Thank you so much for doing this - I've been desperate to change the awful fan on my machine, but without a proper guide I've been wary of doing so. As soon as the second part goes up I'll buy the parts and get started.
Hi again Steve. I decided to pick up the components the other day and give this a try, and everything seems to be going swimmingly so far. It was surprisingly easy to attach the fan to the heat sink - I cut a pair of zip ties down to around 3-4cm in length, pushed them through the small slots on opposing corners of the fan and down into the slots of the heat sink. It feels very sturdy. The real test will be over the coming days, but I'm happy so far. I look forward to seeing how you got along with it.
Cool! Let me know if the fans runs faster as it gets hotter. I'll be testing this more in the next few days, but I've been busy with repairs so haven't done much with it for a few days. Let me know how it goes!
Take a look at Noctua fans, plus you should consider fans that can take a most amount of air. That could be a huge bonus, to have a fan that can take more air out.
Great video. I got my Xbox one s a month ago and the fan seems very quiet still and its very cool to the touch even after 4 hours of game play. on the other hand my PS 4 sounds like a jet engine is quite warm after a few hours, but both seem to be working fine.
My 1tb x box one s gets pretty warm n blows out hot air my 500 gb x box never gets warm. I sent it back for warranty repair and they didn't do anything to it besides erase the memory
If only Ps4 slim had a cooler like that. The cooler on the playstation slim is like the one you find on laptops. Damn thing gets really hot. on my xbox one S, it runs cool all the time. Then again, look at the beast cooler it comes with.
This video is just for those who complain about the littlest things the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One was designed well and runs efficiently my Xbox one I purchased 2 years ago runs well no issues my PlayStation 4 I purchased about a year ago runs well no issues it just gives those certain people a reason to crack open their system to see what make it work and to modify thats it so many people having problems with their fans in the consoles I doubt that it just gives them a reason to modify their system
Gregory Lanphear There a huge amp not of Xbox one s that have clicking fans. If you had one you'd know it's not a little thing. It would be fun if it was just normal fan noise but this clicking that is audible from across the room not tolerable or normal.
Mine makes the same noise as when I got it, but once games are running it can't be heard over them. Only issue I've had with the xone s is the stand making the machine run hot, so I ditched that. It's a really nice console, hopefully the Scorpio takes after it.
Hey, I have an idea for you guys, could you guys put the internals of the Xbox onto a PC case. Do some mods if necessary to make parts fit. It will be a cool project.
I believe the more blades on a fan the better cooling so if a 6 inch fan had 12 thinner blades 15 mm apart, not only would it be quieter it would suck of the heat from heatsink faster
Jaydee Harris Yes, a loud ticking like something striking the fan. Many mentions on forums and youtube. People reporting they get a quiet one after 2 or 3 replacements.
Yes. i had one with noise very noticeable. I sent it back to microsoft device repair and they just sent me a new one in brown box. the new one is whisper quiet.
I replaced mine with a Cooler Master JetFlow 120. its tick free and has the added bonus of white LEDs. I cut and soldered the port rather than get an adapter. I can confirm it speeds up when it gets hot too.
TronicsFix also worth noting that you need to gently tap out the centre of the metal fan grill mesh to stop it pressing the fan into the heatsink and the blades clipping it. Also i removed 2 of the rubber bump stops nearest the front of the console and the rear two hold the fan in place via friction fit.
Hey um so I logged into my friends account to use game share and I clicked make this my home Xbox but when I go to my games and apps it doesent show that any games are installed and I have gold live and he bought the games online store, so you know what the problem might be ?
Just install a brand new exact OEM replacement fan from Ebay for about $10. That fixed loud fan problem for me instantly. I've had THREE Xbox One S consoles all produced in 2016, all had loud fans. Try to avoid buying early Xbox One S consoles produced in SUMMER 2016 because those have the loud fans. I'm assuming fresh Xbox One S consoles from 2017 and 2018 are all good and quiet.
