Ever notice..... been watching Joe for a time now. Ever notice he never has an ill word to say about anyone or anything? Never makes a derogatory comment about a seller or manufacturer. Joe just maintains a great attitude and keeps working until he finds the solution. Aye, even with a damaged finger he stays out without complaint. "huh"- --- 😄
Joe you are a big inspiration. You dang near rip your finger off and you just bandaged it up and kept going. No complaining or cussing just telling everyone not to make the same mistake. I can’t say it enough but you by far have the best channel on RUclips.
17 days into the new year and this guy has posted over 5 videos so far! While the rest of the channels i watch haven't even posted since last year this show how into this joe really is. Most the others make good videos but after a while they start only posting once a month and the content starts getting strange with to many sponsorships and nonsense. Joe is one of the best for the content and quality of everything he does.💯👍
I love how surprised and happy Joe is when his hard work and knowledge pay off and an engine runs when he tries it. I am working on three classic cars currently and am the same way when something I’m not sure about works. Decided to LS swap my 1972 Buick skylark. It’s been a battle the whole way. But it’s getting close to hitting the streets. Keep up the good work Joe!
Joe, I woke up this morning and started surfing for something to watch. Then I said "Oh cool, I know what to watch ! I hope he posted." And sure enough you did. Thanks for what you do Joe.
Thanks for another great video Joe, what a way to start off the weekend, so sorry you hurt yourself, that was enough to make a preacher swear!! Fast healing.
Simple THANX for being an awesome wrench with frequent posts!!!! My best score was a 1976 Z1900F Kawasaki for $100! bought as parts blown up (supposedly). Removed tank and saw a coil pack unplugged cus the female side needed a tweak. Plugged it in and WALLAH!!! ran perfect!!!! I put 60,000 miles on it myself and sold for 500!
FYI when the cylinder head has both valves closed do to cams timing chain extra being off it'll never crank fast.... air has no way to enter or escape.... hence why they use decompression to allow engine to spin faster at low Rpm... if ya ever put your finger over a syringe with just air in it an tried pulling it an it snaps right back due to vacuum.... pretty much what the cylinder is doin when both valves are closed and not openin when spark plugs are in.... just a lil tip for ya Joe Joe...👍🇺🇲
yep thats why it wouldn't turn easy without timing chain = both valves closed..... turned ok with no plug as the cylinder can breath. even at the end of the video the Idle sounded rough. but its hard to tell for sure on video.
Getting the fingers suck worse then anything !! I have a pinky and a ring finger on my right hand that will never look the same over a bench grinder i was cleaning up bolts pulled them two fingers into it and got hung up in it. I hope you have a speedy recovery Joe and it all heals up nicely!
I went to high school with a kid who took a summer job in construction. He always had a bad habit of dragging his fingers across tabletops. After using a table saw he wasn't thinking and got his middle and index fingers stuck in the blade. He was in the hospital for quite a while after having his fingers reattached. He went on to become a Marine and be quite successful.
that glove thing happened to my father and chopped the end of his finger off. After coming back from the hospital, he emptied out the glove and found the piece of finger that looked like a green olive 🤢I'm glad you're ok, it could have been worse!
'how lucky did we just get' hmm yes only 2 slightly mangled fingers and not two degloved/crushed fingers .....the King of optimism Joe 😂 great job with your bandaged pinkies 👍
Folks this is a true MECHANIC probably one of the best ive seen in a long time and I'm 60. Joe I just knew you lost your finger the end of it for sure but thank God you didn't, you are one tough guy. Great fix Mr. Joe
Man, I was holding my breath when you cranked up after adding all those new parts. Well done Joe! You always get 'em in the end. That was NOT lucky - you are a skilled dude.
I'm 73. When I was a young guy about 25 I was working on an car engine. I needed to bring it up to TDC compression stroke. I used my remote start switch to bring it up on compression stroke but still needed to get the timing marks lined up. I tightened the V belt in my right hand and reached for the fan to pull the crank around the rest of the way to TDC. I left my remote start switch sitting on the battery. As I began to turn the fan by hand the remote start switch fell off the battery and hit button first on the frame rail. That bumped the engine just enough to pull my finger tips index and center between the pulley and V belt. I had to reach across with my off hand and manually pull the fan back to roll my finger tips out from between the belt and pulley. Those finger tips tormented me for a year while the nails grew back in and they finally quit hurting. To this day I am careful about the status of any remote start switch I have hooked up.
