    That looked really good. I'm not big on KFC but that chicken looked like it was just right. The crunch from the pie was mental. I've never heard anything bad about Jollibee, has to be on my list if I find one

    For Filipinos, that is practically an all-in-one gravy. good for a number of jollibee menu items. The pie is a take on the popular streetfood called Turon. Turon is like a spring roll with the inside made up of sweet plantain banana variety and jackfruit. the outside is coated with caramelized sugar. Langka is pronounced with a short "a" with accent on the last syllable. Lang is pronounced like Lung and Ka like Kah.

  • @lamparattala3143
    @lamparattala3143 2 года назад +5

    It's just now that I knew Jollibee made a pie version of TURON! the banana and langka combo is usually made in the Philippines as turon which is basically sliced banana (+langka) rolled in a thin layer of spring roll wrapper, deep fried w/ sugar (like caramelized thingy). I'm a Filipino but I never tried that BLP yet, idk if it's available here in PH 🥺

    A lot of foreigners enjoy the spicy chickenjoy... Try that one...and what Filipinos usually do is pour the gravy all over our rice... We're HUGE rice eaters so we really enjoy pouring gravy on our rice.. KFC in the Philippines used to have a refillable pitcher of hot gravy coz customers are allowed to get free refills of their gravy... Jollibee also used to give free or extra gravy cups when customers ask... But that was WAAAAAAAAAY BACK... When most customers caught up to the free gravy, Jollibee started to sell the gravy in a little bit bigger cups and no more free gravy... I don't know if it's still the same nowadays in the Philippines though...

      There are several in the Chicago area, mostly on the north side. If you visit the Northwest part of Indiana you can run over to Seafood City, which is a major Filipino supermarket just north of downtown Chicago. They have a large food court with many different Filipino foods, and a jollibee's right next to it.

    I've only tried Jollibee once. Of course I had to try the mains of the fried chicken and the spaghetti. Was pleasantly surprised that the hype for the chicken was deserved. That said I'm not much for sweet sauced spaghetti but I already had an idea of what I was getting into. It wasn't bad - glad I tried but probably won't get it again. I hope to make it up by there again here soon to try more of the menu. - - - - Oh snap I'm pretty sure I just discovered a The Trips dark secret. Eric doesn't actually need to wear glasses. Most Americans hate the Jolly (Filipino) Spaghetti, with its sweet banana ketchup based sauce, because they compare it to Italian Spaghetti that has a more sour tomato based sauce.
    Next time try Jollibee's Pancit Palabok (a Filipino noodle dish with shrimp sauce and topped with several ingredients such as cooked shrimp, boiled pork, crushed chicharon, tinapa (dried fish) flakes, fried tofu, scallions, and fried garlic.) I've seen most Americans who tried it - liked it; maybe you'd like it too.

    OMG, I absolutely love your videos/vlogs! Your content is awesome. I live in the U.S.(where I was born and raised) and am of Filipino descent. I really admire your adventurous palates. My favorite was your review of the Pork Adobo and Sinigang. Those pork ribs floating in the dish looked so unctuous and mouth-watering. The down side of our cuisine is that it must be enjoyed in moderation along with everything else. I was wondering if you've already tried "Diniguan" (Pork blood stew). Children who grew up in the states or Canada in Filipino families are told the dish is called "chocolate meat" but it's made not only with pork meat, but the offal as well. Some people find it a little difficult to eat but it is delicious. You might want to try other things like Bagoong (shrimp paste used as a condiment) or Balut which is a duck egg with a partially developed embryo. It tastes like a cross between the yolk of a hard cooked egg and the white meat of chicken. The smell of Bagoong can be strong, smelly and offensive and it takes a bit of getting used to but it's salty and you can put it on a mango slice. Other dishes you might enjoy are Kare-Kare which is a beef Oxtail stew cooked with peanut sauce and vegetables like eggplant, okra and squash. In any case, please continue with your excellent inspiring reviews.

    I never knew there was Banana Langka Pie existing in Jollibee 😮 cuz we don't have that here in the Philippines! Anyway try some of their burgers like Chicken Sandwich and Aloha Burger, I watched so many reactors and they all love those two burgers.
    Palabok and Burger Steak is also good! And All the Silog meals (served for breakfast only). I hope someday Peach Mango Pie will be available in those stores that u visit 🥰 As usual I love and I'm enjoying watching u guys. Keepsafe always!

    For Jollibee, I'd say these foods are like the better choices if you're like newbies/beginner level to the Fililino palate in terms of Jollibee foods...you can add the Jolly hotdog and DEFINITELY try the Peach Mango pie if you like your dessert sweet... For intermediate, I'd probably recommend the burger steak.. Kinda like a salisbury style steak... And the aloha burger... And some of the other burgers... They can be an acquired taste.. But I found some foreigners taste testing Jollibee for the first time who like the Jollibee burger patty and its mystery sauce.. And the halo-halo too.. Filipinos have loved that cold treat for forever.. It's sometimes perplexing to me why some foreigners find it weird.. The texture maybe? Or maybe it's the sweet beans? That's asian palate for you.. We enjoy our sweet beans.. Japanese also put it into breads or as filling for pastries.. We do that too in the Philippines.. I think also in some other Asian countries... Anyway, For difficult level, try the Palabok... That one is definitely an acquired taste.. I've only seen very few foreigners who like it...

    Kellz slurpin the noodles :) I'm pretty sure they use sugar in the sauce to sweetin it up. Interesting, no Jolly Bees near me though drats! lol

    • @bajarsheryljane9626
      @bajarsheryljane9626 2 года назад

      Actually, it isn't sugar that made the spaghetti sauce sweet. Filipino's style of making spaghetti involves banana ketchup. We mostly prefer that over tomato ketchup, since our country has a blooming plantations of different banana varieties and growing tomatoes are a little bit harder to grow.
