You just saved me $120 so I could actually disassemble and return my office chair! Thank you!
Same here. £105. Just wanted to be sure to get this right.
Here as well. We're all here for that damn cylinder, and it turns out it is possible!
Thank you!!! I wasn’t able to get the bottom piece apart! Thanks to your video I got it apart and was able to ship it back in the box! I appreciate this video! 👍👍
This was very helpful and enabled me to replace the pneumatic cylinder on my chair
Oh man! I got the cylinder out of the base! I know you whacked it really hard but you still made it look super easy in comparison!
Thank you, very helpful. The duct tape was key to grip the cylinder for a proper twist, I didn’t need to use a mallet probably because I just recently assembled it. 😊
Thank you!! This worked but OMG taking off the cylinder took all my strength with my pliers.
Thank you....I found a nice office chair at Goodwill and I have a Toyota Camry that the chair needs to go into.....what a blessing?
Incredibly helpful! Very easy to understand and follow, helped me replace the cylinder on my chair.
I thought this was hopeless! Cylinder was stuck on both ends. Your tips and tricks made it so easy. Thank you.
If you don’t have a rubber hammer, you can put a book on the cylinder and hammer on it
Thank you !!
wow thank u so much! helped us pop out that cylinder in no time without any damage!
Glad we were able to help! -TB
Very helpful, I really appreciated this when I needed to replace a defective cylinder. Your method worked perfectly for me. Thank you!
Thanks. I was really stuck with the cylinder. I don't have a hammer but I got my dumbbell working just fine.
Haha, innovative! -TB
anythings a hammer if you swing it hard enough
really helped, thank you lady.
Thank goodness I watched this. I couldn't figure out how to get the stem of the chair out of the wheel frame
Thanks guys!
This is the best video I watched on RUclips in the last one week. 282k views and just 900 likes!! People can be so f***ing thankless, unless those 900 people watched it these many times.
Hello very helpful u just saved me money!
couldn't get the cylinder off but luckily had a pipe wrench to twist if off with, thanks for the tip!
You are the best, thanks so much
Thanks , your instructions where very helpful.
You're welcome! Glad they could help! -TB
I found it helpful to grip the upper shaft with vice grips and tap the vice grips with a dead-blow hammer.
Thanks was sweating bricks thinking how difficult it will be to remove the old gas cylinder on a 2008 komac medium swivel chair. That Quarter right turn it popped out easily with a pair of water pump pliers.
Thank You!!!
my cylinder is stuck to the metal mechanism. i can deadlift 450 but i cant pull that thing out holding it still with my feet.....
Same bro.
Y’all weak if you could deadlift 500 then it would come apart
@@once-over4243 my strongman training uncle who can deadlift 750 couldn't do it so no, 500 isn't enough. Edgy cringlord.
@@slimfastsubaru2043 it's cause your uncle & you are a bitch if maybe you could deadlift 900 then it would come apart
@@once-over4243 lol you are so cringe
Thanks a lot
Awesome! 😁
Awesome. 👍
Thank you! Cheers! -GK
This was perfect. Thank you. Do not skip on the duct tape part.
Thank you, however I was expecting to learn "mallet free" method)
Very useful video
I used this video to disassemble ikea arik chair
Woww thus channel is just what i needed. However, i have tried to remove the cylinder and wheels of my harworth lively chair by hammering but I couldn't make it. There are not instructions on the internet and people in the brand do not reply to. What do you suggest me to do?
Alternatively when separating the gas lift from the legs, you can hit the leg part down instead.
hey so I tried using the pipe wrench and it doesnt work at all on my office chair I mean not even budging at all what do I do?
I have a leather executive chair and a plastic piece that connects to the base broke I don't know where to get the part to replace it Irene in Anaheim
I wanted to salvage a few parts of the chair since it broke (I already got a new one) but I think I'll only salvage the casters. I still can't get the cylinder off 😔
What is the best chair to hold over 450 pounds
“remember, always . . . chair with care.”
in the words of Johnny 5. no disassemble
That's too much to remove the damn cylinder
I just want to take mine apart so it will fit in the dumpster better.
3:44 To remove the casters, remove the cylinder 😅
Nah, sorry - tried twice on two different chairs, didn't work.
It looks sooo easy when the lady in the video just turns the pipe wrench at 3:17 - that is the point you realize that either the pipe wrench slips on the pipe, or the chair seat starts to turn off the table, or you're squeezing the wrench so hard that you're damaging the pipe.
These chairs are not made to be disassembled, which is a waste as the gas cylinder is the first thing that expires, and it would worth to replace it to keep a comfortable chair alive for a couple more years.
there is sweat dripping down my face and back i have bashed this cylinder with all my might for 20 minutes and it will NOT come out of the base
I am going to try a heavier mallet. tried hitting the side to loosen and nothing worked. I also used wd40 . this thing is on tight. how do I listen to remove so I can put the new one in. if I knew it was going to be this hard . the chair was expensive
Any luck? Having same issues
@@petervang8127 what’s wrong with ur chair?
So I’m supposed to buy a pipe wrench just to remove a screwed up cylinder? What if you don’t have one?
If the problem is the seat won't stay raised, you can strap an aviation clamp around the cylinder near the base while it is extended.
@@strawhousepig I already had a replacement cylinder, and because I want to be able to raise and lower it using the handle. I actually found a tutorial that showed you don’t need brute strength or pipe wrench. Just need to tap it in the right place. 3 taps with a hammer and it popped right off.
@@NicCanDance damn it! I needed that ahhaha I bought a pipe wrench
@@albertomedina4062 at least you can probably return it once you get the cylinder removed!
My caster wont come off even after i exhaust all my strength :--(
same, have you found a better way? Have pounded at this thing for who knows how long and my hands hurt so bad
What if I don't have a rubber hummer like you?
There are stores that sell them. -RB
@@btodtv I'd only borrow it / rent it. I don't wanna buy something for one use only.
Watched it. I need to disassemble and throw it in garbage. The seat is polyurethane. It’s a mess. Without this video I would be figuring out how to throw.
Why the F would i have a wrench at home? :D
Because you’re disassembling your office chair -GK
Because some people do house maintenance by themselves and don't cry for help because of easily fixed problems and don't pay big bucks for it.