i got my pointing finger on my right hand stuck between a sprocket and a chain when i was 13, from then on, my nail grew differently. could have been worse. glad you're ok.
MAN I FELT THAT ! OUCH.. HOPEFULLY THAT COUNTS AS YOUR SACRIFICE TO THE MOTO FLESH GODS FOR THE YEAR ..🤣 that's going to leave a mark, it will buff out, 😁 way to keep on working .. I'm a fan 👍🏻
I was watching 3am also I saw the notification while watching his other UTV video from a year ago. Same plastic gear bad same problem with the radiator not bleeding easily. I would sell those Chinese built units and move on. Joe has a lot of heart to patch his finger up and go right at it. I can feel it throbbing now and I hope he gets a little time off for healing. I don’t guess it’s in his nature. Ride on.😊😊😊
Sorry that you injured your finger. 👉 Bet you will feel your heart beating in that digit for a few days. I use rubber disposable gloves exclusively. They give easily and prevent grabs. I reuse them until they fall apart. Maybe try to find a sponsor like gorilla gloves. Hope it heals up quickly. You should do a finger progress segment on your vids for the next 2 weeks.
Hello,grâce à vous ,je n achèterai jamais un engin comme celui là.Je n ai pas votre patience et votre persévérance 😉😅👍💪🏻🙏ce n est pas un miracle mais votre travail à donner ses fruits 👏🏻
I admire your patience! Your even temper is a huge asset. I don’t have your knowledge, but learning many lessons from watching you work. Well done man.
Joe, thank you for showing the glove-error and consequences - owning our mistakes is part of how we learn, and set a good example for others. Also - suggest you get some nitrile "finger cots" to cover your bandages. They will pop right off if snagged, but will really help you avoid or at least reduce contaminating the bandages and the wound. They really help a lot.
Yes, it is a great channel and i thoroughly enjoy watching. I'm 77now and i just wish that information passed on this way could have been available when i was young enough to have used it 😊🇬🇧
I was really thinking it was crank bearings and an oiling problem. Never would have thought of it being flywheel effecting the spark. Experience has no price tag. Great job. Good luck with the finger OUCH!
Me too. The only thing that was throwing me off was how clean the top-end was. Usually, it's always the top-end that grinds to a halt first from lack of lubrication.
Well done Joe….your perseverance won this battle for sure. Your next buy from the cfmoto dealer that sold you this project owes you one. I would lean on them to give you a better deal on the next one you buy from them to make up for your time and further $ investment in resurrecting this one.
I was a machinist and you never use a glove or have jewelry on when working on things or you may lose a finger or hand.Better to lose some skin than body parts.
I agree with Andy. I spent 10 years working in tool rooms and I never had gloves around spinning gears or belts. I also left my wedding band in my wallet when I was working - it's especially dicey when welding.
Gloves when working with fluids, sharp items, general wrenching = A-OK, a good practice in general. Gloves when working on active rotating machinery - a strict no-no!
I worked in the underground and above-ground coal mines and been a mechanic too. I've got so many scars and things on my fingers and hands now from years of abuse. My pointer finger on my right hand doesn't have any feeling down one whole side from slicing myself really deep. Black electrical tape has been wrapped around my fingers many-a-day. I'm just saying, I know a lot of us get it, and we've gone right back to working as well. I look forward to watching every video, sir. Also, some of the parts they've used on those Chinese machines look to be extremely cheaply made. I knew they cheaped out and used some plastic gears, but that chain tensioner surprised me a little. I think even buying a used machine from one of the big 4 is a better investment option for anybody. From just watching your videos, those gears and things look to be a common point of failure. At least you could get to this one without jerking the whole assembly out.
Dealerships are not in business to save you money. They hire replacers, not mechanics. Instead of looking deep for the problem, they will replace the whole engine or buy back the machine if still under warranty.
Joe dude, this one caused you some battle damage on your left hand, but you took it like a champ and stayed in the fight, bravo buddy! Oh, I would have had to bleep out a few hundred choice words. lol
Sorry about your finger Joe. You're old school for bandaging it up and heading back to work. I'll binge watch a bunch of your videos just in case you have a little down time or Dr bills.
Ouch. I watch you every time. Love your patience and smarts. I've been doing this stuff for a long time and have the scars to show for it. The reall pain will come in the next few days. Vitamin D AND Collegen and it will heal twice e as fast. thanks for all your videos. Jack
