@@BeforeON3 All you have to do is look at what Suisei said about her own recent drama. It wasn't her fans, but there are simply a lot of people outside of the Hololive fandom that would love to ruin people here, ruin Hololive or just enjoy partaking in drama.
Since the Hololive girls are many of the largest streamers in the world they have targets on their backs. They often get targeted by people that hate vtubers, love other agencies or just have some strange axe to grind with the group. It'd be a lot better for the girls if people remembered this.

I understand her 100% here... Take a good long rest Shion. Keep Haachama as an example, in that no matter how long your break is, you will always be welcomed with love and affection when you come back. Mental health is everything when you are a personality on the internet. She might not be my oshi, but I really enjoy her personality and streams, so it would be heartbreaking, if she just cut the line and left. I'll be patiently waiting for her return.
Personally I have faced the exact same situation and have since made a conscious decision to tailor my news feeds and social media stuff to not focus on the negativity of the world and everything in it. Important news are a must, but it is such a relief to not constantly see how despicable people are and how we're on the brink of oblivion at all times. It is in a way a bit backwards, that it actually motivates me more to care about my own impacts on the world with the positive outlook in news, rather than with the intense pressure of how fucked we are if we don't change course. The pressure just paralyzes you in depression and makes it so much harder to do anything towards it and everything feels like a slog.
I didn't expect Shion to be the sanest person and take what we should all take long time ago.... A break from the internet.

I'm sad that she'll be on hiatus, but I think it's a good decision. The internet effects us more than we often realize, as being constantly exposed to negativity can get draining. I'm happy to hear Shion is taking time away to rest from it all, and I hope she is able to enjoy herself during her break.

detoxing from social media and the internet is a very real thing that i think everyone could benefit from at least once or twice. i totally get what she means with seeing so much bad news all the time. i hope she enjoys her break and comes back healthy and strong! i'll wait for her however long it takes

On her hiatus, I really hope Shion recovers her lost sparkle, and remembers what she used to love about streaming and the internet in general. Shion is legit one of my favorite members, and kinda hurts to watch her feeling so blue. We will be waiting for you, mage of violet! Matter of fact, if I learned anything in all these years of being a Shiokko, is that Shion always have some epic comebacks, usually with full new originals or some awesome cover.
I will wait for Shion! she's awesome, and taking time off to recharge her energy, get a fresh look at things and just taking a break from the web is all good, is all for the best

I've got mad respect for Shion. I don't really follow her, but clips RUclips has fed me always showed her as a brutally honest individual.
She first caught my recognition because of some stream around Valentine's Day where a guy mentioned his GF broke up with him shortly before Valentine's Day because she complained about him having too much of Shion's merch. She thought on it a second, paused, then said "I think she was cheating on you" before cracking up at her own statement. But I mean...she was right! Absolutely possible his girlfriend did him dirty and was just looking for "an out" and grasping at whatever excuse she could to make it seem like it was his fault. Still, that's not something just anyone would openly say, let alone something common amongst Japanese culture, where people usually restrain their more controversial statements like that. I have mad respect for brutally honest people, that much more so that Shion's a bit of an anomaly in her own country.
And here again: someone who themself acknowledges they're very young and grew up around a constant bombardment of social media, can acknowledge that, can acknowledge how it can be unhealthy, and let alone still has the strength to tear herself away from it for her own well-being *despite* social media being a "norm" in her life.
Given that...? Look, I'm not a fan of hers that follows her content or anything, but it's hard to feel sad for her. It sounds like an extremely healthy decision on her behalf and once again reinforces my image of her: that this is a person that deserves mad levels of respect. Even if she were to disappear and never return to the internet, it's hard to feel sad for her because it sounds like she just has her shit together and might be better off for it, if she made such a decision.

You can tell by her voice that she's emotional talking about the matter.
Don't forget that she's one of the youngest in Hololive, and as she says herself, she's been in the internet for almost 6 years almost every day. It's normal at her age to want to think about what she wants to do with her life, and even if people will worry, it's perfectly fine to take some time for herself.
Even though that annoucement sounded quite ominous, as a Shiokko I want what's best for her. So I will wait for her, just like I did for the others talents before her.

This right here is why I HATE seeing people retweeting stupid peoples negative views and then starting even more shit by hating on them and making it even bigger, same thing with vtuber news people. they just cause more light to 1 or 2 bad apples and then make it feel like TONS of people are talking crap.
If you see someone talking shit about your oshi DO NOT respond to them, do not retweet it. Block them instead. the less light they get the less likely the talents see it.
there is a difference between a simple criticism and someone being a hater. but when in doubt ignore it, at worst block them.

I honestly don't know how the girls and guys do this job without going crazy. I work a typical blue-collar job and I've had to take several breaks from the Internet in the past. Being online all day, every day seems like a nightmare to me. I hope she's able to enjoy some time away from being online and refresh her batteries
Haven't used Social Media since 2020. Have been a much healthier, saner, and more fulfilled person since then.

I totally understand her, once in a year im going to my parents... to the village. Well i have internet there but mostly i rest by fishing with friend, going in forest, helping with something to parents. And this helps SO MUCH. Just 2-3 weeks a year and you are refreshed.

Really appreciate the translation. I totally understand her reason for taking a break. Amongst all the love and support she and the other girls receive, I know there are also people saying hurtful things or spreading false information, etc. And I’m sure it gets tiresome reading those comments and stuff when you’re doing your best and just want to have fun streaming with your fans. And after doing this for 5+ years, I understand her wanting to take some time to think about what she wants to do in general, be it with hololive or otherwise. Shion is a really sweet and fun girl, and we’ll be here to welcome her back when she returns!

