There is a great secret that this White Les Paul studio wants to share with YOU and only YOU and whoever you share this video to! People love the early 90s studios for their fretboards, but did you know most white finished guitars that Gibson built until 2011 also had them? The black ebony fingerboards just pair better with the finish overall. If you like ebony fretboard, it's definitely a good idea to seek out the model you're looking for in WHITE. As you just may find the ebony you're looking for... (not always though)
I hope you enjoyed the Zelda 1 (and 2's end screen) animation - it was fun to make, but took forever. White Les Paul Studios are very nice looking guitars. This one has an AMAZING tone to it. Very nice cleans and a really woody distorted sound. I was blown away when editing this one. Some of the distortion got a bit muddy, but with the right songs, it wouldn't have sounded like that haha

The ebony fretboard was precisely the reason I chose the alpine white on the les Paul studio back in 2005. I was 16 back at that time. And I still have that guitar 16 years later. And still love it.
Ebony fretboard was 1 of my desires of a Les Paul when I was shopping used guitars. I ended up getting a 97 ebony/ gold trim Studio for $800. Came with 496/500 pups, straplocks, and a chainsaw case. 12 yrs ago. Since then I've replaced things that should be upgraded from a Studio. Now it's great and I gotta get famous so they can make a signature model. L O L . Guess I'm full of it on that comment.
Yes i just picked up a 2010 Alpine white Gibson Les Paul Studio from a pawn shop near me!
Great guitars!
i've learned so much on this channel, it's unbelievable, you are really awesome , you deserve way more subscribers
Yessss my all time favorite guitar... well, Arctic white Les Pauls. Although I think I want a buckethead.
Bought my first Les Paul a few days ago :)
What model is it?
You put so much time and effort into your videos, you deserve more views and subscribers for the amount of work you put into your channel.
Nicholas Weda Not THAT much effort seeing as he spelled “secretly” wrong (like “secretely”) in big letters in the video. 😛
David Burke so what not every one has a PhD in grammar
Your an idiot yeah big secret. Typical news bait bullshit tittle ooooo big secret your so smart....dumbass
but hes also a huge annoying nerd and calls me a troglodite
@@allmostbrothers damn dude. It's been three years. Are you over it yet?
These times work so much better to upload! Now I can go to bed early! Cheers bro!
the intro's are the thing i look forward to the most in these videos
I own a 89 Lp Studio it weighs in at a little over 10lbs. I love it!! I oil the fret board once a year and the Alpine white is now bone colored and looks awesome.. LOUDLOVE
I own a 2006 ive been rocking it since 2009. starting to yellow!
You have me stoked Trogly, it's a pleasure watching you grow as a musician :) love watching your content because I've always been a Gibson fan boy and it's great learning from your videos, but it's even better watching your skill as a guitarist grow. 🤘🏽
I wish that you didn't tell everyone ! Still love your vids mate ! One of my favourite channels for sure !
My first "good" guitar is a 2006 white les paul studio. I didn't realize at first it has a ebony fret board but I really got use to the sound and feel. I always thought these where secret gems. Glad someone agrees
THIS is awesome in appearance, specs and sound. I love it!
I always favored the white Studios too but even after all these years I never noticed the ebony fretboards
Thanks another fun and informative video, love the channel, I hang out with my pug and we check it out everyday.
That thing is beautiful. Would love to own it if I could afford it. Mega props for busting out some stuff from The Sword. More people should know them.
Just bought one today, fucking pleasure to play on
@@edward135798642 i play a squier. Had eyes on this one. U think i should go for it?
Dude! Super congrats on the new family member!
That’s the one I have. I got it in the pawn shop and someone put EMG pickups on it. I wish they kept the original pickups on it.
From what I was told, the arctic white Gibsons were given an ebony board, not for looks, but because the rosewood would bleed into the paint.
John Taylor how does rosewood bleed into the paint? I'm actually intrigued :)
Beautiful guitar, i would rock it!