Thank you so much. Mine ticks like a bomb. Would much prefer to mod than the hassle of a return/replacement lottery. Looking forward to Part 2. Will you address the sideways air ducting of the original - unnecessary, or is the mod fan mod-able?
That will be one of the things I take a look at. at first glance it looks unnecessary because the air can be exhausted out the top but I haven't fully looked into it yet.
I'm gonna get a fan that's intentionally thicker in the hopes that it moves more air and I have ideas for a steam punk design that will cover the fan sticking out with a metal cage like fan cover.
I've been tried all the ways to fix this no result. In the end I've replaced the "2 ball bearing" brand-new . Now 0 noise really good.. very recommended way. Ball bearing size and model ( 692 zz 3x8x3 mm).
One question. Once it's taken apart. Would it be okay to just to just leave it like that without putting back on the casing? Like play the console in its skeleton form.
Hi, Steve. Do you already have more information about the fan? Do you think that could be a solution? I would like to see part 2. My xbox one s makes a terrible noise since i bought it. Do you think that just changing the bearing can improve significantly? Thanks in advance.
I'm still working on part 2. I know it's taking forever but I have to test it really well so I can give a good recommendation. I'm not sure if changing the bearings would fix it...I still have yet to find one with really bad bearing noise. I'm hoping to have part 2 up by the weekend.
Yeah, good morning I have a Xbox one slim and I pushed the power button and the fan wants to start up, but it dies afterwards what can be wrong with my Xbox one? I just had to change the power supply box and I tested out yesterday and the same issue. I pushed the button and it starts like it acts like he wants to start up but it dies afterwards.
+gamer billy It's a pretty widespread problem, probably some batch with noisy fans, i've got one of those unfortunately, FIFA 17 1 TB bundle, and the fan make that noise. Not all units are affected.
you probably play on a very big tv from across the room. i have a 32 inch on my bedroom and i can hear the hissing very clearly while playing because i cant sit too much far away from my relatively small tv
TronicsFix i really hope microsoft addressed it,like a said ive had 2 old xbox ones with faulty disc drive and warranty expired so i had to go all digital for a while
First, thank you. I'm reasonably sure that the issue with my One S fan is bad bearings as it's a clicking/ticking sound that can easily be heard across the room. It's done it since new, but has increased in amount and volume recently so I now feel pressed to fix it. So thank you for the link to to bearing on Amazon since that's the only source of info I've been able to find on the actual bearing specs. My question is: will any 3mm x 8mm x 4mm bearing work? The one linked has $6 shipping. Also, is there only one bearing in the fan, or are there 2?
Got my THIRD XBox One S now, its build by LOT DATE: 1701X, so I guess its week one of year 2017 produced. Now, for the first time I hear the loader fan, everyone speaks of, in terms of louder airflow! Before the THIRD device I got, the ticking noise of the barring was much louder. Now with a PROPER fan, it definitly outputs more airflow, I simply cannot verify the exact amount, but I can definitly feel the more airflow. Now, guys, guess whats happening with all the fan noise ticking fans? You gonna get a much sooner burned out XBox One S.
Okay, so recently I've been messing around with my Xboxs and I've become quite conformable with taking them apart and back together again. It's probably important to note that I have the original Xboxs and not the S or X. Initially I referenced another video of a less credible source in which he linked a cooler master sickleflow 120 led fan and to cut and splice the wires and use the original xbox fan connector, sacrificing the pwm function and forcing the fan to run at maximum output at all times, which didn't seem too terrible of an idea at the time because I figured it keep the cpu cooler. Doing this resulted in fine performance for about 2 weeks and then my Xbox started to overheat and shut itself off. Further research revealed that I needed the fan in this video (cooler master jetflo 120 led, or the silent wings if you don't want led) as it has much higher performance that is comparable to the original pwm Xbox fan. This video also provides an adapter that preserves the pwm function which is a definite plus in my personal opinion due to the noise of the jetflo at max output. However, after about 2 hours of playing Modern Warfare, my Xbox has once again overheated. My last guess is that I should've went ahead and replaced the old thermal paste when I had the heat sink out, which I'll be doing within the next week. **If you end up doing this fan mod, I highly suggest you do your research and replace the thermal paste as well.** TLDR; if you do this, follow this video carefully and you will not be disappointed, and I highly suggest replacing your thermal paste as well. It works for the original Xboxs also. My Xbox still overheats but I suspect it's the thermal paste and if anyone has any suggestions I'd really appreciate it.
