I chose a partial knee replacement in 2018 at 46 years old. I continued to play tennis until February 2023 when I finally had to give it up. Although I recovered quickly and was able to walk on it the evening of the surgery, it never was “normal”. Each morning I can barely walk. It swells and stiffens whenever I don’t move it regularly or walk too much. I’m beginning to consider a TKR. Good luck all ! My recommendation is wait as long as possible, find a great surgeon and get a second opinion!
Is it common for a person with small legs to see the partial medial replacement? I'm 4 weeks out and I have a HUGE lump on my tibia where my implant is.. and the skin is so tender that just blowing on it will cause pain. Otherwise I am doing very well in my PT and I plan to return to work 5-6 weeks out!
I just had a partial, had 2 nights in hospital, couldn’t weight bear, needed crutches, still using crutches a week later, wish I was one of the percentage that are fine coz I definitely aren’t, but it is very slowly improving, very slowly.
I,watched a lot of Videos regarding this subject but yours is by far the best and most informative. Thanks !
What an excellent, informative video. I'm going in for a partial on 1/17/2024 and this explanation is just what I needed. Thank you for posing this.