My very first Gibson! a 1996 LP Studio White Gold Hardware and Ebony board. Still have it. Now aged to a yellow color
That’s one really nice guitar, I just love the vibe of it.
that LP is a beauty...sounds incredible....I really like the middle position the 57 and the 490r sound wonderful 2get her..Your kinda goofy...but I like you...been watching you for bout 2 or 3 yrs...you've grown in your knowledge of Gibson's...taught and showed me some things and hell I know everything ...dammy day...oh and your playing has improved really el mucho...your dam good player now....much respect to you sir..
That would perfectly complement my '93 Black LP Studio with P-90s!
I remember looking at Musician Friends catalogs back in 2006 and later on when I was getting in guitars. Man those were great guitars coming out of that time period, particularly from Gibson. They definitely have held their value and may even increased from original selling price according to some sellers in Reverb.
I also replaced those modern tone knobs on mine with the classic style black ones.
Great video and nice looking guitar. I kinda dig the steampunk-look of the locking tuners.
I have an 07 in classic white with ebony board, but it has chrome and is heavily chambered. The price was right and it really grew on me. Plays and sounds really well (and weighs less than my Junior!).
Just inherited one of these, not sure from which year, but I have fallen in love with it
The first and fifth numbers in the SN should give you the year
The ebony board looks awesome on white.
I have a white 06 with the ebony board. It is a great guitar.
I have this exact guitar. I bought it refurbished about 10 years ago for $800. I’ve played it almost every day since.
Quality going up 👌
So informative and entertaining🤘
Love that LP and your videos. Great quality!
In this video I learned: TROGLY'S GOT KIDS!!! Great looking kids, Trog!
I love the „cooking” sounds that you make on the distorted parts with the open strings. It may be a result of sloppy playing but I think it sounds great!
Trogly your babies are so cute! That was a sweet picture. That guitar is sweet too. I'd rock it.
I have that same white Studio from 2005 with the Ebony board. I swapped the gold out with black hardware. I had a 2010 white Studio that I swapped the hardware from and then sold the 2010.
i have one of these was going to sell it to a guy but he was saying it was a fake so i just laughed and walked away love the channel thank you
When a guy asked me if I would be interested in his Les Paul (same as the one in this video) I thought it was fake too. I made the guy leave the guitar with me for almost a month before I was convinced it was real. Then I bought for $500 and a Epiphone Les Paul (the little kind) in trade. I got the Epiphone for $100 so I got a Les Paul Studio with Ebony fretboard, brand new with hot pickups and all the showroom tags and the White fur case for the awesome price of $600!
The backwards V balances very well when played sitting down & doesn't slide off
Sweet. I had a White Epiphone P90 les Paul special I Sold. I Want Her Back.
Hahaha, your video's are getting funnier and funner every time, thank you!
I rescued one of those (i very beat up pawn shop purchase) and had to refret it,,,,definitely had an ebony fret board
when selling it a couple of years later I had some guy trying to tell me something like "that can't be an ebony fret board blah blah blah " too bad it's not a little more rare :) love how the alpine white turns yellow\cream thanks for sharing dude
Yes I have a 2005 Gibson SG special it also has a full gloss which is nice in wine red Beautiful Finish but the neck seems to be very similar it's sort of like in between the fat fifties and the slim 60s and it's very comfortable
My newly acquired '93 is an instrument of pleasure!
I had one of these, it was awesome!
I’ve got a 2011 LP Studio in Alpine White with an ebony board. It was built in Feb 2011.
I got one of these today and immediately recognized the dark ebony fingerboard
That’s more like it, yes I would rock this Guitar.
I would rock it ! The white is ageing nicely ...have all the gold parts been replaced? Looks newer to me considering the played in patina & dings eleswhere ??
I love that guitar. I have to 2014 studio. I'm backwards, I play my Standard on stage. My Studio is like those comfy weekend shoes I blue jeans. It is very nice and fits me. Honey Burst is nice with the rose wood and I did locking tuners on most of my guitars.
it's for this kind of info that i like this channel
Trogly, why is the area at 12:24 between the neck and body so square on all gibsons? Why dont they make it flush?
