    Always glad to see another favorites! Putting this in my brain folder filed under 'what to recommend friends who don't want to order internationally' for sure! I should really try out some of these too sometime, but since I've been overwhelmingly happy with pretty much all of the kbeauty I have, it really doesn't feel worth it to me to try something else since I'm not a reviewer. That being said-- I second you on the lion pair acne cream. forever glad I let myself be influenced on that front.

      Have you tried the Trader Joes face sunscreen? 8 bucks and it is great under makeup.…….doesnt feel like a mostuizer, more matte, I use that alot because I don't like to waste the better protection of the k beauty on days I am not really out or more indoors working.…….my stylvana package was ordered Nov 8 still not here but to be fair they are busy with martial law, ousting presidents so my sunscreen prob not priority. 😂

    I think the byoma barrier repair is my favorite new skincare find of the entire year! I tried it on a whim because of a sale and I keep buying it because it is absolutely just as soothing as moisturizers that I’ve tried that cost almost $100! Ppl with normal skin probably wouldn’t have their socks blown off as much as I have, but having extra dry skin that level of soothing is something that I would pay money for lol I love that I don’t have to with this and I can keep buying it! It’s fabulous!
    I think I’m going to try the ordinary milky toner once my skin calms down because I really can’t afford more expensive skincare at the moment so that one looks perfect for keeping hyperpigmentation at Bay!

    Loving the holiday nails. Some folks might want to try the cerave healing ointment or plain petrolatum if they are allergic to lanolin (aquaphor). Speaking of brands that aren't Differin, why is LRP one of the most expensive adapalene versions out there when you can get several cheaper brands?

    • @AliceintheRabbitHole
      @AliceintheRabbitHole  15 часов назад +2

      Thank you for mentioning a lanolin-free option, that is super helpful!
      And I’ve been wondering that for quite a while now with LRP. When I first started buying adapalene, ulta ran all kinds of deals on the whole LRP brand (tons of 40% off). Now those seem so few and far between. …their loss as I’ll gladly switch haha
      And thank you! I wasn’t sure I could handle long nails, but I’m finding them to be oh-so-fun 😁🎄

    I agree all my skincare is cheaper, although it is all K and J beauty which has so many great affordable brands. I used J beauty since my teens and Nameraka Sana was my go to brand, and also Kose, Minon, Curel and Shiseido's drugstore lines like Aqua label. Differin is prescription only in the UK, so I got my GP to prescribe it for me. I also tried that Geek and gorgeous retinal and loved it. Scinic, Cosrx and K Secret also do great retinals at an affordable price, I liked the K Secret one a lot. Almost all Japanese sunscreens have alcohol, except that kiss me one which I bought last year in Japan and liked it, and ones made for sensitive skin like the Anessa milk in the pink bottle, minon sunscreen, the sana one although only spf 25 and more like a primer, and the curel sunscreen to name a few but all have strong white casts

    Love the “holiday nails”! Thank you for sharing your recommendations. You are always so thoughtful and nuanced. I think availability and belief are huge factors in affordable skincare. While the US marketplace has a lot of OTC options, other countries do not. Many people still believe that a “chemical” sunscreen is bad. Many people still believe a government approved sunscreen is the only kind of sun protection is the only effective sunscreen that exists. I believe experiential factors are hugely important in efficacy and use. If you enjoy using a product, you will use it and receive the benefit(s) from that product. It doesn’t matter how much money you save, if you aren’t using it, it is a waste of money. I am looking forward to the high end version. I am also looking forward to the JBeauty and KBeauty recommendations.

