The economy was actually recovering in 1933 (when he was taking office), but took a nose-dive thereafter, under his policies. The only signs of recovery of the economy during his term was after he got us into war with Germany and Japan, and the resulting massive, massive incursion of debt for the build up of war materials Also, FDR was elected and reelected 3 times, in great part, due to petty politics (Hoover's ham-fisted dealing with the Bonus Army encampment in Washington, and a refusal to repeal the 18th Amendment) and, as we see today John McCain, Mitt Romney and Hillary Clinton, his opponents were horrible candidates. As for WWII, ask yourself why we got involved in the first place in a war 6,000 miles away, started by European economic-powerhouses Great Britain and France against a resurging Germany, which, in concert with the USSR, invaded and divided an aggressive Poland. Read: "1939- The War That Had Many Fathers," by Gerd Schultze-Rhonholf. Germany never declared war on any countries during WWII, except the United States. Why? I like to be fully-informed before I start hero-worshipping. FDR was no hero and his policies have hurt this and other countries.

. My grandfather's middle name was "E" . Common old tradition of having every child's middle name be he first letter of their mother's maiden name. A way to honour her.
FozzieatDetour BillNye Well, actually according to the history of swim wear, some people swam in their underwear, others did swim in the nude including women. in the Middle Ages and into the 18th century was considered of doubtful morality, and had to be justified on health grounds.
Jack Houck Sorry, that was my mistake, it was in the middle of the 18th century. And of course he was president in the early part of 19th, I don't know why that's a big deal, I know someone who swam nude back in the early 20th (I saw a picture of them in a photo album). On the other hand, he was a kid. Whatevs, not a big deal.
Truman didn't have a middle name? So what? That doesn't make him weird. His mother probably forgot to fill in the birth certificate in full and then never got around to changing it.
I'll say this about Cleveland at least he was willing to take responsibility and not pass the duty to someone else when he was the Sheriff. As for Coolige he probably would have fit in with the punk movement decades later, the same group that also put Vaseline on their heads.
Both of Truman's grandfather's names started with S to not show favoritism his mother just decided S would be his middle name this is not weird AND your welcome lesson learned
Kennedy shared his health issues with other family members. Colitis commonly coincides with pituitary tumors, which is what was causing his Addison's disease. Pain medications often seem weak with put tumors, though we don't know exactly why. JFK is a distant cousin in my family tree and you can see where pituitary tumors affected members in each generation. I have one, but I have a different illness that affects my cortisol levels. Addison's makes your body unable to produce enough cortisol, and Cushing's (what I have) causes you to produce way too much. Even very strong opiates don't affect my pain the way they should. He was probably able to take 10 times the normal dose and still drive a car with no ill effects. It's very bothersome.
Even if you introduced me to a single person who likes swimming, thought they saw a UFO, takes medicine for their ill health and doesn't have a middle name, I wouldn't think they were even the tiniest bit weird
there have ufo reports for as long as we had records. but around that time there was a huge spike of sightings. funny how that happens just as atomic energy starts being explored. curious aliens? but yeah world powers were drawn to UFO sightings back then anyway because if they make contact or find a UFO the technological implications would be great and to be honest it probably isn't that crazy that governments take crashed UFOs and keep them secret. what made carter weird was he admitted interest. but if you were a superpower wouldn't you be interested.
You idiots seriously believe that the government is involved with a massive cover up to hide UFOs from the public? First off there is overwhelming evidence they could not exist. Second if the government tries to hide UFOs then why do they spend hundreds of millions of dollars trying to find them?
Riding motorcycle to my mom's house here in L.A last year I looked up and saw a space ship that was not only changing color but disappearing and reappearing. Glad Jimmy Carter saw the same thing I saw just years later.

Please learn how to pronounce the words you say. There were many words you mis-pronounced but one big example since your subject is Presidents would be Franklin Delano Roosevelt. His middle name is pronounced DEL A NO. Not DEL ON OH. If you are serious about voice overs, do your homework. I've noticed that very man well spoken narrators on amature voice overs on youtube screw up the pronunciation of words often....I'd say nearly 100% of the time. Its a pet peeve of mine but still though, hope this helps you and you don't get bent out of shape.