Ever played a 2005 metallic limited run studio? Also has ebony fretboard but has metallic paint. Not weight relieved 50s neck
None of my Gibson guitars have ebony fretboards. However, I have ebony in other guitar fretboards, such as the 2016 Breedlove Oregon Concert Ltd., 2016 Taylor T5z Classic Mahogany Acoustic/Electric, Ernie Ball Music Man 2016 John Petrucci JP6 Starry Night PDN Exclusive Limited Edition, and a 2015 Ibanez Gary Willis Signature GWB35 5-String Fretless Bass.
As for Rosewood, I don't get the deal with that, either. I have a Ernie Ball Music Man 2016 St. Vincent Signature that has a Rosewood fretboard, as well as a Rosewood neck and headstock. These days, they make them with figured maple, so I wonder how this one would do in the market in the future.
Love the videos! Have you ever tried Renaissance Wax on those sweat stains? It has worked well for me on my Goldtop.
Thats so nice, definitely would rock
JUST GOT MY 05 STUDIO PLUS IN THE MAIL TODAY!!....HHHHHHHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAPPPPPPPPPPPYYYYYYY
Hey Austin, you know anything about the Charvel cds series from the 90s?
i have a white with gold hardware epi les paul style from the early 90s and it has a ebony fretboard which is a lovely contrast to the white, i love the binding, dont dig the lighter weight, no binding body as much.
We have a local used guitar house ( it's a house at a crossroads ) called crossed. In around 03-04 they had a 94 white one like this gold hardware, ebony board .( I still think of that guitar ,) . The factory pick ups were definitely hot ,I always regretted not buying it I liked the neck at that time when I was still learning neck shapes.(So many shapes) I think it finally sold at The Great American guutar show gig in Pennsylvania.. I use to like those shows they we're the best thing ever but now I realise with a dealer like you if any concerns they can be addressed ,there it's a cash carry your stuck with it kinda gig.
I want it! I've been looking for a white studio! Ya know, a few months back I was kind of talking trash about the studio models, but then you Austin made some very good points about them and in the last few weeks I've purchased 3 Studio models, I love them! But I will tell ya something, size does make a difference!! lol, I was messing around last night and jamming out to some classic rock tunes. I was playing my red studio with S.D. pickups, sounded great! Then I plugged in my green and black one with DiMarzio's, sounded awesome, then I plugged in my Sully Erna studio with the single 57 classic - oh dear God!! Same settings as the other guitars but what a difference! The sustain on that thing is phenomenal and the lows just pound you in the chest!! That studio is bigger bodied than the other ones, it measures a full 2 inches thick and has a bigger profile neck, that has to be the difference because I plugged in that studio I bought from you Austin a couple of week ago and it has the 57's in it as well and it sounded about like the first two, which is still great but not even close to that Sully Erna!! Anyway, I look forward to my new white arrival!!
I bought one after watch this video🙂 ...and yes,I changed the tuners😎
What's you opinion of the 2001 line of Les paul studios? My wife bought me one in wine red for Christmas. Should be here tomorrow.
The Sword!!! Love the color, hate gold hardware.
Man you must know how to make 8-bit games or be some sort of web/game designer. But I gotta say you’re great at it man.
I have a wine red 2005 studio. Gold hardware. What year did coil tapping start? I read 2012.
I havent pulled the pickups out of this yet to see what they are. What came standard in the 2005 studio? I have read burstbuckers from one source and 490/498 in a second source. Just so I know when I pull mine if they are original.
I have that exact one, but 2010. Never knew it was ebony. AWESOME! Thanks Trogly
I have this guitar in “classic white” which is the slightly creamy white with chrome hardware rather than gold. Trogly, do you know if the trap inlays are real mother of pearl? It hard to find the specs. Also, I agree that the white models are notably upscale compared their red and black contemporaries.
I would really love to see a review a white Gibson SG with a Ebony fret board board 🎸🎸
ruclips.net/video/ay-7BsE51ME/видео.html
Hey thanks bro 🎸🎸 I really appreciate the reply ; love that guitar
Friend o mine has a late 90s studio white ,gold hardware n i think ebony board, i love it ,sounds great , but he wont sell it, iv tried n tried . So is he really my friend ??? I m kidding if i was his friend mayb id stop buggin him to sell it.LOL
Sold already!!! Dang
Freya is a kickass tune.