I used peroxide on my bad finger injury for five days straight before going to the hospital. No more feeling left on what’s left of my finger. Doc said peroxide was a baaad idea. Get well soon Joe!
When i was a FF EMT an old rancher who I knew was digging fence posts with an fence post digger and a small tractor. He was wearing gloves and working by himself out in the field. He reached up to adjust the head of the auger and a bolt that was hanging out caught his glove and sucked him into the post hole digger. They found him almost an hour later, still spinning on the auger. The tractor was still just idling like nothing happened. Blood had been drained out of him, and he was white and dead. Sad truth about the dangers of gloves.
Dude, don't feel too bad, seen a few guys hurt themselves wearing gloves and other loose clothing. Only time I wear gloves is harsh chemicals or working outdoor in winter, but usually avoid gloves if you are concerned about oils etc, you can get invisible gloves. It's a cream that you rub into your hands until dry, it works very well
Instead of using a shop rag to clean plastic and other particles from an engine, it's best to use compressed air. Provided you have enough air pressure, nothing should be left after a really good close-proximity blasting.
To the right side while putting the new plastic gear on, I believe there was an internal oil screen. Should have checked it while you were there. Great job otherwise. I think you should get an infrared thermometer. Great for checking temperature at different places instead of touching.
Dude! Hope your finger heals up fast and 100%. I scared the crap out of myself with the automatic garage opener and gloves… thankfully came away from it with only some pain!
Need to start rating the projects by how many bandages on Joe at end. Good explinations and camera work as usual. When are you opening a resale shop Joe?
OUCH! That brings back memories, this happened to me about 20 years ago, I have a flat-ish lefthand middle finger tip, Good on you using the peroxide I did the same, you'll have to do that for a few consecutive days (cleaning with the peroxide), then, you'll need to put gauze on it so that it can breath, you do not want the sore getting sweaty.... It should heal up in about 2 weeks, but, be warned.... It'll be sensitive for quite some time to come and you will have to be patient while the kalis (thicker skin) builds back up...
I caught my finger tip in a machine, and it ripped the whole top off like a Zippo .I held the top back on the nail fell off, I had to go and get it all stitched up at a hospital so yeah ,hope you're ok, you were lucky that it didn't drag your bloody hand in there, Well great video by the way, I haven't watched it all yet only just got a passed you catching your glove and finger.
Wow, that's a great-looking UTV. I'm sorry about the finger, keep it clean and covered. Take care of that old body. Amazed again at your patience and knowledge. Ignore your detractors, keep being you, and keep up the hard work
Great job of believing in your work and just putting the engine together and firing it up. A lot of people would have quit when it seemed like it was still turning over slow after all the new parts.
Holy crap dude! That pinch on your finger looked painful 😅 hopefully you heal quickly and no issues 🙏 your videos are awesome and part of my daily routine 😀
Damn Joe... I feel your pain.. I absolutely HATE it when I do dumb stuff AND injure myself while doing it.. I get more mad at myself than anything.. lol.. lesson learned, I guess... but dang what a setback... lol.. Hope your finger gets better, dude... (Why is it always our LEFT hand gets the most injuries?... lol.. because we're "right-handed"?.. lol.. dunno, food for thought..) CHEERS!!!
Not quite. After parts and labor he's looking at maybe $3500 - $4000 tops. Most people in the market for one of these end up buying used Japanese machinery instead because of their proven reliability over these Chinese units.
Ever notice..... been watching Joe for a time now. Ever notice he never has an ill word to say about anyone or anything? Never makes a derogatory comment about a seller or manufacturer. "huh"- --- 😄
Joe, makes me a better person and I don’t care if he cleans any thing❤❤❤❤❤
He's mock Polaris time to time but nothing to bad.
He’s like my youngest son, always has a positive attitude. Keeps focused and gets Great results. There are Good people in this younger generation!!
@ you raise a good kid you have to be proud Dad it’s exciting to see what are kids are going to do next
Joe you are a big inspiration. You dang near rip your finger off and you just bandaged it up and kept going. No complaining or cussing just telling everyone not to make the same mistake. I can’t say it enough but you by far have the best channel on RUclips.
I'd be looking for a temperature/fan sensor that kicks in a lot earlier after those overheating problems!!
We all get too comfortable with stuff we do every day. I'm just glad you didn't lose that digit. That deserves a thumbs up all by itself.
Hardest working youtuber in the game. Thanks for doing what you do
Him and Derick from vicegrip
@jongollakner4653 oh yeah Derick is another one