Always freaked me out how much medication JFK took - I am the same age he was when he became POTUS and so are most of my friends and none of us can even fathom taking all that medication. I don't even think my grandparents took that much when they were in their 70s and 80s.
I had a feeling that Calvin Coolidge was a little quirky, but I didn't expect the vaseline obsession specifically. I thought Grunge was gonna talk about his love of weird food combinations or something.
Washington grew hemp for the fibres which are used in the manufacture of rope and sacking. There is no evidence that he smoked weed and it is most unlikely that he did so or he would not have had the drive or ability to do what he did.
This vid had me laughing my keester off. That bit about JFK being so sickly at 17 was mighty interesting. I reckon he either got better or grew a pair cuz in case you weren't aware in WWII he was in the US Navy. While as the CO got his PT all shot to shit but made it to an island with his crew and eventually made contact with an Aussie coast watcher. The Aussie contacted friendlies and the crew of the PT109 were all rescued. *Surely you heard of this? It was in all the papers.*
Yea I heard of it. But there is something YOU never heard of and its not because he got better OR that he grew a pair. He was going to be classified 4F because he was so sick. But old Joe used his connections to fix it that he not only got accepted, but that he got PT boat duty as well.
To me the weirdest thing about Carter is this: I heard that he had a PhD in nuclear physics, yet he could not pronounce it - he said "nucular". Most universities require you to be able to pronounce your subject of study before they give you a post-grad degree. I'm just saying.
That's not true. Carter graduated from the U. S. Naval Academy. And he could pronounce "Nuclear." He just said it with a southern accent so it sounded a bit funny. It was Dubya Bush who couldn't pronounce it.
I would still like to know if Johnson had anything to do with the assasination of JFK. I have heard several times from different sources that Jackie Kennedy thought so. They were to release the JFK papers recently but did not release most of them.
On your last fact about Truman's middle name there is a reason why it's "S" he took on the S in honor of his father whom he accredited all he was to him. There you go
I think "silent" letters in names was a common practice around the time Truman was born. My great grandfather's legal name was J.P. and neither J nor P stood for anything.
@@mebanks-smith9079 Very true. Each parent wanted to name him after their own father (Shipp and Solomon) so they compromised and just gave him the "S" as a tribute to both!
Except for LB. Johnson none of these people were particularly weird. Yes they may have done weird things but that doesn't mean they were weirdos. When I think of weirdo Presidents I think of R. Nixon, H. Hoover, W. Harding, F. Pierce, and A. Jackson. But of course the weirdest President to date, by far is the current one.
Richard Nixon, our 37th POTUS, was also a weird individual, probably more weird than any of the 7 presidents featured in the video. He couldn't make small talk with the ordinary citizens of America; he was very unmechanical and had to be taught on how to operate a simple tape recorder; and he would stroll on the beach dressed in slacks, dress shoes, and wearing a windbreaker. Unlike the 7 presidents featured, Nixon would not sleep in the same bedroom with his wife. He and Pat Nixon had a somewhat distant relationship and they would only talk to each other when they were getting off Air Force One, just for show. There was very little conversation. His Chief Of Staff, Bob Haldeman, once said that Nixon was the strangest man he had ever met and shook hands with him only once, as he was getting fired for his involvement in the Watergate affair .
5:22 ROFL! Capping off a discussion on Lyndon Johnson's grossness by showing the 'fake piece of shit' scene from Caddyshack, accompanied by the Jaws theme! This had me laughing for a whole day!
LBJ was notorious for photos showing him picking up his two hound dogs, Him and Her, by their long ears. He was naturally criticized for it by a lot of animal lovers. It does look cruel, although supposedly it didn't hurt them.
Cleveland was the Sheriff of Erie County New York, and to the best of my knowledge executed two prisoners, not 'many.' Truman should not be thought weird because the S which was his middle name meant S. It was his family that was weird. There was discussion of making the S to be Shipp, his Paternal Grandfather's middle name or Solomon, his Maternal Grandfather's first name. Indecision made the S be just S. For something that is a bit strange, Richard Nixon liked cottage cheese covered with ketchup, and sometimes a bit of pineapple. At the same time!
