I truly was amazed when a dear friend 40 years my senior gave me his amazing stamps in envelopes not looked up...I did a few and came back to our daily coffee at a special make friends coffee shop and brought them back and said these our for your kids..he was surprised too..miss him..WWII POW..great man.
I'm a stamp dealer and collector and you should definitely find a local stamp dealer to have the $2.60 Graf Zeppelin stamps checked out. if genuine (and in good condition) they are worth good money. Unfortunately there are forgeries of this issue around and it's impossible to tell for sure if they're ok from the video, all the other stamps are virtually worthless (a cent or 2 each at the most) although the 1c green marked at $190 on the glassine bag may be some sort of scarcer variety of the basic stamp, so I'd get that checked out too just in case - hope this helps!
My mom too. She would just keep getting them and then sit us kids down with the stamps and booklets and say 'get to work filling those, I want a blender' (or whatever).
That first airmail stamp you show of the Graf Zeppelin can be worth $1000 + if it is mint condition with gum and no hinge traces, even used ones go for hundreds
You sweet man. They are Crochet HOOKS and Knitting NEEDLES. It's like saying gasoline and diesel fuel are the same. To some they may seem the same but they are very different, lol. No worries, I still love ya.
The funny-looking black cube with the lens in it, in front of the basket, is a stamp/coin magnifier..... And I agree with Kathy Mesimer -- *do not* put the stamps into auction-- instead locate a true philatelist to get fair market value!! Blessed Be, & Peace!
Wow! My father in law sold stamps all his life. These stamps are valuable and dont touch them with your hands. Finger oils are damaging so a special tweezer is used with custom flat tips. The stamp listed is probably right and the page numbers are from the stamp dealers price guide. Stamp prices go up and down similar to stock market. Those are old! Get them appraised ASAP. Good luck.
Hi Jason my husband is a stamp collector and some of them might be quite valuable. Don't know much about USA but they usually worth more in mint condition. Good luck from Africa.
First, your "$190.00 stamp" will only be a possible rarity, because is will be in the very fine details to make it a valuable rarity. Already the stamp's value is gravely diminished due to what appeared to be a damaged stamp with a huge thin as evidenced with that "white spot" over the right "2" on the front. Second, the $2.60 Zeppelin is the most valuable of the lot (the bigger one, not the tiny which is a fake, because no Zepps where issued that small) if the stamp is not a fake and with no damage. Your Zepp appeared to be unused, and that would have additional premium. The book/catalog value of this stamp would be several hundred dollars. Third, all other stamps appeared to be commons and would have very little value, but would be a very nice addition to a beginner collector, To put in perspective, in terms of market value, each the glassine envelope is worth more than the stamp that it is stored. Your vid did get me excited when I saw that you have a Zepp in your purchase. Congrats to you for a potential valuable find.
@@MANVSMYSTERY .....If the Zepp stamp is authentic, it will have a very high book/catalog value in the hundreds of dollars if it does not have flaws or damage. Please be advised should you sell, it will have a fraction of what is the book/catalog (google "C-15" stamp value). Still it is a stamp that should bring some premium in the stamp market. The vast majority of stamp collectors do not have a C-15 Zepp in their collection.
As a reseller and financial guy, as well as a stamp collector, most cancelled stamps even from pre 1900 have minimal value. Mint with no hinges are the most valuable, but most of the ones you are showing do not have much value. The zeppelins in the beginning if mint may have the most value for you as they are airmail stamps. A lot of those shown are from the presidential series which go all the way up to a $5 stamp. Also some of the cancelled ones are revenue stamps and again mint with no hinges are the most valuable.
The stamps in the first half or so were of more value. Some of the newer ones, toward the end, are basically worthless. Really glad they didn't get thrown out by mistake. :)
I recently looked at a bunch of stamps from the 30s...there was unused prexie coil-strips of 5 that catalogue for $600.00 but now worthless because moisture had glued them all together inside one of those "glassine" envelopes. Find a collector you trust or go see a stamp dealer. Be aware that dealers usually pay 10-25% of catalogue value. Or put the bunch on Ebay with pictures and see how it goes.
@3:16 I bet you shaking! These are very valuable stamps! Be sure I'll let a more knowledgeable guy, than me, know about these stamps you have and the auction! You would make more money to put them into a auction that specializes in stamps!
send the stamps to "the auction professor" on youtube, Don in Ohio, he is a ebayer/reseller. he is an rare stamp expert, you may have to pay him something, but this guy is the real deal, he can tell you what you got.
