This is the essence of a brilliant guitar solo played by a master musician. Not a flurry of notes as a time filler, it’s a melodic masterpiece that compliments and adds to the song. Melody above everything else. An absolute masterpiece.

Louie has said many times that he doesn’t plan his solos, they come out of an inner well of creativity. What he doesn’t say is that this well is constantly being refilled by playing, by listening, by practicing. Is that genius? I guess it can be. But there’s an enormous amount of work over a lifetime of playing music involved, too.