How bout doing some Epiphone Les Paul Studio Deluxe reviews???
Hey thanks for this video. I'm gonna get myself one.
My 2005 LP studio sounds great too. Original parts though. Not a huge fan of the Klusen tuners it came with, but they work ok.
I had a 92 studio white with ebony fretboard. One of the best playing guitars I ever had. It got stolen unfortunately. Heartbreaker!
I have a 93 wine red it's a great guitar
I'd have it
I mean I'd Rock it!
Hahahahahahhaha! I absolutely love your videos, your humor etc. thank you for your channel!
Hi there can you help me out with some info? I want to buy a black beauty 3 pu but with ebony in good condition the prices vary a lot im sort of in the 4-5,000 grand price range how much would be too much to pay? Your show is A1. Thank you 🙏
Those can be tricky to find at decent prices. If you're patient with $3,500-$4,500, you should be able to find one.
The Trogly's Guitar Show thanks a lot for the reply really appreciated. I’m always on the look out just wanted to know so I don’t pay way too much .. cheers
Did these have the steel plate harness and Gibson pots?
The reason I became obsessed with having a Les Paul with an ebony fret board. And just as I was giving up on having one. I bought my 2016 Studio Faded T. Two months later a 1993 in wine red showed up . And I have it. :-)
I had a 90s White studio u miss it so much but I had to pay bills for my family and had to sell it. Good decision at the time but now I'm utterly gutted, sold that and my palmbay cyclone p7 😞😞😞😞
A friend of mine has an early to mid 2010s white LP Studio, I've never given any thought to what the fretboard is made from...guess I'll have to look, huh?
I would love to have you review a very played Stratocaster that lost its owner after 30 years on the road Rory Gallaghers Strat. The finish is nearly gone.
Love the guitar. Maybe next time the guitar community should speak up when an American guitar company gets abused instead of ringing them into the ground and kicking them while they’re down? Okay I’m getting of my soap box now. I can never decide what finish my favorite les Paul is. I liked the classic line allot in the sea foam green. And that white looks amazing with its ebony fretboard and sounds amazing.
I purchased a 2008 Studio in cream and the fretboard is extremely dark could it be ebony?
Whats the market price for this guitar now??
Hey! I’m looking to start saving up for a new Flying V or explorer do you think it’s worth it
Try to find a mid 2000s example 👍
get a used one
Explorer all the way
Faded Flying Vs are a terrific value for the money. $550-$800 should get you one
I have a 1991 just like that one in extremely good condition
A little off on The Sword covers bro but still awesome to know ur a fan of theirs.
Don't know why I'd tell you this,... Just feelin like you have your head on right and I'm a fucked up heroin addict from Scotland that can't even get out to score cos covid 19 has me scared shirtless so I'm kinda in withdrawal all the time.... A daily fix of the Troglodytes guitar show takes my mind off it for 20 mins or so, do you think you could send me a t shirt cos your doin a lot better than me.and I enjoy your banter every day.
I have the same guitar and have major tuning issues. I even sent it back to Gibson and still have problems...
jeez!!! the ebony is so easy to be spotted!! holy cow!
p.x.: have you encountered some gibby with the point of the "i" of the Gibson logo on the headstock that is strangly out of the line on the letter itself??
Do you know something about??
Thanx man
I like my guitar with some weight ti it light guitars aren’t my thing so will this work for me also got any other suggestions?
Near {real life detective} after 2006 it is chambered, and some before have weight relief. try to get an example from before the 2000’s
I would like someone like you reviewing strats and fender stuff or even jacksons
Since when do we pay more for an ebony fretboard. All minor guitar companies step over to ebony and maple only, because rosewood has gotten too expensive since it was declared endangered.
Please do a review of a Steinberg
I have the chance to buy one of these for $1,100. Im curious if this could be worth a little more in the future.
Yes, the new customs don't even come with ebony anymore.
HAVE ONE I BOUGHT LAST YEAR WITH EBONY FRET BOARD.
Is it for sale?
