The mounted native costume classes are always a fan favorite and are just stunning visually to see!
You'll feel like you're there as you watch this 4K video and hear the roar of the crowd at the end when the champion is crowned!

My grandmother took me to Arabian horse shows when I was a little girl. I'd read some of Walter Farley's books and wanted to see a real Arabian horse. Beautiful.
Aw, that's so precious to hear.❤️
I like the gentleman and his black horse!
They are always very popular at this horse show!
Absolutely fabulous! I love how his costume is more authentic looking. In reality, the costumes in the Middle East are never as flashy and loud as in these shows. JMO of course…..
@@calgal5752 i'm sure your opinion about that is correct. This is a fun class that is supposed to be very visually appealing, which of course it is.
@@MagnificentHorses It was always a fun class to ride in too
@@calgal5752 I didn't realize you rode in it. I can definitely see how that would be a fun class to actually be in!
I am from Saudi Arabia, the land of these horses, and I want to say that none of the riders dressed like Arabs But they look great.
Thanks for your comment all the way from Saudi Arabia! I don't think they are especially trying for accuracy with the costumes. They just try to make them look really nice, which sounds like you feel like they do. Thanks again!
Ooh, I'd love to see one of these classes FROM Saudi.
@@chocolatefrenzieya if you want to buy me a plane ticket I'll be glad to go over there and shoot some videos for you!😂
@@MagnificentHorses haha! All my money goes to horses!!
@@chocolatefrenzieya I should've known that!😂
Beautiful breed. I love Arabian horses.
Thanks, there's a lot to live about them!
Yay! I picked the winner this time. It was love at first sight when I saw that black horse. I really liked that there was a male rider in the class. Amazing costume as well. I can't imagine how long it must take to get horse and rider kitted up for this event. Great camera work as usual.👏
Thanks Raven! I am a little biased because I've become friends with Eddie and already did that video of his horse running in the arena at their barn. But I'm pretty sure I would've picked him as the winner anyway.
I picked the winners this time! That Reserve Champion just had a little spunk that set him apart. But, the male rider, all in black on a black steed was impressive. Good soundtrack with the video.
I heard once that for a show, they put Vaseline around the eyes of the horse as "mascara" to make the eyes stand out. That's why Arabian horses often appear to have a darker area around the eye.
Good call on the champion and reserve champion! I had the champion but then had about a four-way tie for second place.😂 I believe it's actually a type of oil that they put around the eyes and muzzle. But same idea as with using Vaseline.
It was nice to see a " MAN" among them. He looked great as well as the horse. I'm playing catch up. So beautiful!! Just wish this breed / show was closer to the Ohio River Valley.
Yeah I don't know why the vast majority are women but that's always how it's been. Hopefully you can make it out to see that show in person someday!
@@MagnificentHorses Probably has something to do with the The Black Stallion books, and movies.
not really; as there wasn't much native costume in the movie or the book lol. It used to be strictly a womans class (when the genders were separated) much like barrel racing@@clairedeluna3585
@@clairedeluna3585 that's a great point! That might be why all non-western riders are mostly female, at least in the USA. Like, I do Hunter Jumper, and the barn where I am at there is one other guy and all the rest are ladies.😱
5:06 Is this the new BIG LICK? Almost everyone also rides with very hard hands.
Please be careful not to end up in the Big Lick Swamp.
@@hepaticanobilis9700 there is nothing cruel about the way these horses are trained or ridden.
Why are their hooves so built up? I don't see this in other countries. Pads? Horrible long bit shanks too.
Yes, those are pads to give a little extra weight on the hooves. Those long bit shanks don't hurt unless they're pulled on too hard. I didn't see any of these horses throwing their heads around or acting up like they would if they were in pain from those bits. And every show in the world for the Arabians, Morgans, saddlebreds, and others all use bits like. Do you think they're all doing it wrong?
@@MagnificentHorses Not "every show in the world"... maybe every show in the USA, but as @CocoandKitty has already said, "they use snaffles or English doubles at most" elsewhere... like where I come from... Australia, where we also don't go for weighted shoes or that ridiculous exaggerated front leg action!
@@joaquinstabbington673 okay, maybe not every show in the world but certainly all over the world. That doesn't really change the gist of what I said. It's fine if you prefer classes like hunter pleasure, but the majority of people prefer this style. What is wrong with it other than it's not what you prefer?
Absolutely stunning they are all winners such a beautiful breed shown the only way they should be
Thanks, they are definitely stunning! They all looked great!
I really enjoyed watching such a stunning display of the Arabian breed. I was so glad my top pick won, that is a beautiful black arabian
Thank you for your nice comment and I'm glad you enjoyed the video so much! It's definitely a fun class to watch!
Lot more than I thought there would be great job
@@DeboeahHauser thanks and I'm glad you liked it!
I’ve had a closer look. There are weights of some type on these horse’s hooves! Are they not magnificent enough without adding weighted shoes to make them step higher, to exaggerate their step? Are you Arabian owners headed the same way as the “big lick” Tennessee Walkers? If this is what I’m seeing then shame on you, if I’m wrong I will apologize.
You are right that Arabian horses look magnificent without weighted shoes but I don't think there's any doubt they look even better with them. Is there a problem that you see with them having weighted shoes? All the other breeds that are rather flashy do the same thing. Breeds like Saddlebreds, Morgans, Friesian, Hackney ponies, and more. Do you think all of them are doing it the wrong way?
Thank you Cindy for your persistence.
Artificial alterations may be 'acceptable' according to current rules, but it's a tragic mistaken curse on the future of the breed.
When people take lower quality animals and alter them to make them ☆"Winners"☆ they don't stop with just the glory and ribbons... they pass on the undesirable traits to the next generation.
It would be nice if there were classes for classic Arabians and separate competition for hobby and half-Arabs.
Let them be flashy as they want without endangering the linage of beauty, balance, character and intelligence.
Amazing! thank you for sharing this video.. Black Costume on a Black Horse is sooo REGAL😍very Captivating!
@@cozzettbradford5758 thank you and yes, that black costume on the black horse looks amazing!
If it is costume they should use original saddles from wood not flat saddles. Otherwise love it
@@BlueGrassWalkers92 thanks and I'm glad you liked watching it other than that for one little thing.
11 days of Arabian horses 🐴❤🔥 what a great 🤩 experience in Scottsdale! Eddie and his magnificent black stallion 🖤are such a great team 🥰 The bay with the 4 white socks with the lady in blue and gold was also amazing 💘
Sarah, you would be in heaven if you could go there! Too bad you live so far away but hopefully someday. I had Eddie in first place and about four others as a tie for second!

