    People forget that as a web developer most of your workload will be building websites. So talk to friends and family, ask who needs a website, build it, deploy it. It’s not rocket science and looks much better on the cv in comparison to boring movie apps or kanban projects.

      lol this couldn't be further from the truth. Half of all Web Devs are hired to un-furl or alter code bases that previous devs made

    Nice advice. It's like you need a chicken to get some eggs but you need an egg for that chicken xD

      You need to give away a free chicken or two, to get the eggs and the paid chickens. :)

    Good morning uncle steff!!!My question is a little bit out of the context of this video. Can you share some of your thoughts on how to become a freelancer especially living in Africa and how to get paid from it. I live in a country called Burundi.

    • @StefanMischook
      @StefanMischook  4 месяца назад +2

      I know Burundi! I used to do business there buying fish from lake tanganyika! Check out my videos on freelancing on YT ... I give the instructions there.

      @@StefanMischook I am glad to hear you know a little bit about Burundi. It's so surprising!!! Have you ever lived here in Burundi before or you were doing business from the States?

    if you build a unique web development project and set it up as SAaS you don't need a job in the first place

    I've been in a WP webdev job for 7 months... I'm now thinking of leaving... unfortunately not learning enough core skills.. php.. OOP ...etc. I'm learning to fix problems.. i love the job.. end of day I dont want to go home instantly at end of work day, which is a good sign.... but I want to be deeper with the code. Think Im going to shoot for software eng role. But I dont doubt WP is good for solo working.

    What u don't understand is how do you take your project to market. What's the process or where do you showcase your project

    How about doing work for people on Upwork to build up your experience to add to your portfolio?

    Hi Stef. What are some good software development/ Cloud IT projects to offer a local church. Their website is ok and probably functional for the purpose, outside of making some minor improvements what are some other possible services. I've thought about some data analytics stuff in python as well. Bear in mind I have other work and would most likely do this for free.

    can you highlight on impact of open source contribution through organisation like gsoc(google summer of code)

    • @StefanMischook
      @StefanMischook  4 месяца назад

      It can help for sure. Better to do freelance jobs for small business though. But open source contribution is good.