Good video but i have a question, i have a bearing noice, do you think it can harm anything? Its not annoying to me as i play with a headset on at all times. if it would break, can i ship it to MS for a fix? I've heard they fix Xboxes that are less then 12 months old.
I don't think so...the point of this video is to show a fairly easy way for someone to swap out their fan with an aftermarket one. If I was building it for myself then maybe.
+TronicsFix so if mine makes a noise but not quite as bad as other people should I get it replaced? Or are people just getting it replaced because it annoys them? Like does that mean it will break or quit working soon?
The sound that bothers me is how loud the disk drive is when playing a 4k Blu ray. it's not as bad with a regular Blu ray but damn I can hear the disk drive over the movie!
i'mi literally looking at doing this now, mines not noisy but i don't think the fan on my one s is ramping up with temps, it will pause and freeze alot unless i have a room cooling fan blowing over it.
It probably won't. I think the fan is in the $30 range but I don't remember. It is linked in the description so you can have a look at the price there.
Got a good deal on the FIFA17 XBox One S 500GB version, first looked on the LOT No./Date. Mine is LOT No./Date: 1636X Now from amazon to many other forums, fan noise shows up with reported numbers: 1640X Some guys that exchanged up to 4 times the XBox One S, they finally got a silent version by this number: 1644X So my conclusion is, that they used bad XBox One S fans up to calendar week 43 (I think that what it stands for, year 2016 and calendar week XX), then they finally switched the fans to a new supplier. Now my 1636X build XBox One S definitly has that fan noise problem, its is kind of clearly a bearing issue, starts right away when the Box starts. Beside that, I do not hear any fan speed variation, maybe its too cold in my environment :) Support hotline's superior is having my call on his desk, awaiting his recall. I am very interested about what he is going to tell me about exchange or other options.
I wonder if you can fits some noctuas. My water cooling build on my pc loves them... wonder if my Console will better cooled cause that things airflow just sucks.
Thank you. I was really wondering what NOT to do with an xbox, you really summed it up. I especially appreciated the willful ignorance you proudly display when choosing random components for your trial and error approach to modifying this piece of equipment. Why make a video at all? We could probably figure it out if we needed to.. huh?? Not once did you reference a service manual for the values of the components you arbitrarily decided were faulty. You dont even use a multimeter to atleast make an attempt to understand how the fan circuit works. Just cut and splice.. Such innovation.. I imagine theres a 10 year old boy somewhere off camera, directing this nonsense. Try this one, its my favorite color. Did it overheat? IDK, touch it. No YOU touch it. its hot? Ok but is it loud? Doesnt work at all? Eh, we could figure it out if we tried, but i got sticky fingers from my peanut butter jelly sandwich and its almost naptime. Can i say my buzz word again? I know this solution is a failure but i went and LINKED IT UP IN THE DESCRIPTION ANYWAYS, just incase you wanna waste your time confirming my failures. "One of the nice things about this fan is when you shut it off its goes off normally, and whe you turn it on it comes on normally".... 70k views... i need a drink.
how long would be xbox one supported? I want buy a xbox one s for christmas and I dont want to wait for scorpio, because and dont have 4K tv and I dont want buy it, my fullHD tv is for me good
I sent it in because the fan clicked constantly, even at idle. It came new, out of the box, and I sent it out the next day for service. The sound isn't crazy loud, but it never stops clicking and ticking, which gets under your skin. It ruins watching movies or TV on it, as it's a major distraction. I'm pissed that they think this is an acceptable product to release and not repair.
If it's still under warranty you can send it to Microsoft or you might try exchanging it from where you bought it. If it's not under warranty and you're in the US you can always send it to me, I can fix it for you.
