    <Note: About Japanese accents>
    Japanese and English "Accent" are different.
    English is a stress-accent language that stresses sections of words.
    Japanese is a pitch-accent language that changes pitch sections of words.
    Korone's Japanese has a reverse or extra changes pitch compared to the standard accent.
    However, in Japanese, even if accent is different from the standard,
    it is not a problem because in most cases the meaning can be understood from the context

      For anyone still confused:
      I still can't hear the difference in Japanese but english has atleast one similar case of pitch: present (presentation) and present (gift). After realising this the whole pitch accent concept made more sense to me

      @Amagys Год назад +6

      @@benjiusofficial Coverage and usage aren't the same. While 70% of the words are 平板型 it doesn't mean each spoken word is entirely flat and there are contextual differences that can change pitch and emotional delivery. Plus the words people vary from person to person, sentence to sentence. Honestly it doesn't matter because just listening to anyone talk after you train your ear for pitch accent it's obvious it's a huge part of the language and not flat at all. Comments in the JP clipper channels videos are universally sensitive and aware to the differences.

    As you can see, here "corn-beef" is treated as Japanese katakana. Foreigners often misunderstand and think that Japanese people are trying to speak English. Foreigners sometimes call them "Engrish" and make fun of them. However, these are loan words used in Japanese and are legitimate Japanese words. For example, words of Western origin such as Haagen-Dazs, ice cream, and cooler are used as they are in Japanese katakana. It's like when Westerners say "karate" or "sushi" with a weird accent. Most of the time foreigners laugh at things they consider "Engrish" when Japanese people use Katakana, which is incorrect. Because they are just pronouncing katakana Japanese and are not trying to speak English. It's the same as making fun of Americans when they use the word "sushi" in conversation. Using katakana and trying to speak English are two completely different things. Japanese people recognize that コーンビーフ and corn-beef are pronounced differently.

      Another example, if you ask someone "OK?", you'll feel like the "kay" part is going up kinda to make it sound like a question, while if you say "OK, come on", the "OK" goes down.
      So then with pitches, if you pronounce it as "OK? come on" while meaning it as "OK, come on" (i.e. you're not actually asking a question but you use that same intonation), that's basically what a pitch accent in Japanese does.

    I've always loved Korones costumes. Is she the first one to wear a cake & bamboo around her head?

    I think this might be better explained using the musical notes. (the Do-Re-Mi-Fa-So stuff)
    Take "cornbeef" for example, the proper way would be like So-So-So-Mi-Do, but with Korone's accent it would be like Mi-So-Mi-So-Do.
    Sorry if this made you feel even more confused. xD

      This actually helps, if you have some idea of the notes but don't necessarily hear them intuitively.

    I am a bit glad that America has a certain type of accent that come across in more than the pitch of the words.
    You can make a joke of "Can you pass me some water?" as
    "Ken yew pausss me sum wutter?" and forgo the use of arrows.

      Yeah, people criticize English for being redundant and not having solid rules, but it’s extremely malleable in terms of how much you can change it and the meaning can still be intuited by someone from another culture or dialect. I culd Ltrlly remve a qrtr of da lttrs and u’d stll undrstnd
