He did used blueprints,this is plugin which can record your process of anything
(modelling,texturing,particles) and it can disable and enable view of objects,also you can change camera positions and angles.He just disabled blueprints so it looks clean,and damn it does

I once did some card in 3D (didnt finish it, was noob), some class mate told me he wanted to learn. I did a tutorial, but like, not gay for him, i even started talking english a bit after start because i thought about putting it on youtube xD I think i tried some audi. I started with blender in like, 9th grade, by 12th grade i was comfortable, 2013 got into maya, and then i started playing games and never did anything again xD Then i started doing some tutorials in digital tutors maybe in 2014 or 2015, then didnt touch any of that again. Last year they capped my net traffic so i downloaded blender again xD Now, dont know what ill do, but i think ill do some course, just to have some papers to show, and continue online training. MAYBE, dont know tbh. If i do some course at some school, i really hope they use maya, started with blender and moved to maya, i dont want to be learning any other 3D package -.- They are about same but have different names for the tools and hotkeys, its annoying to learn that... When doing digital tutors tutorials i had to choose one app, choice was between maya and 3ds max, online people told me game studios tend to use max, but that movie industry used more maya, and i ended up choosing maya, just seemed the most complete, to me... and its not hard to learn tbh, was smooth, different from blender, but not really much harder.
3Ds Max is very similar since they're from Autodesk

What modifier makes the edges round if I may ask, it gives off that TurboSmooth effect but without affecting poly count from what it seems.
Subsurface and it does add polys
