I'm already a big fan of Polyphia, and while I understand that a lot of people aren't into this track because it has vocals and that distracts from the instrumental work, I can't deny that I've had this song on constant repeat, it's so much fun, so catchy, and the instruments still have moments to shine, I definitely wouldn't want every Polyphia song to be like this in the future but I love that they did this song the way they did
Not going to lie I've been blasting this single in the car and my fiancé literally thought this was Ariana Grande and that’s when I had to tell her it wasn't so I guess it's safe to say that my fiancé is a polyphia fan because I caught her listening to them this morning while we were getting ready for Uni and I would love to see more guest vocals with Polyphia because it works so damn well 🤘
First listen I was a bit meh but I've seriously been hammering this song for days now. To the point I have it in my head most of the day. The way her voice works with the instruments is actually what makes me appreciate it more than anything.
I feel this mix is perfect, they've been going into this direction for a while and love the perfect pop blend with amazing instrumentals so much personally and disagree with ya Johnny boy hahaha
I enjoy Polyiphia experimenting with vocalists. I think we all know their draw is their instrumentation but strong songwriting trumps genre or retaining a sonic identity. I was impressed by the band's ability to maintain their technical flourishes while simultaneously taking a step back and adjust their songwriting to support a vocalist. Beyond that, nobody, not even Unprocessed, Issues, or Babymetal in my opinion, have the ability to blend technical and challenging instrumentation with pop music this seamlessly. I would love to hear Polyphia continue experimenting with pop vocalists as well as different vocal styles such as rap, funk, and hardcore.
If you check out their song list for the upcoming album there are a lot of features, including rap artists like $not, Chino Moreno from Deftones and even Steve Vai
I recommend you check out ZUTOMAYO. They have some amazing musicians and a great vocalist, but she sings mainly in Japanese. They are a bit more jazz-pop though.
This is a prime example of how to take your sound and make a more "accessible" song. Not a single comment from any sort of fan saying "they've sold out" or "they've dumbed it down" at most its people saying "oh on the first time round I wasn't too sure" but after a few more plays... they love it. I think a few other bands could take note.
This song is definitely a grower - at least it was for me, anyway. I am not a pop-head, like, at all. Spiritbox's Eternal Blue and AURORA are as close to pop as a I get, but this just works super well. Tim's so pop music-minded in his song writing and riff writing, in the sense that his riffs sometimes feel and sound like vocal runs in a pop song. So I while I agree some of the instrumentals got pushed back quite a bit and sacrificed for Sophia's vox, they still fit super well together and felt to me like a natural and completely unforced progression for their sound. But ABC is almost literally always stuck in my head now, for better or worse lol. Great video! Always dig your reactions.
Yo I remember following Nathan in the early days of IG when he was the first mustache influencer 😂. Props to locking in another successful path. Good vid
On first listen its distracting for sure but when you listen it back knowing what to expect the musicianship is really very prominent imo. I just think a lot of people, myself included, were just so shocked about what we were hearing to be able to fully listen to everything the first time. But after i listened to it a couple times i was hooked. Been playing it on repeat since it came out. And i generally listen to a lot of instrumental music and am pretty picky about vocals. Also the alternative cds theyre selling have the instrumental versions of the songs on the album as extra tracks. They know their audience
Polyphia has built a few songs off pop tracks (G.O.A.T. comes to mind) and I think this was a natural progression for them. They're featuring a few rappers on their upcoming album as well, so I think collaborations like could push them into the mainstream audience more since this kind of song is more accessible to people who aren't music/guitar nerds. I don't think the song is bad, but it's not my favorite personally. I've listened to it about 10 times now and I won't necessarily skip it if comes up on the playlist, but I won't seek it out. This song is just targeting a different demographic of listener.
I went into this never having heard any of Polyphia before, so I didn't really even know what to think. Definitely feel it takes a bit away from what they typically do, but maybe it's a direction they always saw themselves going in at some point also.
i mostly listen to deathcore metalcore kinda stuff usualy and didnt realy liked polyphia before (maybe because i just dont know enough about guitar playing to realy appreciate it) but for some reason i realy like this song like i was playing it basicaly on repeat after i first found out about it
Cant say im a fan of the newest, but these boys can do anything they want, super talented guys, same with sophia. Thumbs up all though its not my cuppa 🤙🤙
Well, apparently they have several vocalists on their upcoming album, so who knows what to expect. Chino from Deftones is featured on one track, among many others. I personally really like it, but I like seeing them expand their reach! I look forward to even more collaborations with them!
hi, guys how are you? seen the interview with your man from Parkway Drive, gonna see them live with Lorna shore in two weeks here in my hometown :) gonna put some little home movies up just like the other ones ( no professional equipment allowed as a visitor as you know ) love to share the good memories :) hope you can check them out when they're there :) keep up the great work, your vids are really cool ! cheers !
There were entire sections where the guitar was playing without her vocals. Tim playing the Guitar Hero and then Scott playing a harsh tone version of the same guitar in the game show section. It's repeated several times in this song so it wasn't as if you were missing anything during the duo vocal/guitar sections. It's dismissive to relegate Sophia as just a vocalist when she wrote the vocal portions to match the guitar notes as Tim requested, and reciting the alphabet to the 26 guitar notes was her idea as well. Take a guitar solo, write words/lyrics to match the notes and chords timing perfectly. Should be simple right? What she is singing in the Jpop section are the equivalent Japanese 'alphabet' to bookend the English alphabet in the song.
You’re aware that not everyone enjoys the same thing, right? Something not being to someone’s personal preference isn’t necessarily dismissive of an artist.
I'll never understand why people read this track as "detracting from the band". This is one song out of many where they get to have fun. Its also is a good departure from their whole "grandeur" aesthetic that shows they're just goobers (which they are, trust).
Love this track, just wish that Sophia spelt out a phrase, or maybe a word to the beat, instead of singing her ABC's to the beat. The song is incredibly catchy, but I'm just not a fan of that abcs part.
I mean, that's the theme of the song. Being so flustered by your crush that you lose all words, all of the letters just disappear from your mind. So the ABC's part is like trying to get your shit back together, remembering the alphabet and thus your words.
people hating on this track are the same as the people that hated paramore, bmth and other bands transitioning into a poppish route. They just hate pop music in general, good or bad. Thats hardcore emo fans for u