Wow...all the treasures that you have , you should be able to sell lots of crafting , crochet , sewing stuff. Watch out...them crafters can be fierce ! Lol . The heart rings could be interchangeable . Can't wait till the auction...did you see what the hales ?..it was beat the clock.
You will be surprised to find that the high value Zeps you have catalog over $1,000 in mint not hinged condition. Need to send them in for authentication. There is a rare 1 cent Franklin that catalogs over $1,000 it is Scott Number 594. If it is 594 then it needs authentication. I would hold back on auctioning those till later. The rest of the US are common.
Get them appraised don’t listen to everybody on here. And look for marbles they will blow your mind old marbles if right ones are worth up to hundreds Even thousands each. Mind blowing
Yes I used to run a shop and I’m telling you Jason some stamps are worth a fortune you would be surprised and it looks like you hit the motherload for real you need to get them appraised
Someone told me to check out your video. The only one that I see that has value is C15 the Graf Zeppelin stamp. Other than that the rest look to carry no real value. One may be a variety, but without seeing it in person I can't say. Don't listen to those telling you not to list them online. Even though that one carries a high value they will still sell well on eBay or on Hip. A dealer will rip you off faster than eBay. Been into stamps for 40 years.
I just checked eBay there is one listed now if the Graf Zeppelin that looks just like yours same condition for $775 and used on an envelope for like $270. Sold comps like $400-600. You scored for sure 😁
Those Graf Zeppelin stamps, if not used, are worth big money! Most people didn't have a lot of money for stamps in 1930. Get them checked out or do some internet searches yourself.
S&H started to go downhill in the 1970s and was eventually purchased by a holding company which since 2000 has been offering "greenpoints.'' You can redeem your old green stamps one-to-one for greenpoints, which can be used to get a gift card or gift certificate. You can get the details at greenpoints.com
OK, I'm just a average collector so all I can do is share the little I know. Those Zepplin stamps could be worth something, depending on the condition and what else is in that envelope. In what is referred to as "Mint Never Hinged" That stamp alone has a catalog value of $775 and the set of 3 (Scott Catalog #C13 to #C15) is worth $1525 - but that is catalog value which is always an inflated number. Even so they could be worth quite a bit depending on condition. Best case scenario, if the stamps are in awesome condition you may get $700-$800. If they're stuck together and damaged expect much, much less. The other one of interest is, of course that 1-cent Ben Franklin. There are a few different printings. I'm assuming, with a note of $190 it may be Scott #578. That price, I suspect, is again the catalog value. It may be worth it to have that one looked at too. The only other ones that would interest me are that 5 cent "inter-something exchange" and the other 1-cent revenue. I have no idea about those. Everything else, I'm afraid, is pretty common. Unless I'm missing something, you could get all those in $2 stamp grab-bag on Ebay. But that envelope with the $2.60 Zepplin just might be worth looking into.
I might be wrong but if I remember correctly the one that have been used aren’t as valuable but still a great find. I still want a price on your crochet stuff.
Almost all of those stamps are very common, not worth anything, as millions were made and used back when people actually wrote to one another. As to the few that might be worth something, a general rule of thumb is you can expect ten percent of the Scott catalog value unless they are exceptionally well centered and complete. The biggest challenge these days is finding a buyer as stamp collecting just isn't popular any more.
See if you have a stamp club near you. I’m sure folks there could help you narrow down what is common and what is worth having checked out - or expertises. You pay a fee for each stamp expertised, so no sense in paying for the common lower value ones to be checked. American Philatelic Society - APS (Stamps.org) should be able to help provide a list of stamp clubs in your area to contact. They also do authentication and expertising. There can be a half dozen attributes about a stamp that differentiate two that may look identical. Work with someone that can do this and not charge a pile of cash. Why I’d check local stamp clubs. Some folks calling themselves dealers and long time collectors above missed the fact that a couple of those envelopes with a Scott Catalog Number, the number was for a completely different stamp. Nothing to do with content of the envelope. The Graf Zeppelin Stamps are your largest potential prize if they truly are original. Start with that small subset. A few buck to authenticate or expertise one of those will give you a clue as to real or not. Good luck, and have fun.
do not touch stamps with bare fingers. Use special stamp tweezers so as not to damage the stamp edges. Although, as you have read already. These are used stamps and many of them were printed, so aren't very valuable.