Thank you for the close up of the costumes! The Arabian Native Costume Show is my favorite; A difficult decision for the judges to make, but Eddie McCain and Nat King Cole are my first choice for sure! A huge thank you to Eddie for being so gracious to do an interview and show us his costume! As always , great video!
Thank you! Eddie is a great guy and very gracious. And I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
Congrats Nat King Cole! Great Ride!
Thanks, he and Eddie looked great out there!
Really ,young ladies are winner, though they are short to their horse.I think only white horses should have their separte match and other colours should have separate matches as colour effect on judges for their decisions.
@@MaboodShah-m6q thanks for your comment. You should check out my video where I interviewed a show horse judge and he talked about colors of the horses.

I love these horses! Would you ever consider filming a hunter or western pleasure class? I have shown in both and would love to see you film them!
Thank you! I actually did film a few western classes at the Scottsdale show. It may be a few weeks before I'm able to post any of them but I plan on doing that. If you're subscribed to my channel with the notifications on, then you'll get a notice about that. Thanks again!
@@MagnificentHorses Awesome! I’m excited to see it! 😁
I love the Arabs - I own a SE myself ... I think when you reach this level they are all winners! I will note that at 1:33-1:40 it looks like NKC is 'paddling' out his feet which is why I didn't choose him for 'top' - I'm sure it must be the camera angle (?) ... Additionally, I am a fan of the natural look - the extra high head carriage and weighted feet do not, in my opinion, improve on what has been bred into the Arabs .... these poses and exaggerated movements look strange in all breeds though - its a slippery slope into sea-horse noses and big lick strides. Thanks for the video for those of us who cannot make the shows!
Thanks for your insightful comment and you are welcome for the video! One question… What is a "SE" that you mentioned?
@@MagnificentHorsesSE = Straight Egyptian as opposed to say Polish or Crabbet or Russian Arabs
@@clwest3538 OK, thanks for the clarification! I know about Straight Egyption but just not the abbreviation.
Always enjoyed these at the Dayton Horse Show. I knew a man who rode in this class.
@@equine2020 very cool!
He was the most fluid
Yes, thanks!
It should be ILLEGAL to have tails long enough to step on.
Not gonna happen but that is certainly a legitimate idea.
Picked all three right away. I'm getting too good at picking what the judges will pick lol...
@@chocolatefrenzieya that's great! I'm working on a video right now that I will probably post within a couple of weeks that is an interview with a horse judge. You'll have to look for that one to watch!
@@MagnificentHorses I don't always agree with them, now! haha! Especially when they don't pick MY horses! I'll be sure to check your video out, tks!
@@chocolatefrenzieya that sounds good! And you would probably be surprised how many times one judge agrees with your pick even though the majority of judges choose another horse.
Why do their force their horses into such an unnatural form
It's actually not a terribly unnatural form, but they do enhance the head carriage. I interviewed a judge at the show and have a video I'll be publishing later where he talks about that. He said it actually helps the horses in their movement.
Why the huge curb bits and all the chair seats?
The costumes are amazing. Pity about the huge bits and flopping around.
Thankfully here they use snaffles or English doubles at most.
Nice but too much slow motion. Not realistic. Even the walk was in slow motion.
Thanks for the input. It's always a fine line for how much slow motion and regular speed to do. I'll keep that in mind.
@@MagnificentHorses Thank you. I'll keep watching! Love those Arabians.
@@heenanyou that's great to hear!
Are "bobbed" or purposely broken tails allowed in this event? Two horses seem to suffer from this human caused problem. Specifically the light bay horse with rider in blue and beige. As well as the light bay with rider in turquoise and beige. Or do these horse just have very abnormal tail set and carriage? Seems the minority of horses have natural tail carriage.
@@348Tobico I found out today from a reliable source that bobbing the tails was outlawed for Arabian Horses but that some people apparently still do it and get by with it. The Arabians do carry their tail high completely naturally though
I picked both of them! I used to have a grey Egyptian Arabian mare, named Moon Shadow 🥰
@@altheamurphy427 nice job picking them! And I'm sure your mare was wonderful!

