Do you have an approximate date as to when that feature he suggested for the locking back-strap, would be fully addressed and completed? I would like to purchase the holster with that particular locking feature for the strap, and I hope that locking feature would be the same for the red dot sight hood.

Is it possible to remove the thumb swipe option from the level 3 holster?
For $35 extra dollars, which places it over the cost of the comparable holster from Safariland.

THAT is a very good point to bring up, that hood not being locked open, wow, that's big, easy to overlook but I think that's huge.
The quick attachment is in the work! Theyre alittle behind right now in production. About a third of production is being used for making mask for local hospitals, and have some new shells being worked on for some of our new favorite toys. Keep checking in every once in a while.
Great review. I too asked Alien Gear about the lack of a locking hood & the inability to run a Kagwerks Slide Stop. For reference the Safariland holster don’t lock forward either (as I’m sure you know), so it’s not a huge deal breaker, but I’d agree it would be a nice feature to have. Think it’s more of an engineering issue as they would need another release mechanism in order to release the hood from the forward position.
Ended up moving away from the Kagwerks slide stop after running into more unintended lock backs like you had with your stock slide stop. Back to stock for now. Guess I’ll take lack of slide lock at empty vs it locking back when it shouldn’t

Thank you Neil for an awesome review of a product I'll probably never own, but that could change. Things are getting crazy here. I went into my local gun shop and the placed was paced with people buying guns and looking for ammo. No social distancing going on there as I stood shoulder to shoulder trying to buy ammo, which basically all the ammo I wanted was gone. Please talk about how much ammo you should have for each of your weapons including long guns if a SHTF scenario unfolds.

My perspective of why a duty g19/g45 holster is a half inch less of material for it to bump against or catch on.
I think this is extremely innovative and kudos to Alien Gear for constantly coming up with new holster designs. I've owned an Alien Gear Holster for something like 5 years now and I love it! I've bought several as gifts for family members, and always recommend them. They are Flawless! Admittedly, I'm a pessimist so my mind thinks like this: If the locking back-strap fails or catches on something preventing if from opening, you lose! Again that's just me.

Rapid force + Safarilands QLS fork paired with the adjustable height belt slide from safariland = PERFECTION. Thank you @aliengearholsters for making the tactical adapter to make this happen.
It also seems that when you draw your pistol you’re already disengaging both locks at the same time. Once you push down button you’ve already again disengaged the secondary locking mechanism therefore making it one step to remove the pistol.

The fact this holster is not light specific is awesome. I've spent to much time finding holsters I like to find out they don't have a model for my pistol light combo.
What you said about the hood locking open made total sense after you explained the scenario. They should definitely change that.

Alien Gear Holsters - when you come up with the solution to this problem myself and guys I work with will jump on it. Also, will you be making this to fit a Glock 34?

Do you have a holster recommendation for OWB, plain clothes, open carry that is lower profile than a “duty” holster, yet has ALS?
How well will this work with an Olight Pl-Pro Valkyrie as compared to the Streamlight TLR-1? Is the retention the same, or is there some rattle?
would you be able to stick a QLS fork on it? The screw pattern looks really similar, it would open new possibilities for the system.
Backstrap not locking forward is no different than ALS. Not a deal breaker. I do wish that the belt loops were designed without needing screws. A little difficult to set up but once it’s in place, it stays locked in place. Dragged the holster through sand, mud, rain and still functioned as it should. Quick detach works well and built solid.
Would it fit the olight baldr s / baldr pro R or streamlight TLR 2 , tlr 8 , TLR vir gun light . Stream light laser sight is under the light
That’s pretty good. Not le but would be nice for training some c-q-b room clearing and running some drills.
Hey I have a g 17 Gen 5 . do you know a light that fits flush with the length of the barrel and frame that works with this or another alien holster
Looks very interesting ! Now that the ala carte source for Safariland holsters is gone, you can not order from them the way you want. We run XDM's and Safariland is a pain to get what we need. Hopefully Alien Gear will become a good and lower cost flexible source. Especially now that many people are running red dots with the need for at least level 2 retention. How about QLS comparability for forks? Mid drop with single thigh strap ? Don't want a full drop leg backer, just a small upper thigh backing plate with one spot for thigh strap, just thin small contoured backer for a single thigh!😁 larger for those who want it, but my arms are not 4 ft long for knee rest drop leg😁One stop shopping flexibility of options!!!! Oh fabric outer wrap for sound reduction. Offer it as a user applied pre cut template!

