genuinely my favourite of all the tier lists they've ever done just because of waynes sheer enthusiasm and awe at hollys love and knowledge of bionicles. i wish every autistic person doing an infodump on their special interest a wayne in their life.
Galok-Kal's tool is a magnetic shield. This COLLECTS, controls, and directs the power of magnetism from the earth, which can be employed as a defensive force field against attack or be used as a formidable offensive tool.
I'm only 4 minutes in and geniunely, Wayne telling Holly she was so cool for her Bionicle knowledge was so sweet and wholesome! Honestly, one of the best things about having friends is just letting them go off on their infodumps while you sit and listen to them. The passion in their voices each time just brings me a huge smile and this video is no exception.
Honestly there is something so beloved about bionicle, its entire idea is amazing but also just super inspiring by having children see these mechanical beings as heroes to nature I always gravitated towards them because how strange they were but also how, me they felt.
There is something here that Hero Factory and G2 Bionicle wasn’t able to capture. Yes, Bionicle lived like several times the expected LEGO theme lifespans, but time was just a factor. We did not begin with beings we were spoonfed told that these were made to be heroes. The tone was generally edgier, but that came after the story grew up from the wonder. Wonder…_that_ was it. They didn’t have serials yet. They had a flash game, where you firsthand explored the world crafted with its inhabitants in mind. You find out yourself what is happening on the island, _you_ learned of the elementals yourself, through word of elders, or happenstance adventure. Either way, you weren’t only told what they were - you *_witness_* heroes in action. As it was updated over time, before it was made obsolete, only then was space made for another generation of heroes to reveal themselves. And then another to take their mantle. And rogues, and help, and creatures or warlords. Bionicle, as it stood, was a unique take on Action Figures as constructible toysets; “Constraction Figures.” It was even responsible for keeping LEGO from bankruptcy to make up for the licensing payments to LucasArts for you-know-what. To those who paid dear attention, Bionicle was a toyline that played the setting for an adventure, a giant story, a pantheon, and a mythology. The BioSector wiki holds pages and pages of these tales and documents, many of which diverge from the protagonists themselves to flesh out the circumstances that create the story, and world within. They were all part of the Biological Chronicle. It was great. And it was _great._
genuinely i think that the reboot sets were amazing, and i wish the media and story accompanying them was literally worth anything. They really dropped the ball with that
I’m extremely sad that I’ve only got dudes and pieces, _many, many pieces,_ that were almost entirely made post 2008. I have 2 major options: 1. The sockets of these limbs, especially if they were colored _like the dastardly lime,_ were much cheaper than their predecessors, and were infamous for being brittle. 2. CCBS, which is made to last much longer, but certain pieces have begun to falter too, _namely the small extenders._ They were also more reliant on its own system’s pieces instead of the former Technic system most sets are known for, so they’re more limiting that way. Further unfortunately, I have only Tahu variants that have survived whole. On the bright side, the MOCs I’ve made out of every other set has more or less retained their shape, and I remember their characters.
When I saw this in the recommendation I thought Holly did the Bionicle stream, and was so excited I went to her channel immediately. I can't say I'm too disappointed, this is my favorite list of the tier time stream. So it's a free opportunity to rewatch it!
4:35 LMAOOOO HELL YEAH velvetopia checking in!!! I must admit I was about as zooted as wayne was at this point in the stream and was typing this comparison through tears with the grinch video looping in another tab
My cousin LOOVED bionicles so by default my grandma ended up getting me and my siblings sets as well and we would take them apart and make scary abominations with them. All this to say that's the only point of reference for them and this is a fascinating video
finally streamers who understand what i truly care about: the legend of mata nui edit: fools choices the mahri and phantoka are dope ignition trilogy for life rest in peace matoro (this is a sarcasm i have no strong feelings about tier list placements)
@@quantumblauthor7300 i mean those are my actual opinions the sarcastic part was the "anger" since i don't want people to think im genuinely angry at someone over a decades old story i do think ignition was the peak of the series though
I am happy to say that this is one of two I suggested for this stream that got selected (the other one was the Well Known Pigs one that has the cow from Barnyard instead of the PIG from barnyard)
Mata Nui, the name of Bionicle rises again?! Heck yeah. Fun fact about the Barraki: Supposedly the Squid Launchers, the gimmick that didn’t work, was actually _nerfed_ because they were TOO STRONG. Imagine the cannons (Midak Skyblasters) that the Toa Phantoka came with later, but it was thrice as strong.
I can see what Holly means, but dangit was I a sucker for their aesthetic! It was also the second wave that they began to majorly diversify their silhouettes, compared to most previous waves generally being clones.
If you look them up on the BioSector page, a good chunk of them (mostly fauna that aren’t significant to any stories) are actually accepted fan submissions, the whole collective making up respective compendiums depending on, I think, what contests what years they were in. Semirelated, not a submission: is also worth noting that the island that houses the secret Order of Mata Nui has actual cats, which are like smaller versions of the jaguar-like Rahi from way back in 2001.
Also technic stuff is still super used but Lego is afraid of embracing weird robots. One wish would be they revisited old sets and reimagined them to better quality. Like each wave/gen was represented by one toa or makuta
I mean, 2007 was when the limegreen pieces got super fragile. Thats gonna knock off a few points. Ehlek broke when i built him back in 2007. Only is on my shelf intact because i bought older versions of the pieces years later.

Holly has the deep lore. Shes like the head scholar of a fallen civilization
She's the chronicler. You didn't think those golden locks were real hair? That's the Avohkii's signature spikes, fool!
Once you get drawn in, you never go back.
Does Holly have Bionicle lore videos?
@@horaciogonzalez4284 soontm

holly is like the pope of bionicle lore
no fucking way… he’s actualy awesome…..noo dude!! nooo! he’s so cool!! and he’s like a chara - he’s a character that he can………
thia edit is, honestly, kind of badass...
Holly, bionicle anthropologist
A Biochronicler, if you will.
_(Despite the vast lore that is NOT a real word, I made that up)_
I think Wayne said badass at least once a minute
Ass-baddening factory

I want to hear holly explain all the bionicle lore so so bad
We’re all so hungry for it
I patiently await the day of bionicle stream
Cannot come soon enough.
👀
now that she's done all of the video games, i hope she does the Bionicle next
Just a few days away now!
Edit: My bad, I misread the comment.

While welldesigned i felt ccbs lacked some of the charm of the more dtailed and connectable pieces of the og lineup
this video made me desperately wanna go find my old bionicles. i loved those ones that curl into a ball so much

The first two minutes of this video where the background music is like ominous circuit bent acid house has an indescribable energy
more like B is for Badass..