Bummer...shipping to and from the US is pretty expensive so that's probably not the best option. I don't know of anywhere in Canada that can fix it but there might be somewhere.
I have the Xbox One S 500GB model that came with Minecraft. My fan is ridiculously loud. I try to turn my TV up to drown out the fan noise but it still bothers me. I can't wait to replace it with an Xbox One X; I'm going to throw, actually throw this one into the back of a closet never to be seen or heard again.
TronicsFix it was really loud went and took it back but they did not have another one so just lifted with it and after a couple of weeks just stopped one day and been ok since
the bundled ones are known to have aftermarket parts. I bought one off ebay because of a collection. Two weeks later I decided to mod it. I was gonna change the hard drive, but I saw that the "Hard Drive" inside was an SSD, not any SSD, but an NVMe SSD in an adapter bracket for SATA. Ive been buying bundles ever since.
Mine shut down due to overheat yet it wasn't blocked then when I turned it back on it went full speed for one to two seconds then back down. Something's wrong with the cooling system. I was trying to see if it could control it so I played battlefield with it covered and I never could get the fan to speed up at all. It was getting pretty warm so I didn't push it any further. Definitely some issues.
TronicsFix TronicsFix Do you know of any places who sell the Xbox One S fan/assembly by themselves? I can only find the original Xbox One fans for sale online. I'd like to buy a separate fan assembly and tinker around with it to see if I can quiet it down. Mine isn't horribly loud but it's definitely more audible than my original Xbox One.
Unfortunately I don't know of anywhere that sells them. Your best bet is to keep an eye on Ebay. You may just have to purchase a broken console to steal the fan off of.
TronicsFix Well I can't wait to see what you come up with in part 2. I'm really wanting to mod mine and your tutorial seems the best so far. I'd be tempted to 3D print a bracket that clips onto the fan to hold it down on the heat sink like the factory cooler does. I've seen people do the hot glue method but that seems ghetto.
The price just depends on how quickly you need it fixed. You can see all the prices and turnaround time options here: www.tronicsfix.com/collections/xbox-one/products/xbox-one-hdmi-port-repair
after I got my Xbox One S used it for a little while I had a weird smell coming from it then the Xbox crashed to full reset. the Xbox one else seems to be working ok.
This must be a day one problem mines brand new in 2019 and I had to check it was working my day one ps4 is old now an sounds like it's going to take off
Do you guys believe it would be a good idea to flip the fan (and possibly add an air filter) so that it pulls air in from the top ? Computers do this. The fan is always blowing air into the heatsink instead of pulling it out from? I know obviously this isn't how microsoft designed air flow, but i feel like it would be better this way to pull air in from on spot and blow it out through the sides instead of the other way around.
I wouldn't do it. The airflow is designed to go the other way and I wouldn't mess with it. That's just me though. Let me know how it goes if you try it.
My fan is buzzing like crazy. Really noticable when quiet in my room. No ticking sound just buzzing. Soo annoying. Buying some bearings from a local bearing supplier might upgrade and put in ceramic bearings. Hope replacing will fix the issue for me. Otherwise.. i really dont know what to do. Maybe buy another original fan and hope for the best. Seems that there are no aftermarket fans that are plug n play.
hi i knocked over a whole glass of water and it went everywhere including top of the xbox one s. but now it will not power up and stay on.. you press the power button after i dried it all ect and it makes a ding noise and lights up for a few seconds and instantly shuts off, can anyone tell me what i can do please?
Thank you so much for doing this - I've been desperate to change the awful fan on my machine, but without a proper guide I've been wary of doing so. As soon as the second part goes up I'll buy the parts and get started.
Hi again Steve. I decided to pick up the components the other day and give this a try, and everything seems to be going swimmingly so far. Ha, ha...yes, common differences between PS4 & Xbox!