Can't you use the safariland's QLS on it co I see there is a 3 hole holster on the back? you might be able to use the safariland's UBL also Sir.
is the marring on the slide from the holster? Do you know if the Olight balor pro light/laser will work?
Does some safariland duty hoslters hoods lock in the open position? Because mine does not.
Safariland's are also like that. The hood could go back it doesn't lock. I am also an officer. I have gone through almost anything you could think of while working, I have not had my hood come back though...not saying it can't happen it could. I wonder what holster you are currently using on duty where this isn't an issue? Thanks

Great review! I really expounded on some points that I did not cover in my video review. Also, I managed to get a hold of one of the quick connected expansion packs recently, and I am currently using it on my rig in testing. I've gotta say, I love it!
Also, about the issue of the security of the retention hood. That is a great point. I don't believe that Safariland has addressed this issue either. At least not on my 10 years on rig. LOL. I think that Blackhawk addressed this on their Serpa (aka abomination) and the Epoch holsters.

I would think that the Glock 19 holster would be the same as that which would be for the glock 45 for duty use and would essentially be the same slide length...
Website only shows for Glock 17 and 19 any recommendations for a Glock 45?

There is a "QLS" system that works for rapid force and that's the black hawk's "QLS" system i don't know the name though nor do I know if it's good or not i just saw a video that used that "QLS".
Will this fit a Polymer80 g19 Frame with a TLR1 ?

Can this holster fits any red dot sights?
Why the "45" model? That's 1/2" less it will ride up on you in the car. Or, looking at it the other way, 1/2" you can lower it on your belt.
Would this fit an Olight Baldr Pro Black?
How do you feel Aliengear compares to Blackarch holsters? I own an M&P9 2.0 Compact, and am reconsidering buying a Shapeshift holster now that it's available.

I reached out to Alien Gear weeks ago when I did not receive the "included" quick release attachment system. They responded by saying they are still being made. I have however already modified a Safariland QLS attachment clip to work with this holster. Unfortunatly, you also have to do a slight modification to all the QLS receivers you want to be able to attach it too.

For the extended slide release you referenced at the beginning of the video, the Kagwerks one, are you saying it is completely incompatible with the holster or just that it's tight? Do you think removing some material from the holster would make it work better?

You can buy it configured with or without the hood. I don't see why you could not remove it. It absolutely works with the PL-Pro and PL-2 Valkries from OLIGHT.
I still gotta stick w/ the Safariland 6360ALS/SLS. It doesn't seem like a bad holster. I like how it's more of a universal light option though.

The work around if the level lll hood is a big issue is just buy the level ll, no hood. I like the light style. I see the sworn LE 👮🏻♂️ points. I'm looking at a night 🌃 evening duty rig for my Glocks: 17-22 gen 4s. I already own a Olight weapon light. I may just stick with the 👽 Rapid Force level ll, no hood matte black with Olight 🔦.

I love it I was a safirland slut for a long time I I’m a federal Secuirty officer and professional wisen‘s bodyguard I use this on both jobs I put a leg strap on a battle belt and was good to go I still love the 7000 series holster from safirland but this is a competitor for sure . ... I had no problem putting it on my safirland 94 b

Might sound like a dumb question but what is the point of the “hood” and does it make the draw any slower with it?
Kevin Putnam the hood is to bring the holster to level 3 retention when someone tries to take your sidearm so if the main locking mechanism breaks it will stay in the holster. The ever popular safariland als is a level 1 the optional als guard brings it to level 2 while the hood on sls is level 3

The light capability is an option. You can get it without.
The sls hood dosen't lock on safariland either
But it is super easy to actuate with a gun in hand if it pops up.
I like that mine went hoodless, and I also hate friction locks, and even lost a few tension screws from having it too loose lol. It is unnecessary IMO. I am using that unnamed major competitor, cuz if it was good enough for Jesus, it's good enough for me. That being said, I do like that there are companies out there innovating.

The part I like most is you don't have to keep the light on the pistol to have a secure fit. Can be my owb and duty holster

@@justanothergunner1847 yup. But I find safariland is one very expensive and two kind of difficult to know what I'm ordering. It would be nice to have a graphic that changes as I make selections so I know exactly what I'm building
