    you talk about J.F.K. but you ever mention his back injury he got in world war II, and I can see why in those days like today they got pills for everything, and that the way it was in his day,having to deal with back pain every day, that's why in the Dallas shooting his wife tried to hold him down with no avail, why the back brace he has been wearing all his life since World War II

      Had back problems ling before WWII. He could not pass the physical to get into any branch of service. When they all turned him down, his daddy called the secretary of the Navy and got him in. Daddy said she needed to serve!. It would not be good when he ran for President if he did not serve, particularly in war time.

    • @pixnstix
      @pixnstix 7 лет назад +13

      FrennisDaemon
      Our public education has glossed-over, or omitted a lot of information on Roosevelt over the years. I suggest you read: "The Forgotten Man," by Amity Shlaes as well as "New Deal or Raw Deal," by Burton Folsom, Jr.
      FDR did not get us out of the Great Depression. The economy was actually recovering in 1933 (when he was taking office), but took a nose-dive thereafter, under his policies. The only signs of recovery of the economy during his term was after he got us into war with Germany and Japan, and the resulting massive, massive incursion of debt for the build up of war materials
      Also, FDR was elected and reelected 3 times, in great part, due to petty politics (Hoover's ham-fisted dealing with the Bonus Army encampment in Washington, and a refusal to repeal the 18th Amendment) and, as we see today John McCain, Mitt Romney and Hillary Clinton, his opponents were horrible candidates.
      As for WWII, ask yourself why we got involved in the first place in a war 6,000 miles away, started by European economic-powerhouses Great Britain and France against a resurging Germany, which, in concert with the USSR, invaded and divided an aggressive Poland. Read: "1939- The War That Had Many Fathers," by Gerd Schultze-Rhonholf. Germany never declared war on any countries during WWII, except the United States. Why?
      I like to be fully-informed before I start hero-worshipping. FDR was no hero and his policies have hurt this and other countries.

      I don't think that reading 2 books by libertarians, who clearly have an agenda, is going to help anyone. If you want to feel a certain way about history, you can find plenty of material to support your position. I know plenty about the Roosevelt family, and no, it's not all from "public education".
      I always enjoy discussions where one person assumes that they are, not only right, but that the other individual has been misinformed about a particular subject. I mean, clearly you know better than I do, right? I mean, getting your information from right-leaning authors who hate rules, regulations, and government in general, isn't in any way going to color your opinion in any way, right?
      And finally, ending on a completely condiscending tone really is the icing on the cake. Thank-you for your thoughtful reading suggestions, and not-at-all agenda-fueled interpretation of history.

    • @pixnstix
      @pixnstix 7 лет назад +6

      FrennisDaemon
      The last line was not meant to being condescending nor was it directed to you, but to the millions who have been brainwashed into worshiping the undeserving FDR. However, it is apparent that FDR is a god to you, which is sad. Rather than consider an opposing view, you launch into name calling.
      Do yourself a favor and actually read those books rather than jump to the conclusion that since they counter conventional thought that they are right-wing or libertarian propaganda. They are highly-rated for a reason.
      Anyway, now that Christmas break is over, get back to school and don't let your teachers bully you into believing false and biased history. The hope for America is that kids like you think outside the box and that when you do graduate from high School that you will be an independent thinker. Good luck!

      What do you want? He's from Texas. Nuff said. But regarding the Kennedy's, yes, I have read that from several different sources as well. The only reason they put Johnson on the ticket was to get southern votes Also, Johnson, who ran in the primaries, thought HE deserved to be president and he was right! LBJ's entire life was politics. He ate, slept and breathed it. And he was GOOD at it and had more experience than JFK. Kennedy had a reputation as a playboy who didn't care and didn't show up half the time when he was in Congress. But old Joe as he said in his own words, packaged Jack and sold him like soap flakes.

    • @johncronin9540
      @johncronin9540 7 лет назад +15

      Frances Van Siclen No, he was very much a New Deal liberal, as was Eisenhower, though at that time, the Republican Party was nowhere nearly as conservative as today.
      The Civil Rights Act passed in 1964 was Kennedy's Bill, but passed after his death, by Johnson, who was a master at getting Congress to pass legislation (no other President comes close). Medicare was a Kennedy bill also, that was passed under Johnson. I think Kennedy's tragic death also helped get some of this legislation passed.
      He was an ardent Cold Warrior, but both parties were at the time. I do think that the Cuban Missile Crisis caused him to rethink the whole issue, and he did negotiated the Nuclear Test Ban Treaty, which banned any above ground nuclear tests. Those tests put a lot of fallout into the atmosphere -- which had global effects. Who knows how many people were exposed to radiation from the fallout from those tests.
      His health ultimately caught up with him when he was assassinated. When first shot, Governor Connolly slumped down in his seat. JFK, struck by the same bullet, couldn't have slumped in the seat even if he tried to. He was wearing a complicated back brace, used for his chronic back problems, was like a very tight corset, which kept him in an upright position, as it went as high as his torso. That kept him exposed to the fatal shot.

    As for Truman only having a middle initial rather than a name, apparently there was dispute between his parents as to use the middle name of two different relatives both of whose names began with "S". So the compromise was just to give him the middle initial "S".

  • @ChiSportsNut18

    Kennedy shared his health issues with other family members. Colitis commonly coincides with pituitary tumors, which is what was causing his Addison's disease. Pain medications often seem weak with put tumors, though we don't know exactly why. JFK is a distant cousin in my family tree and you can see where pituitary tumors affected members in each generation. I have one, but I have a different illness that affects my cortisol levels. Addison's makes your body unable to produce enough cortisol, and Cushing's (what I have) causes you to produce way too much. Even very strong opiates don't affect my pain the way they should. He was probably able to take 10 times the normal dose and still drive a car with no ill effects. It's very bothersome.

      there have ufo reports for as long as we had records. but around that time there was a huge spike of sightings. funny how that happens just as atomic energy starts being explored. curious aliens? but yeah world powers were drawn to UFO sightings back then anyway because if they make contact or find a UFO the technological implications would be great and to be honest it probably isn't that crazy that governments take crashed UFOs and keep them secret. what made carter weird was he admitted interest. but if you were a superpower wouldn't you be interested.

His middle name is pronounced DEL A NO. Not DEL ON OH. If you are serious about voice overs, do your homework. I've noticed that very man well spoken narrators on amature voice overs on youtube screw up the pronunciation of words often....I'd say nearly 100% of the time. Richard Nixon, our 37th POTUS, was also a weird individual, probably more weird than any of the 7 presidents featured in the video.
    He couldn't make small talk with the ordinary citizens of America; he was very unmechanical and had to be taught on how to operate a simple tape recorder; and he would stroll on the beach dressed in slacks, dress shoes, and wearing a windbreaker.
    Unlike the 7 presidents featured, Nixon would not sleep in the same bedroom with his wife. He and Pat Nixon had a somewhat distant relationship and they would only talk to each other when they were getting off Air Force One, just for show. There was very little conversation.
    His Chief Of Staff, Bob Haldeman, once said that Nixon was the strangest man he had ever met and shook hands with him only once, as he was getting fired for his involvement in the Watergate affair .