My 1tb x box one s gets pretty warm n blows out hot air my 500 gb x box never gets warm. I sent it back for warranty repair and they didn't do anything to it besides erase the memory
Need to redu the thermal paste
Mine gears Xbox does it but its not real loud, can only really hear it when its quiet in the room
If only Ps4 slim had a cooler like that. The cooler on the playstation slim is like the one you find on laptops. Damn thing gets really hot. on my xbox one S, it runs cool all the time. Then again, look at the beast cooler it comes with.
+Scoobies 420 DOPENESS Brogy! ! I play battlefield 1 on PC, but am thinking bout getting for PS4.
+Rene Pena Yeah, 16cm XBO fan is cooler badass.
Omega Kid, they did it right man.
yeah, i noticed some small noises/whine when i was standing near my xbox one s after two hours of playing very first time.
Awesome review. I am waiting on the project scopio and hope it doesn't bring along this issue
I still have a vanilla xbox one. I hope I don't get fan noises :3 Great video as always Steve.
Thank you!

Hmmm...that's an interesting idea. That could actually work since it's so modular. I'm going to think about this one.
I believe the more blades on a fan the better cooling so if a 6 inch fan had 12 thinner blades 15 mm apart, not only would it be quieter it would suck of the heat from heatsink faster
Are people really having issues with the xbox one s fan ?? Mine always runs perfectly quiet and stays cool
Jaydee Harris Yes, a loud ticking like something striking the fan. Many mentions on forums and youtube. People reporting they get a quiet one after 2 or 3 replacements.
David Edwards when did you buy your Xbox s?
Elbasheer Aqeilan Two weeks ago.
Yes. i had one with noise very noticeable. I sent it back to microsoft device repair and they just sent me a new one in brown box. the new one is whisper quiet.
I just want a white LED fan in my xb1's only reason im here lol.
I replaced mine with a Cooler Master JetFlow 120. its tick free and has the added bonus of white LEDs. I cut and soldered the port rather than get an adapter. I can confirm it speeds up when it gets hot too.
Good to know. I'll look into that fan.

Also i removed 2 of the rubber bump stops nearest the front of the console and the rear two hold the fan in place via friction fit.
I'll be checking all of that once I decide which fan I'll be installing.
I've had it since launch and I've had no issues whatsoever and I play about 3-4 hrs after work daily.
Hey um so I logged into my friends account to use game share and I clicked make this my home Xbox but when I go to my games and apps it doesent show that any games are installed and I have gold live and he bought the games online store, so you know what the problem might be ?

Nope they are noisy as well, we have a tweetie bird in the case.
Thank you so much. Mine ticks like a bomb. Would much prefer to mod than the hassle of a return/replacement lottery. Looking forward to Part 2. Will you address the sideways air ducting of the original - unnecessary, or is the mod fan mod-able?
That will be one of the things I take a look at. at first glance it looks unnecessary because the air can be exhausted out the top but I haven't fully looked into it yet.
is the pwm plug the same as the original. xbox one? I know there was a issue with that before
It is load but noise from the game obviously mutes some of the sound
My Xbox One S is fine. I have the Gears edition I would love to find a red LED fan for it.
is the stock fan pulling the air in from the back of the console and out at the side? because thats how its going to run with your replacement there.
I'm gonna get a fan that's intentionally thicker in the hopes that it moves more air and I have ideas for a steam punk design that will cover the fan sticking out with a metal cage like fan cover.
cant you just swap the xbox fan plug onto the upgraded fan ?
I've been tried all the ways to fix this no result. In the end I've replaced the "2 ball bearing" brand-new . Now 0 noise really good.. very recommended way. Ball bearing size and model ( 692 zz 3x8x3 mm).
One question. Once it's taken apart. Would it be okay to just to just leave it like that without putting back on the casing? Like play the console in its skeleton form.
You probably could make that work but obviously it wouldn't be the best idea since stuff could fall into it.
good video man
Thanks!
Hi, Steve.
Do you already have more information about the fan?
Do you think that could be a solution?
I would like to see part 2.
My xbox one s makes a terrible noise since i bought it.