Boy if those stamps were unused they would be worth a mint!! A few may still be worth some money. Just depends how rare they are and or how old they are. Good luck...I would find an expert on those stamps before I did anything with them. Some can be worth thousands.
Dude you need to look up stamps online, the grand zeppelin ranges from 4000 up to 10000 asking price from stamp dealer. The Franklin is 400 and up. Go online. Don't sell them cheap it looks like good opportunity to hit a lick.
Those stamps are worth a lot of money. I've done a lot of research on stamps because I came into some about a year ago and a lot of those that you have are worth a lot of money
I'm a big time collector of Haitian stamps, not US stamps but I do know how to determine the values of stamps. The pile that you finished with on the right does not have any great value, however the pile on the left is another story. Remember that how evenly centered the image is goes a long way to determining value so you are looking for 4 even margins. I can't tell if the stamps are new or used but the first stamp, US Scott #C15 with good margins in mint condition is worth about $700.00 (about 1/2 that if used). If the second package contains the rest of the set (as I suspect) i.e. Scott #C13, C14 and C15 the whole set is worth about $1500 new and about $1000 used. Take them out of the package using tweezers and let me see them. Look up US zeppelin set C13 - C15 on eBay. The best place to sell them.
The one cent Franklin at $190, from the video, looks to be damaged. But these stamps really need a specialist to look at them as they can be worth less than a dollar to over $3000 depending on the printing, perfs, etc. Also on the package the amount's you see are often "catalog value" taken from the Scott Stamp Catalog and generally stamps sell at 5-10% of catalog value.
If the Zeppelins are real you're on a winner. All the others, I don't know they're all small denominations. However, they could be what we call varieties, so don't go looking them up in a standard catalogue. Regard them like the inverted 'Jenny'. I've a suspicion that they are varieties otherwise they have no place with the Zeppelins.
The Zeps are worth some money. 1 looks mint, a few used. Mint in unhinged is possible $1,000 or so. The other used Zeps will be in the 100s. It will depend on their overall condition, centering and the gum condition on the reverse side. The couple revenues are interesting, but not worth a lot. The rest are fairly common and not worth anything really. The 1cent Franklin will have to be identified. There are valuable issues of that kind. But they are tough to tell from one another and require a real pro to ID them in some cases.
I hate o say it, but I think you should safely assume the grafs are fake. They were used in an extremely limited fashion (air mail the northeast and germany) - they have a low population which is why they have a high value compared to those that were used for traditional aviation mail (both domestic and international). The reason I think they’re fake is because they have always been valuable and never took the dip that everything else did when the market crashed in the 70s-80s. The chance they would be in such a meager collection is nearly nonexistent; it’s possible they were inherited, but they would have been sold long ago. You can send one in for expertization, but I wouldn’t waste the money. You can sell them on eBay regardless for 10-35 each as proxies or placeholders for collections. Everything else is worthless. If you really want to find out if they’re real take them to your local philatelic museum (or society); they’re volunteers and will be honest- Don’t take them to a dealer; even if they’re real they’ll say they’re fake but offer to take them off of your hands to sell as proxies
When you have the Zeppelin appraised and they tell you that it is faulty, they will be telling you the truth. It looks to have missing perforations. This GREATLY affects values of collector stamps. The Zeppelin is still a great find and you are to be congratulated, just don't expect anything close to catalog value. (probably around 20%)
Hi, Excellent find. Please find a local stamp expert that can give you a professional opinion. I would get at lease 2 opinions. You could be sitting on a nice find. Take your time on this one. Lmk
Yup, those zeppelin stamps if they are not reproductions are worth a lot of money, uncanceled are worth the most but even the canceled ones are very good... and you had ser real of them.
I look forward to your live auction :) I will probably see things that i'd love to bid on, but it seems most of the live ones i've seen, only accept paypal or venmo and i can't do either of those, but it will be fun to watch! :)
@@MANVSMYSTERY understandable, that way all parties are as protected as possible. I just don't have a bank account so i can't do paypal. I used to have one, but i couldn't afford to even stick $10 in there to pay the acct fees so they closed it. Come to think of it, i don't really have the money to bid on anything either LOL so, i guess that worked out ;)
@@MANVSMYSTERY I'll be there :) I love your videos and the live auctions are fun to watch :) although....if you auction sterling silver jewelry, i may cry because i can't bid (i'd eat ramen for the rest of the month for sterling ;) )
Outside of the zeps everything else is very cheap. One or two cents each but your cost of handling is much more than that. Hard to believe that Zepplin stamps are real.