@@MagnificentHorses From Germnay, best regards
@@homeworking7321 well thanks for commenting all the way from Germany! I actually get a surprising amount of comments from Germany.
It's a damn shame we don’t c Muslims and their horses in actual equestrian competitions....lols we're always put in 'controlled' environments managed by colonizers 4 their entertainment 🙄
The only problem with that idea is none of us who don't live in that region would not see them without traveling to the Middle East.
WOW so many beautiful Native Costumes and I love watching all of the horses head gallop! 🤠❤❤❤❤❤🐎
I'm so glad you loved watching them!
Beautiful conformations, gaits, and immaculate grooming. The coat colors on these particular Arabians are rather plain, but they are otherwise exemplary. There are lots of excellent breeders out there with magnificent, highly typey, straight Egyptian stock that produce specimens of excellent health, impressive conformation, and stunning action and movement WITH beautiful coats as well. There's always room for improvement in any program of course.
Thanks for your great and insightful comment! I think the reason for the coat colors being a little plain is because this class was for purebred Arabians and they have limited coat colors. I'm pretty sure I have at least one straight Egyptian halter class that I videoed so you can look for that coming out in the next few months. if you're subscribed or want to subscribe you will be notified when each new video comes out.
Fantastic!! Cannot beat the arabian❤
Yeah that's for sure!
Beautiful!
Thank you and I'm glad you liked seeing those horses and riders in their amazing outfits!
The black horse should have been excused from the ring. The Bedouin's destroyed the black horses because they weren't useful in the desert heat.
Although this class is meant to simulate the Bedouins, it's not that exact historically. You make a good point, though, but having a black horse in the native costume classes is not a deduction in points and certainly not something that disqualifies anyone.
Eddie McCain and his beautiful black horse were most impressive to me. That man and his horse are an outstanding couple.
Yes, thanks, they really do look amazing!
I like all the costumes. My favorite are all the ones in blue. When they went around in the clockwise round the only guy you can tell the horse really got the speed going at first to compare to speedy
Thanks! One of the costumes had a lot of gold in it that I liked. I think the rest of it was black as I recall.

🥰😳👍💝
I take it you liked watching them! I'm very perceptive that way.😂
Better in person! 🤠
Always better in person but video is the next best thing!
Dont know why they need such brutal bits and double bridles........
Why do you think their bits are brutal? They are only harsh if they are pulled on too hard. But if that happens the horse is not going to just keep running calmly and smoothly like these are. They are going to throw their heads and act up if that's the case.
I showed costume class for years actually made my own costume for my horse and I
Aw, that's really cool!
Are there weights or heavy shoes on these magnificent horses? Oh, please, will someone let me know.
Cindy, there is no need for artificial shoeing on balanced Arabians. Thousands of years running through desert footing (sands) has eliminated any shuffle footers from the gene pool.
I feel sorry for the horse being ridden by the lady in stripes
What makes you say you feel sorry for that horse?