Really like how knowledgeable you are how you don't give up you just keep pushing and pushing.
Cost a few bucks and nearly a finger! Glad you sorted the problem Joe - well done.
Joe, I woke up this morning and started surfing for something to watch. Then I said "Oh cool, I know what to watch ! I hope he posted." And sure enough you did. Thanks for what you do Joe.
Get the digit looked at by a pro! Great video other than the accident! Thanks for all of your postings and take care!

Like a roller coaster up and down.
But in the end you come out on top.
Keep up the good work.

or have a machine shaop make up some metal gears...
@minskmade Exactly. Personally, I wouldn't have bothered to put the same cheap plastic junk back into a job this big.
Good job Joe, just remember fingers don't grow back, we've all done it , not thinking. from now on you'll remember...keep going
It's been almost one year i follow your vídeos and i love it.
Keep like that.
Huge hug from France

GM from NY.Another great morn start w joe the motoman and coffee.B safe peace.
Man lost part of his finger, got covered in coolant, and still didn’t get discouraged. Huge props dude.
It’s not a miracle you are just the greatest mechanic that I’ve seen keep on making great videos🏍️
Great diagnosis, really enjoy your videos 👍, keep up the good work.

Well done man.
sometimes I think "2vintage is really intelligent", and then others I think "WTF is bro doing" :P

man i love watching these vids, please keep making them!!!
I can’t believe you kept going after the finger incident, I think I’d have shut off the lights and taken the rest of the day for some herbal healing 😂
Mate love Ur videos so informative, I was sooo pleased it started up also😂
Right on Joe got a well deserved break [especially ]after almost losing the finger lol

You have a LOT of patience. I would of launched that thing from the nearest bridge. Great video!
Nobody better in the ATV repair game! Love the videos and long time subscriber! How is the finger?
Not sure why, but I always get a little chill when Joe's projects fire up for the first time.
Wearing a ring while working on the farm is also a bit of none starter. It is easy to catch and tear digits.
Buddy of mine got hired on as a machinist apprentice. He had to cut his long hair off before his first day on the job.
Another great job Joe. Bravo!
Way to hang in there! I’m with you all the way !
You deserve that win!!
You’re one heck of a mechanic! Great troubleshooting bud!!!
I wonder how many dealerships watch these videos and fire their mechanic after seeing how much money they lost. 😂
Dealerships are not in business to save you money. They hire replacers, not mechanics. Instead of looking deep for the problem, they will replace the whole engine or buy back the machine if still under warranty.
hope your finger feels better and heals well.
Ouch looked very painful Joe love the way you never give up always get them up and running
Joe dude, this one caused you some battle damage on your left hand, but you took it like a champ and stayed in the fight, bravo buddy! Oh, I would have had to bleep out a few hundred choice words. lol
Hey Joe!,man you just keep churning the projects out!!,awesome 👍🇦🇺
Joe I feel your pain. I just smashed 2 fingers the other day.Blood shot out from my nails.Keep these awesome videos coming. Thanks
That engine sounds great, that may be a good candidate for a restoration. Or at least getting it back on the road maybe. Great video!
Sorry about your finger Joe. You're old school for bandaging it up and heading back to work. I'll binge watch a bunch of your videos just in case you have a little down time or Dr bills.
Another great video Joe you were lucky with your finger mate glad she's going great 👍
So happy for ya, need some time for your fingers yo heal before a total rebuild, hard to do with one hand. Good job dude! Keep em coming.
Joe, it must be a lot of timing and planning to do one of these films. I watch every morning, JOE
Love the content man been waiting for this video lol, when are you going to get another cr500
Good job man love the videos
That must've been a relief lol, it fired up the first try. What a great result.👍❤️
This one fought you but you won. Great job and video.
Great job Joe!!1 You hung in there and found the problem.
Good job Joe can`t wait to see you drive it.
Great job !
I think the intake swallowed a bit of coolant causing it to repeatedly stall out until it finally cleared itself.
Very sorry you hurt your finger...hopefully it doesn't require stitches and begins healing quickly. What a mystery repair this project was...nice job!
That flywheel was the culprit after all 😊😊😊 Amazing you deserve a big Congratulations 😊😊😊 Sorry about you finger 😢
Well you really took a hell of a battle wound with this one, so I'm glad it came together for you..
Man, I'm really sorry about your finger. I hope it heals up completely and quickly - and glad that engine fired up.
I spoke too soon...

A 3 part series closure video
..educational as always. Angry overtime Joe pulls plastic gears from engines. Quality dissappearing
Every time..
Dude! Hope your finger heals up fast and 100%. I scared the crap out of myself with the automatic garage opener and gloves… thankfully came away from it with only some pain!
Keep an eye on that finger infection is nothing to take lightly......ThanX for sharing Joe. ......🔥🔥🔥❤️👍🏽💯
Yeah, just keep trying it Joe maybe it will have fixed itself!
Need to start rating the projects by how many bandages on Joe at end. Good explinations and camera work as usual. When are you opening a resale shop Joe?
Fantastic to follow you on this Project// Bertil from Sweden
That is a Near Miss, lots of paperwork needs to be filled out!!! Glad your ok!
Hope your hand heals quickly and completely!
A lot of people would have quit when it seemed like it was still turning over slow after all the new parts.
great work bud
Holy crap dude! That pinch on your finger looked painful 😅 hopefully you heal quickly and no issues 🙏 your videos are awesome and part of my daily routine 😀
Great video!
Maybe the one way bearing is intermittently failing.
Causing the starter to spin , the starter spool down noise
Joe is undefeated 😂
Attention, Attention! 8 finger Joe at work! Just kidding, you do better than most of us! Keep on going!
That is another 7k in the pocket. Job well done. I wish I have your talent.
Not quite. After parts and labor he's looking at maybe $3500 - $4000 tops. Most people in the market for one of these end up buying used Japanese machinery instead because of their proven reliability over these Chinese units.