I'm still working on part 2. I know it's taking forever but I have to test it really well so I can give a good recommendation. I'm not sure if changing the bearings would fix it...I still have yet to find one with really bad bearing noise. I'm hoping to have part 2 up by the weekend.
i wish you could see mine, but i live in Spain. It's really noisy, very irritating, but thanks! I'll keep waiting...
Bummer...To far away! I'm testing two different aftermarket fans in it right now. I'll get the video up asap.
I'm using the be quiet pure wings 2!
pwm or 3 pin?
for me wont work, it wont turn on
Was the installation difficult and did you use an adapter?
No fan problems on my XBO-S. Completely silent. Wish I could say the same thing about my PS4-Pro hehe...
Max9R I totally agree
Great! Glad your fan is working good. Most of them are but there are some that are really loud. The PS4 PRO runs much hotter.
You get a 12 blade fan running at 1600 rpm you notice less heat and more quiet
I haven't had any fan problems yet and I play for hours and I had it a week after it was released
That's good!
gamer billy me either my ps4 pro is actually louder than my Xbox one S. I dunno about this claim I haven't heard anything about the fan
+gamer billy It's a pretty widespread problem, probably some batch with noisy fans, i've got one of those unfortunately, FIFA 17 1 TB bundle, and the fan make that noise. Not all units are affected.
noise problem ?, not on my Xbox one s, its whisper quiet all the time.
Glad yours is working great.
can you please tell me wich is the date of your xbox one s, i would like to get one soon and i dont want to get one with a noisy fan! thank you
TronicsFix the adapter doesnt work
you probably play on a very big tv from across the room. i have a 32 inch on my bedroom and i can hear the hissing very clearly while playing because i cant sit too much far away from my relatively small tv
mine too
Tell ya what id like to know is , the disc drive on the one S any better than the originals? as i had 2 old xbox ones disc both fail on me
I'm not sure on that yet. the original Xbox One definitely had disc drive problems but this one is not old enough to tell yet.
TronicsFix i really hope microsoft addressed it,like a said ive had 2 old xbox ones with faulty disc drive and warranty expired so i had to go all digital for a while

I don't know if any other bearings will work. Those are the only ones that I've tested. There are two.
TronicsFix LLC ok, thanks again.
can i replace my fan with a AF120 LED fan? does it need a 120mm or 140mm fan? and with the corsair led fan would i need the adapter?
Hi is there any fan with better cooling? I don't care about how loud it gets
Any update to this video? And any plans to make a video on upgrading the fan with a led one? Perhaps something more premium, powerful, etc?
No updates...there aren't many fans that work for the Xbox One S.
damn, oh and I saw the led you put in the second video, did you test that ones cooling?

My Xbox still overheats but I suspect it's the thermal paste and if anyone has any suggestions I'd really appreciate it.
Good video but i have a question, i have a bearing noice, do you think it can harm anything? Its not annoying to me as i play with a headset on at all times. if it would break, can i ship it to MS for a fix? I've heard they fix Xboxes that are less then 12 months old.
No, it won't cause any problems. If yours is under warranty then yes, you'd be able to send it in for repairs.
TronicsFix Okay, Thanks man, Keep the awesome videos coming, we as consumers learn alot from them.
Although mine is working perfectly fine and quiet. Will you be considering a closed circuit water cooling kit as a possibility?
I don't think so...the point of this video is to show a fairly easy way for someone to swap out their fan with an aftermarket one. If I was building it for myself then maybe.
New content to an old video but you never went over why the pwm feature wasn't working properly.... I'm really curious as I want to try this.
i can just about hear myne if i go right up close to it, but apart from that i cant hear it is this normal? or should it be completley silent? Thanks
I don't know if any of them are completely silent. If the noise doesn't bother you then I wouldn't worry about it at all.
TronicsFix ok thanks buddy put my mind at ease lol
+TronicsFix so if mine makes a noise but not quite as bad as other people should I get it replaced? Or are people just getting it replaced because it annoys them? Like does that mean it will break or quit working soon?