    My favorite affordable cleansers are the from the Inkey List - Oat cleansing balm and I like the deep clear cleansing balm from Pyunkang Yul. I like to save money with my cleansers because the serums, toners and creams I use now are a little more pricey and since I am washing it off anyways - I don't feel bad about it. I love the Suncut UV Perfect Milk - I like the matte finish and I have another one that I picked up from YesStyle a JBeauty sunscreen. I don't do sand and I don't do sun - I would actually find that quite boring to lay on a beach, or I guess it would depend on who I was with and maybe if I had a good book, but I was all covered up anyways, lol. Have a great night, Alice! 🌸💮🌸

      I finally got the inkey lists balm to try (suuuper far behind there haha, but excited nonetheless!)
      And I think that is a wise system with saving $$ in the cleanser category. No real reason to overspend there, for sure!
      Yeah, the beach is only tolerable at sunrise and sunset for me. Otherwise: hot sun that wants to burn us, hot sand that gets everywhere and burns my feet, cold water, jellyfish that want to sting my legs…ugh. It’s not even pretty LOL. It’s pretty at sunrise and sunset, I rest my case 🤣

      I did start gradually, but I wish I hadnt 😂
      Because of my sensitivities, I was nervous to start the two together. I read up a lot on Epiduo (rx only script that combines them) to get comfortable with the concept. Now, I wish I’d started it sooner!

    I am really going through some stuff with my face. I got some Tatcha Indigo overnight mask cream a couple months ago, and it totally cleared up all my peeling and red splotches on my face.
    Now my Tatcha is gone, and my red, peely face is starting to come back. Do you think Stratia Gold will help as well as the Tatcha Indigo cream? I really need to find something really thick and potent. I can’t afford to keep buying the Tatcha. I’m really considering getting the Stratia

    • @AliceintheRabbitHole
      @AliceintheRabbitHole  14 часов назад +2

      Do you know the cause?? If it’s red from inflammation, you might want to try the lion pair. If it’s a damaged barrier, lipid gold is one of the best things for it!

    • @EnvyBlu
      @EnvyBlu 14 часов назад +1

      It’s a damaged barrier, or just overdoing the Tretinoin. My skin goes through this cycle occasionally from using my Tret. I have to get some potent creams to soothe and comfort it, then it goes away. But I don’t want to keep buying the freaking Tatcha. I think I’m going to try the Stratia!

    Hi Alice, what do you know about Sodium Benzoate + vitamin C?
    Videos ago, you recommended the Naked Fridays SPF. I really want to try it around my eyes. But I heard that sodium benzoate (used in the NF SPF as a preservative) can become carcinogenic/ benzene when mixed with vitamin C and I like to use a vitamin c serum in the AM. Is that something that you think is worrying or more clean beauty fear mongering?

    • @AliceintheRabbitHole
      @AliceintheRabbitHole  2 часа назад

      I looked into this and also cannot find anything but clean beauty citations (not sure I should call those citations!)
      It seems to be another example wherein a reaction COULD happen under certain conditions (ie high heat). But this isn’t realistically a problem for those of us wearing skincare on a daily basis.
      I guess unless you fall into a volcano or something? Slip in lava? (Ouch)
      Skincare reactions might be the least of your problems in that case though!

    Off topic, as usual. People are so excited about all the sales and deals this time of year. But I don’t think companies are going in the red over Black Friday, Cyber Monday or any other holiday special. So now I’m thinking maybe it’s not a sale. Maybe companies are ripping us off most of the year and are throwing a few crumbs our way.
    I hope I don’t get kicked off the channel but I’m not feeling as warm and fuzzy as I used to.

      I also have always thought the holidays have the potential to be warm and fuzzy themselves… or very much not. We already had a not-thanksgiving over here, now we are puzzled for Xmas. What a year. Not just for us, but I think for a whole lot of folks.

    The speedy mascara remover is wonderful. It works great but the key is to keep it on long enough. I put it on my eyes and then take my jewelry and clothes off, put on PJ's or lounge around clothes, and then brush my teeth. That seems to be enough time. After that I just clean my face as I would normally, and I don't have to work on getting off both my mascara and gel eyeliner on my upper lash line. If I run out and have to use other products, I find it makes my eyes a bit sensitive.