If you still have the stamps I would suggest that you contact a company that is always looking for consignment www.ha.com and they will authenticate them to tell you if there real or not I have a lot of those stamps already but you have a lot of used stamps cause they are cancelled but some stuff for sure send in but can I ask you how do you sell on RUclips
You were wise to not take them from the envelopes. Value depends on condition, rarity, and whether or not they are postmarked and free from the envelope. Definitely, take them to a stamp dealer. Selling to him would be better than selling them yourself.
Those 4 digit numbers written on some of them are called Scott Numbers and that is a numbering system to ID every stamp. Don’t throw them in an auction... take a few minutes and google them. Otherwise yer just throwing money away.
Oh, you will find out the strength of the crazy of vintage sewing/beading/knitting/crochet community. Please separate exclusively crochet needle/books from the knitting - many of us do only one of those. Also, natural fiber or blend yarn vs acrylic/nylon yarn - also deeply divided camps. For example, I crochet with natural fiber or blend yarns only. Other people only use synthetics and hate wool. But I'm not that picky when it comes to vintage/antique ephemera and accessories. My PayPal account is hurting already... 🤣
Most of these stamps are common and only worth pennies but some may be valuable. Find a knowledgeable collector or local stamp club to help you out. Going to the library to find a Scott catalog or checking online (like Ebay) is a big mistake because condition really, really matters. Also, some common stamps have valuable varieties like different perforations on the sides or watermarks in the paper and it takes some knowledge to sort them out. Plus there are many sellers on Ebay that way overprice common stamps because they don't know any better. When in doubt, get expert help.
I truly was amazed when a dear friend 40 years my senior gave me his amazing stamps in envelopes not looked up...I did a few and came back to our daily coffee at a special make friends coffee shop and brought them back and said these our for your kids..he was surprised too..miss him..WWII POW..great man.

I know stamps are worth money. Great find!

❤️
Do you still have these us stamps?
Boy if those stamps were unused they would be worth a mint!! A few may still be worth some money. Just depends how rare they are and or how old they are. Good luck...I would find an expert on those stamps before I did anything with them. Some can be worth thousands.
Dude you need to look up stamps online, the grand zeppelin ranges from 4000 up to 10000 asking price from stamp dealer. The Franklin is 400 and up. Go online. Don't sell them cheap it looks like good opportunity to hit a lick.
Heads up on the Wooden spools of thread, for they do not make them any longer.
BLIMPS ARE WORTH A MINT!! THE FRANKLIN IS WORTH 500.00 IF YOU ONLY DID YOUR RESEARCH AND KNEW WHAT TO LOOK FOR,
Benjamin Franklin would be rolling over his grave if he knew he went from $100 Bill to a one cent stamp. Unless it’s worth a lot. 🙏😂💕
Never mind. I think it’s worth a pretty penny! 🎉
Yes, I had collected they maybe worth alot.
Invest in a jewlers loop. Better on your eyes. There is a rare 1 cent stamp worth 25 thousand. I would research before ever selling collections.
Definitely find a stamp collector who can advise you on their worth, even if you have to pay them.
Hi,
Excellent find.

Go to Mystic stamp Co will send you free catalog to check
Hello sir💕 mam💓💓💓
I look forward to your live auction :) I will probably see things that i'd love to bid on, but it seems most of the live ones i've seen, only accept paypal or venmo and i can't do either of those, but it will be fun to watch! :)
Yeah, it'll be PayPal 😟
@@MANVSMYSTERY understandable, that way all parties are as protected as possible. I just don't have a bank account so i can't do paypal. I used to have one, but i couldn't afford to even stick $10 in there to pay the acct fees so they closed it. Come to think of it, i don't really have the money to bid on anything either LOL so, i guess that worked out ;)
Would sure love to have your company nonetheless!!
I'm not expecting them to be real. Gonna get em checked out by a local stamp dealer!
I just checked e bay green franklin 1cent =lots of money holy molie good on ya bud
How does PayPal work
Jason you EVER need stamps appraised or looked at, plz contact me for assistance.
Please email me at thrifttraderofficial@gmail.com and I'll send close-ups of the zeps to you! Thanks for all your help!
🙋💖🤗👍👍👍
The Graf Zeppelin stamps are valuable if they are not fakes (and there were many fakes). The used stamps are not worth much.
Thank you for this advice!!
