your awesome tutorials
Yeah, it's tuff!
you could import the original song from the a cappella just for reference and use that bpm for your a cappella
Good tutorial 👍 but can u explain your personal process to identity the key of the sample ? I have a general idea but it would have taken me longer to come up with it cus I don’t know what to go by
Well for me it came with ear training. I simply listen to the notes that work and the notes that don't and derive the key from that. That is a completely different lesson / series in and of itself. All that really matters at the end of the day is the notes that are occurring in the part of the music you're using. Sometimes experiments can yield really fun musical results. I would encourage both ear training and experimentation.
@@SeedtoStage thanks for replying, I'll work on it
good tips, thanks for posting...sounding awesome to btw ;]
Best incline ableton teacher ever!!!
This tutorial is exactly what I was looking for thank you!
So to synchronize my track with another one i have to warp it set it to were i want it to start(1.1.1) and then put it in the same bpm with the other track??
he is confusing doing a lesson for beginners and both something advanced with wrong method.
Hey man, thanks for the video! The only issue Im having is that tapping "tap" in tempo for me actually pauses and plays the track. Any ideas why or how to fix that?
Yo you should mute the track and listen to the actual track on youtube or whatever else and then tap to that. How I do it.
Tapping didn’t work out for me. It messed with the time signature on the audio itself and made it sound choppy. Help!
turn of warp
Great video (and I view a lot of videos). One question about double tapping in the beat - tap templo - double time. I am not sure what you are doing there. So let's say I originally tapped 4 times spaced x seconds apart. Are you saying I should try tapping 8 times in the same stretch of time? Also I saw this video - ruclips.net/video/v8enhUyBp_E/видео.html. Is there a reason/circumstance where the method in the video won't work or won't work as well.
Thanks in advance for any feedback.
How about older songs that were not computer made, were the tempo slightly fluctuates over the song?
You will have to chop up the sample and edit the tempo for each section.
Any ways you can show this with a sample that has no drum beat in it. I’m struggling to sample and get an instrumental that has no drums in it to fit with my chosen more upbeat Tempo .
Good luck doing this with a song that has a lot going on. Ableton can't handle it. It's easy with a few synths and a really loud kick and snare, but if you do it with like a rock song or something, you'll struggle to get it working.
Brother your videos are awesome. I'm currently deciding which of your courses I'm going to purchase. Leaning towards mixing and mastering.
I just wanted to throw out there that I'm using Live 11 and for whatever reason, when I go to reward the sample in session view, AFTER the tap tempo process, for whatever reason, Ableton is not auto correcting the tempo at the new speed. I have to drag the sample into arrangement view and THEN warp it there. Any idea why it's not auto correcting the sample at the new tempo for me? It's not a big deal, I'm just wondering, and wanted to write this out in case anyone else is watching this using Live 11
Does anyone have any idea why it's necessary to do this in session view only? (im pretty new to abelton) : ) Thanks... Great vid by the way!
Hello Brother. I bought Novation Lauchkey 61 and installed Ableton Live 10 yesterday but my keyboard is not working.I watched your old video created years ago to learn setting up for audio but is is not working to. I don't know what to do. Can you help me by another video please.

wow importing that track is a crime against loudness!!!
Had the same thought way to hard limiting
session view is a good idea, i had a ton of tracks in arrangement and it was getting really annoying moving them around constantly
Sick beat dude

Okay okay okay
Thank you. Perfect tutorial for the rookies like me
Brilliant video thank you so much
👍
Thank you for the great tutorial 😀
Very impressed with the tutorial! 10/10
Really helpful video thank you
Nice and easy explanation. Thank you
Cool. Learned lots. Thanks for putting this together.
Thanks bro!! How can we transpose audio clips say in Cmaj to Cmin?
You can't transpose the audio to change the key from maj to min or vise versa. If you have one song in some maj key and another song in min, you can, however, transpose them so the keys are relative to each other.
For example, if you have a track in C Maj and a track in B min, you could transpose the second one to A min (the relative minor of C Maj)
Hello ! Is there a way to play a piano plugin (for example) in Live, and to be able to sync it ? I mean...Syncing live your playing, not like the record syncing option, but something for live playing. (Of course for the notes that are played too early, those too late couldn't be played before !!).
Thank you for your video !!
There is a live quantization setting you can get to under edit -> record quantization. makes it so when youre doing inputs on midi they auto quantize.
wow i learned so much!!
very nice tut !
This is gold
Bless you :)
Niceee
Yes, very helpful!
Thank you. When is your course coming out?
2 are available right now, one is on songwriting and compositions and the other is on mixing and mastering. They are both available here: courses.seedtostage.com