The sound that bothers me is how loud the disk drive is when playing a 4k Blu ray. it's not as bad with a regular Blu ray but damn I can hear the disk drive over the movie!
What size are the bearings in the xbox one s fan?
Do a heat sink upgrade with a better fan
i'mi literally looking at doing this now, mines not noisy but i don't think the fan on my one s is ramping up with temps, it will pause and freeze alot unless i have a room cooling fan blowing over it.
would be possible to connect 2 fans with pwm splitter? to put one on cooler and another in empty space (where normally is ROM)
Do you have any update on the PWM function?
Now I'm afraid haha , just bought mine today , hope it won't have problems , also how much does the fan cost ?
It probably won't. I think the fan is in the $30 range but I don't remember. It is linked in the description so you can have a look at the price there.
"We found" odd fellow speaks of himself in the third party.
It not just him he has a whole team
Got a good deal on the FIFA17 XBox One S 500GB version, first looked on the LOT No./Date.
Mine is LOT No./Date: 1636X
Now from amazon to many other forums, fan noise shows up with reported numbers:
1640X
Some guys that exchanged up to 4 times the XBox One S, they finally got a silent version by this number:
1644X
So my conclusion is, that they used bad XBox One S fans up to calendar week 43 (I think that what it stands for, year 2016 and calendar week XX), then they finally switched the fans to a new supplier.
Now my 1636X build XBox One S definitly has that fan noise problem, its is kind of clearly a bearing issue, starts right away when the Box starts. Beside that, I do not hear any fan speed variation, maybe its too cold in my environment :)
Support hotline's superior is having my call on his desk, awaiting his recall. I am very interested about what he is going to tell me about exchange or other options.
Please share your LOT./Date: Number here. So we can more easy can make a point on the support hotline.
Got a Xbox One S 1TB Fifa 17 Bundle and have the same issue. LOT No. 1648X
Now got my NOT No. 1701X, brand new one, more airflow, no ticking sound at all.
lot nr 1803 and got a medium loud noise with a repeating sound
I want buy a xbox one s for christmas and I dont want to wait for scorpio, because and dont have 4K tv and I dont want buy it, my fullHD tv is for me good
It will likely be supported for a very long time.
What's the rpm of the stock fan?
i wanna know that too
very practical vid
Thanks!
i just sent mine back to MS for repair - fingers crossed
simbin I did the same thing. They sent it back, claiming it had no problems.
Let me know what happens.
What did you send it in for?
I sent it in because the fan clicked constantly, even at idle. It came new, out of the box, and I sent it out the next day for service. The sound isn't crazy loud, but it never stops clicking and ticking, which gets under your skin. It ruins watching movies or TV on it, as it's a major distraction. I'm pissed that they think this is an acceptable product to release and not repair.
Sent defect to Texas - replacement coming from another location - fingers crossed
Any 3d printed 120mm fan adapter/fasterner available?
Will a noctua fan work?
is there a place i can go and they will fix the fan?
If it's still under warranty you can send it to Microsoft or you might try exchanging it from where you bought it. If it's not under warranty and you're in the US you can always send it to me, I can fix it for you.
TronicsFix i live in canada and i dont got a reciept or the original box
Bummer...shipping to and from the US is pretty expensive so that's probably not the best option. I don't know of anywhere in Canada that can fix it but there might be somewhere.
TronicsFix I might try to replace the bearings
OK...let me know how it goes
Mine just shows the light when turned on the off with a click in 2-3 seconds. Don't know how to fix it.
This Fan Adapter is very hard to find it in Greece, the other soly=ution is to find a dead graphic card and cut the fan cable with 4pin strange cable
I connected a Be quiet Wings 2 with the adapter but it overheats
I have the Xbox One S 500GB model that came with Minecraft. My fan is ridiculously loud. I try to turn my TV up to drown out the fan noise but it still bothers me. I can't wait to replace it with an Xbox One X; I'm going to throw, actually throw this one into the back of a closet never to be seen or heard again.
Seems like a waste of a console but...