I've read many of these before. In fact I am now reading a books named Presidential Humor. and there is a quote therein which seems to go well with your video. Dwight D. Eisenhower said that "Any man, (or any one now) who wants to be President is either an egomaniac or crazy." with some its a heaping helping of both.
Trumps not weird he's simply a bully who gets off on hurting those who are weaker than him. And he knows he can because he's rich and that's all that matters in the U.S. Of A.
JFK was really frail, despite his robust public image. His Addison's Disease made him look tanned. I read that he would never have survived his second term in office.
Kennedy also took Steroids to boost his Testosterone that was already low, A prime example is shown before Presidency when Kennedy was skinny, to During Presidency when he was more fat in areas that were once skinny.
Actually the "S" represents two middle names because his parents couldn't whether to put down shippe or Solomon. So they decided on the "S" to represent both.
how is JFK having to take medication for very serious health conditions make him weird? I have that book, An Unfinished Life.

The "S" in Harry S. Truman was meant to stand for "Solomon" and "Shippe," first name and middle name respectively, of his two grandfathers.
. My grandfather's middle name was "E" . Common old tradition of having every child's middle name be he first letter of their mother's maiden name. A way to honour her.
That would mean that the E stood for the complete name.
lmao ''happy birthday Mr President''
Yozaaaa *you're pretty Hubba Hubba girl!!*
salamander saas I had never seen the video of her singing, just the Dave Chapelle summary. "mm mm bish my family's here" lmaoo
salamander saas LMAO 😂
Swimming trunks weren't invented in 1776. JQA had an excuse to go skinny dipp
FozzieatDetour BillNye Well, actually according to the history of swim wear, some people swam in their underwear, others did swim in the nude including women. in the Middle Ages and into the 18th century was considered of doubtful morality, and had to be justified on health grounds.
Pretty sure that JQA was president in the 1800's.
Jack Houck you're right 1825-1829, but bathing suit weren't actually invented until the middle of the century
Rachel Garber so which one was it 1776 or 1850?
Jack Houck Sorry, that was my mistake, it was in the middle of the 18th century. And of course he was president in the early part of 19th, I don't know why that's a big deal, I know someone who swam nude back in the early 20th (I saw a picture of them in a photo album). On the other hand, he was a kid. Whatevs, not a big deal.
The video editing is just as good as watchmojo. very interesting video!
Truman didn't have a middle name? So what? That doesn't make him weird. His mother probably forgot to fill in the birth certificate in full and then never got around to changing it.
Actually the reason he had no middle name is/was both his grandfathers had S. names. It was as a tribute to both.
Good info. Thanks.
His middle name was shipp it was his grandfathers middle name
Triston Barnett
His two grandfathers were named Solomon and Shipp.
His middle name is simply an S so it can represent both.
Interesting. Thanks for the info.
FYI Vaseline and hair gel pretty much the same thing...
accept hair gel actually dries and vaseline dosent
How was JFK's "taking 12 different medications" the thing that made him weird?
He was addicted to speed. So was Jackie.
So JFK was sippin that dirty sprite? My man! 😂
Harry's S was due to the fact that both of his grandfather's names began with 's', but were not the same name.
Shipp and Solomon
Sad when one cant even pronounce 'Delano' considering FDR is one of our most accomplished and longest serving American President.
Kennedy also suffered from "Horn Dog" disease.
Carter is weird because he saw a ufo?
In 1969 there were a huge number of ufo reports from all sorts of people in many different countries.
there have ufo reports for as long as we had records. but around that time there was a huge spike of sightings. funny how that happens just as atomic energy starts being explored. curious aliens? but yeah world powers were drawn to UFO sightings back then anyway because if they make contact or find a UFO the technological implications would be great and to be honest it probably isn't that crazy that governments take crashed UFOs and keep them secret. what made carter weird was he admitted interest. but if you were a superpower wouldn't you be interested.
Obama makes Carter look like Reagan. I'll vote for Carter before OBAMA if it were possible!
he was right all along this past weeks it was claimed by respectfull of people
You idiots seriously believe that the government is involved with a massive cover up to hide UFOs from the public? First off there is overwhelming evidence they could not exist. Second if the government tries to hide UFOs then why do they spend hundreds of millions of dollars trying to find them?