I hope all the talents take more breaks like this, people who just sit on their furniture and laze all day watching streams casually say “it’s literally easy, just stream” those are words of people disconnected from society, are likely jobless and don’t understand how much of a toll these kind of jobs have on people’s mental health. I’d rather they take a break before they actually break because I’ve had favorites in the past who neglected that and ended up literally losing their mind. It is understandable, the few times I open twitter it just gives me headaches, the situation around the world is grim, she is right to take a break. I guess this is why I like to Play Zelda games, specially TOTK and BOTW, its all about nature and quiet and relaxing soundtracks.

I'm glad she addressed and announced her hiatus, it would've prompted people to demand answers instead of just asking the questions of where is she, when is she coming back, how is she, etc. it's simple stuff like this that makes sure that she doesn't return to the world on fire after detox, that would just make that detox pointless because day 1 of coming back, she's heading straight into fire of angry, confused and feeling betrayed kind of environment. She didn't even have to stream the announcement, she could've just posted on twitter about it and pin it on her profile and continue on her own business but she went the extra mile so she is heard and she can get it out of her chest. Simple stuff of notices can make a difference especially when it comes to having a fanbase that's super unpredictable at times and can also help other sane fans so they don't have to look at hateful/toxic comments every time about their oshi because their oshi didn't mention about going on a hiatus or that their oshi doesn't care about them.

I'm really really glad that cover is so supportive of talents taking breaks. The overstimulation that comes from being on the internet at all hours of the day really weighs on a person, and the burnout can be really intense. Even personally I have found that taking even a week's break from everything(like having a camping trip and not looking at a phone or computer), can really have a huge impact.

As fan always say to hololive idol. To always take a break whenever you want. Everyone is different there idols who daily and actively do alot in the internet and same time they like doing it and other tries to manage their time different. Even if every idol like what they do they have real lives too and need to take paus time to time like 50% work 50% rest(this way you can do other things during this time sleep, exercise, go to local events or themepark with families and meet new people outside idol and do what you like on your own "me time" and so no problem). Its good that you can talk with manager about this if not to graduate but taking a long rest for now. Even with long hiatus do something else to make your body more active and healthy because even as young vtuber if sitting hours infront of PC can demish some of active health that is necessary when your young even at 20 or 30years+ keep body and heart healthy and active. If there is anything always talk to doctor during check ups. There is nothing much to explain it good you just letting fans know your taking a paus.
In last sense it understanble that even can predict that world might be in turmoil right now with alot of bad news and even that can take some mental toll even for an idol. And its hard to ignore that in todays world event because it would mean for example as caring idol who care about kindness and good life of others and as vtuber with that kindness is hard to ignore. But trying to ignore bad news or events doesnt mean you dont care about those people or the tragedies in those nation. Its about you taking care if your own mental health 1st. Do something else. And hope for the best that 2024 will bring more stability in the world. Work well, eat well AND REST well. Hope she takes her time to rest.

I would just say try to ignore the "dark side of social media" but i understand that not everyone is capable of doing it. Regardless, even if i don't watch Shion much her zatsudan streams are pretty relaxing, gonna miss those, hope she has a nice break though, being a content creator, let alone streamer and if it's your job can be pretty exhausting.

I hope she gets all the rest she needs. Burnout is a real issue with online talent, and social media can be extra tiresome with its toxicity (Bao the Whale has recently announced that she will never again post on Twitter herself, for example)
So I really hope Shion gets all her energy back, no matter how long she has to take a break for. Hololive just wouldn't be the same without the OG Kusogaki.

People often forget that shion joined as a minor. There is so much life experience that she has missed out on compared to someone like Lui and Marine.
she's just told how much stuff is going on behind the scenes besides just streaming. She works for a company that transitioned from a startup to the top corporate Vtuber company. She has likely more life/work experience than most people her age.

Makes a lot of sense. It can be tiring streaming all this time and yes she may have a lot of people supporting her, which is really nice of course but the weird, dark and toxic people on the internet can really take it to another level and it starts to feel like that is all there is. This only increases the need to get away. So taking a break to try and see the positive again and try to see what it is that she holds most dear about what she does, can only be a good and positive thing no matter what she realises in the end. I hope she find strength and happiness in her rest.
3:20 pretty much why I've never followed news and had very limited social media, based on experience of being on internet since mid-90s if something's worth knowing I'll hear about it eventually, tracking stuff in realtime rarely has any additional value
This is what people felt nowadays when you have access to the Internet and social medias in the palm of you hand all the time. You don't have that normal self time like the old pre Internet days. I felt that refreshed feelings again once I'm stopped using Facebook all the time since my school and uni days.
A digital detox is great for everyone, honestly. Even more so for those who are attached to the internet damn near all the time. Good on her for recognizing she was about to hit that "negativity wall" and talking to her manager about it, as well as other management hashing it out with her. Shion's projects will continue, and so will her college activities. We'll be glad to see her back to streaming when she's ready.

the flood of information (be it useless or indeed informative) truly could be taxing for one's brain.
especially someone like Shion who can't escape the social media due to her work, for the sake to get in touch to her fans/viewers.
and at the same time she gone and check it, the flow of information would follow suit.
and it's truly worse in these time of the years (negative news)
the curiosity might truly be the worse thing to have at that time, coz you'll easily exposed and got damaged in return.
So i fully support Shion's decision to get some rest from internet (especially socmed)