Use warranty dumbass
What wires were what for the splice
My fan on my gears of war Xbox one s was loud as well then one day it just stopped doing it and was quiet after that
Strange
TronicsFix it was really loud went and took it back but they did not have another one so just lifted with it and after a couple of weeks just stopped one day and been ok since
the bundled ones are known to have aftermarket parts. I bought one off ebay because of a collection. Two weeks later I decided to mod it. I was gonna change the hard drive, but I saw that the "Hard Drive" inside was an SSD, not any SSD, but an NVMe SSD in an adapter bracket for SATA. Ive been buying bundles ever since.
Thank you
4:00 how about you show up so we can actually hear the fan
Mine shut down due to overheat yet it wasn't blocked then when I turned it back on it went full speed for one to two seconds then back down. Something's wrong with the cooling system. I was trying to see if it could control it so I played battlefield with it covered and I never could get the fan to speed up at all. It was getting pretty warm so I didn't push it any further. Definitely some issues.
I'm having a problem with my xbox one fan not s but it won't spin
Does the Xbox one and xbox one s use the same fans? Could I just swap the one from my original console over to my s model?
Unfortunately, no.
A bit necro comment but its a spring, one inside fan, check it if u remove it noise is gone, all u need to do is to use diffrent spring
can you make a vid on how to replace bearings?
Already did: ruclips.net/video/F4tLc6h-o2g/видео.html
would I be able to send my xbox one s in for the video i do notice the fan noise it is a bit annoying, and would love for it to be reduced.
I'm looking for one that has a really loud fan. If yours isn't that loud it wouldn't really work for the video.
It is quite loud
Okay thanks man
I just clean mine to fix the noise little air duster and it's good to go
Glad that works for you.
Hello, you can write a fix on the radiator?
What radiator?
TronicsFix Sorry, I'm from Russia, how to fasten the cooler that he held?
OK...gotcha...you mean how to fasten the fan to the heat sink (radiator)? I'm not sure yet...that will be in the next video hopefully.
TronicsFix Attach it is very important! really I am looking forward to the video!
how do I replace the hdmi socket port for the Xbox1s,an how much will it cost
The price just depends on how quickly you need it fixed. You can see all the prices and turnaround time options here: www.tronicsfix.com/collections/xbox-one/products/xbox-one-hdmi-port-repair
How did it break?
Hi, when is pt2 coming?
I'm hoping this weekend.
Fingers crossed the pwm fan works correctly!
after I got my Xbox One S used it for a little while I had a weird smell coming from it then the Xbox crashed to full reset. the Xbox one else seems to be working ok.
Strange.
This must be a day one problem mines brand new in 2019 and I had to check it was working my day one ps4 is old now an sounds like it's going to take off
Does having the noise will affect the Xbox one s in the future? Or what ?
It shouldn't but there's no way to know at this point.
Do somebody knows that can i fit a 120x120x25mm fan in thr xbox one s?
Had mine a year and is on daily and has 0 noise🤔
this video is quite old but the xbox one fan is actually 112mm :)
Who cares if it spins at a constant speed ? As long as it quiet.
my Xbox one s makes no noise what so ever and the fan is working
My fan just idles really loud, it doesn't make any weird noises it just isn't quite.
Sounds pretty normal for these.
Is that work with xbx1
My fan is buzzing like crazy. Really noticable when quiet in my room. No ticking sound just buzzing. Soo annoying. Buying some bearings from a local bearing supplier might upgrade and put in ceramic bearings. Hope replacing will fix the issue for me. Otherwise.. i really dont know what to do. Maybe buy another original fan and hope for the best. Seems that there are no aftermarket fans that are plug n play.
is the fan spinning in standby modus?
The fan turns off when you press the power button to go into standby.
hi i knocked over a whole glass of water and it went everywhere including top of the xbox one s. but now it will not power up and stay on.. you press the power button after i dried it all ect and it makes a ding noise and lights up for a few seconds and instantly shuts off, can anyone tell me what i can do please?
I hate to say it but it's probably toast. You can disassemble the console then clean the motherboard with isopropyl alcohol.