Riding motorcycle to my mom's house here in L.A last year I looked up and saw a space ship that was not only changing color but disappearing and reappearing. Glad Jimmy Carter saw the same thing I saw just years later.
There's nothing weird about skinny dipping. It's awesome!
The one about petroleum jelly is definitely odd, but Coolidge was considered odd for more than just that.
“Del-lanow” 😂😂😂 I’ve never heard it pronounced like that
Del-a-no
Never heard Delano pronounced like that.
I love to take my cloths off! Even when water isn't involved. Maybe I could be President.
you dont have to be president to enjoy being Naked unless you are ashamed of your body
nothing about Grover Cleveland's secret jaw surgery?
Joel Martin Good point! The operation was done on a boat so that it could be kept secret.
Why is it weird that he didn't want to die from cancer?
his jaw bone can be seen from that surgery at the mutter museum in philadelphia
@@dennissalamone5794 And they fitted him with a rubber prosthetic for his mouth so he wouldn't talk funny. To this very day that surgery is considered a marvel by doctors considering they had to put up with the constant rocking of the boat and it was successful and he remained cancer free.
@Nick Lawson He also had a raccoon in the White House with him. Named Rebecca.
None of this is that weird. I'ma do ALL these things before lunchtime today.
ok go and hang people for $350k before lunch time lmao.
Grover Cleveland took a turn as hangman to relieve his deputies from the stress of this duty. I respect him for this!
Nice to know that I'm both weird and have something in common with John Adams and the two Roosevelt's. I like to skinny dip in my backyard pool (very private) and I'll bet a lot of other you tubers do as well.
I hope this channel grows. I enjoy their videos
Russell Roesner Even worse is calling Theodore 'Teddy' as he actually hated it.
Grover Cleveland, hangman: $20,000 then = $350,000 today. For that kind of money, I'd gladly be a hangman.
Vaseline on your head is slightly weird. I will give you that one.
Will you Calvin Coolage me?
Donald Trump saw this video.
Knowing he wasn't included made him so pissed.
But he's president-elect at the moment.
He's The President Now. and The joke still works.
If Drumpf posts a video on RUclips, how do we give him a tiny thumbs-up?
You should do a video where you do the top 7 presidents who were less weird
Should have stated "future governor and president Jimmy Carter". Carter didn't become governor till '71.
I subscribed
Hearing about what LBJ was like always makes me laugh my ass off.
until you find out he had his own sister killed.
Eartha Kitt wasnt laughing. Thin-skinned LBJ & Lady Bird destroyed her career because she dared speak truth to power.
As for Grover Cleveland's former profession, as Patrick Swayze's Dalton said in "Road House", "It's just a job. It's nothing personal."
I thought Grunge was gonna talk about his love of weird food combinations or something.
you forgot George Washington who smoked weed.
Joey Martin where did you get that fact?
King Swole he grew it but there's no evidence saying that he smoked it
Washington grew hemp for the fibres which are used in the manufacture of rope and sacking.
There is no evidence that he smoked weed and it is most unlikely that he did so or he would not have had the drive or ability to do what he did.
A Freeman Many successful people smoke weed.
weed was smoked way, way, before the 60's! lol
Haha the poop on the pool was fucking hilarious.
What kind of person holds meetings while on the can?
A great one!
Troubled Sole Johnson did
Thank You.
BUSY!
a ver sick one. and Johnson loved his Johnson
Truman decided the ‘s’ was silent when he realised his name sounded like Hairy Ass Truman
John Quincy Adams served in the 1820s. Bathing suits were not invented. It was customary for men to swim naked, if they could swim at all.
Mandy, why DID they invent bathing suits? Wearing clothes while bathing or swimming either one is just plain WEIRD!
To me the weirdest thing about Carter is this: I heard that he had a PhD in nuclear physics, yet he could not pronounce it - he said "nucular". Most universities require you to be able to pronounce your subject of study before they give you a post-grad degree. I'm just saying.
Actually, Carter received a Bachelor's degree. The only president with a PhD was Woodrow Wilson.
😆
That's not true. Carter graduated from the U. S. Naval Academy. And he could pronounce "Nuclear." He just said it with a southern accent so it sounded a bit funny. It was Dubya Bush who couldn't pronounce it.