*SAME*
Honestly first time I heard it i was like “it’s okay, meh” and then the more I heard it, it’s become a top 5 most played Polyphia song for me
"She sings quicker than i think" LMAO 😅
Not going to lie I've been blasting this single in the car and my fiancé literally thought this was Ariana Grande and that’s when I had to tell her it wasn't so I guess it's safe to say that my fiancé is a polyphia fan because I caught her listening to them this morning while we were getting ready for Uni and I would love to see more guest vocals with Polyphia because it works so damn well 🤘

I think the vocals fit perfect with Polyphia
While this track is a bit different from Polyphia’s normal fare, I really dug this vibe!
I would listen to this on the radio. The guitar solo is sick.
I fucking love this song, I think this album is gonna be a real eclectic treat for the ears.
I feel this mix is perfect, they've been going into this direction for a while and love the perfect pop blend with amazing instrumentals so much personally and disagree with ya Johnny boy hahaha

@@BrittanyNgo01 I'm very excited to hear that Chino feature. Thanks for information Brittany!

This one has become a guilty pleasure for me. Not my favorite track from them, but I still dig it a lot
It really goes well with Neurotica following right after.
Yo I remember following Nathan in the early days of IG when he was the first mustache influencer 😂.

Johnny, from now on, always bring chocolate (for nath)

this song has defo grown on me and this brings more attention to polyphia 100% but not enough to sophia, she deserves more tbh
I went into this never having heard any of Polyphia before, so I didn't really even know what to think. Definitely feel it takes a bit away from what they typically do, but maybe it's a direction they always saw themselves going in at some point also.
For the fallen dreams released a new banger! Don't let it slip :D cheers
In the music video why would they hire a "model good looking guy" for that desert scene when you got Tim
Fantastic point
i mostly listen to deathcore metalcore kinda stuff usualy and didnt realy liked polyphia before (maybe because i just dont know enough about guitar playing to realy appreciate it) but for some reason i realy like this song like i was playing it basicaly on repeat after i first found out about it
AmericanPop, technical Pop music
Cant say im a fan of the newest, but these boys can do anything they want, super talented guys, same with sophia. Thumbs up all though its not my cuppa 🤙🤙
Echoing a lot of sentiments, not my favorite thing, but Polyphia's tilt was definitely there, even in the complexity of the vocals...kinda cool.
Nate hating on Johnny for being 6 min late was a hilarious intro.
Can’t wait to see the new Nickelback reaction 😎
It's not the first time they have a vocalist
The best part of this song is music nerds completely missing the content of the lyrics
Elaborate, please
Maybe try reacting to their song Nighmare, it's basically the oposite of this one, but also great. It's actually one of their best songs.
What was the brand name of those slippers? I didn't catch it in the dialogue
I agree, this is like the only polyphia song I didn't add to my playlist. I may in the future but not right now
Well, apparently they have several vocalists on their upcoming album, so who knows what to expect. Chino from Deftones is featured on one track, among many others. I personally really like it, but I like seeing them expand their reach! I look forward to even more collaborations with them!

I’ve been digging this so much! Also, check out new Avoid - Whatever

today i learned that there’s a different way to pronounce uno
Not the first song with vocals. So Strange with Cuco got vocals
Nice reaction fellas, if you're itching for another Polyphia "pop" song with vocals check out Brand New Day by Babymetal!
Please check out the song Blue by Nerv!! A reaction would be cool but just want to put them on your radar, at least.
I'll never understand why people read this track as "detracting from the band". This is one song out of many where they get to have fun. Its also is a good departure from their whole "grandeur" aesthetic that shows they're just goobers (which they are, trust).
Have you listened the new Pierce the veil song? You'd love it
We’re waiting for the official video to drop
nope..definitely need to stay instrumental!

Not necessarily. People resonate with music differently, personally, so it just may not be what they enjoy.
Not really for me, like i like it. But doubt ill listen to it again, didnt really hook me.
this big old baby crying because it ruins the treasure of imagination mate just imagine it doesn't have any lyrics
I liked the general idea but the lyrics didn't hooked me at all
Really wasn’t a fan of this at all. Not up my alley.
Same
Not a fan of this style of guitar playing personally and the song was meh. Never been a big fan of poly anyways.
