Well.... putting a tactical scope to a LMG is more of an advantage than it seems, if you play for keeps that it. Let say Hard Point or Domination, you can sit and wait on a safe distance while providing covering fire or suppressive fire while teammates go for the objective. I know this because on of my LMG loadouts have 12x scope on it.