Carter was/is an honorable man, which is more than you can say for the last 7!!!
@@nadezhdawall-rossi2864…Not true. I can definitely say that about Biden and Obama. And George H. Bush
Vaseline was also used as an alternative to pomade for fixing hair... that could be a less weird reason why he had Vaseline on his head.
I would still like to know if Johnson had anything to do with the assasination of JFK. I have heard several times from different sources that Jackie Kennedy thought so. They were to release the JFK papers recently but did not release most of them.
I believe he did after the fact
i am ur 175 sub love ur vida
On your last fact about Truman's middle name there is a reason why it's "S" he took on the S in honor of his father whom he accredited all he was to him. There you go
I think "silent" letters in names was a common practice around the time Truman was born. My great grandfather's legal name was J.P. and neither J nor P stood for anything.
Before watching video:
I bet one is gonna be Donald Trump
This stuff ain't weird at all
*wrong*
2:05 don’t mess with President Carter, my grandmother went to school with him!
Wouldn't that make Harry S. Truman's parents weird for naming him?
It was a tribute to his grandfathers.
@@mebanks-smith9079 Very true. Each parent wanted to name him after their own father (Shipp and Solomon) so they compromised and just gave him the "S" as a tribute to both!
There's no way that FDR enjoyed skinny dipping. The man was paralyzed.
Mark sharp-wilkinson b8
I can't disagree, but i like the guy and am still happy Clinton lost.
Enjoy your tax cut
Mark sharp-wilkinson And it’s not getting any better. Oprah Winfree and Dwayne Johnson are running...
MAGA!!!
Oprah is waiting for instructions from God. Next time someone criticizes Mike Pence, remind them of Oprah.
Lyndon B Johnson and Hangman Emerick are only the two strangest presidents
Really John I (?) ? You don't know how to pronounce the middle name of FDR?
michelle stein-evers frankl I noticed that too, accent is on first syllable -- DEL uh no
Richard Nixon, our 37th POTUS, was also a weird individual, probably more weird than any of the 7 presidents featured in the video.
Making fun of disabled people is kind of weird...not to mention unacceptable.
funding terrorists and killing children is kind of weird...not to mention unacceptable.
5:22 ROFL! Capping off a discussion on Lyndon Johnson's grossness by showing the 'fake piece of shit' scene from Caddyshack, accompanied by the Jaws theme! This had me laughing for a whole day!
JFK, at least you're suffering is over. Hope you're in heaven.
Air, land_combat 2017 he refused to kill castro
BLUE GAMER What's his death have to do with Castro?!
der Held Europas considering the Cuban Missile crisis, killing Castro would only escalate things further
No, he *IS* in heaven
LBJ was notorious for photos showing him picking up his two hound dogs, Him and Her, by their long ears. He was naturally criticized for it by a lot of animal lovers. It does look cruel, although supposedly it didn't hurt them.
so Kennedy taking medication for his back pains makes him weird?
Cleveland was the Sheriff of Erie County New York, and to the best of my knowledge executed two prisoners, not 'many.'
Truman should not be thought weird because the S which was his middle name meant S.
Trump should be at the top
WHILE YOU SHOULD BE AT THE BOTTOM, OF A 6 FOOT DEEP RECTAGULAR HOLE.
He's more a fucking moron than weird. Oh, wait... the orange spray paint. Yup, he's weird.
Even though JOHN F. KENNDY is still weird he still loves us and we love him to
Rigth? Hit like if rigth
*Kennedy
hilrey would win hands down
Who is "Hilrey"? A figment of your imagination?
If you're going to insult somebody, at least spell their name correctly.
Aaron A THANK THE GOOD LORD!
I love the adult swim references
Grover Cleveland is in the soul of every buffalo wing that every American eats
This vid is very interesting!
Actually the "S" represents two middle names because his parents couldn't whether to put down shippe or Solomon. So they decided on the "S" to represent both.
John Quincy Adams was a good president for sure
What's strange about skinny dipping? Every man I know has done it, many of the women, too. They didn't even have modern swimwear those days.
LBJ was weird. He expected his aides to go skinny dipping with him too in the white house pool!
And exactly WHAT was that at 3:25? That was the most hilarious thing EVER!
