In part 1 of casting to tailing redfish • How to catch tailing r... , I demonstrated the techniques for catching tailing redfish using a stationary target.
in this video, I put that advice to work by casting to an actual group of tailing redfish in Mosquito Lagoon, Florida.

My left ear enjoyed this video
Nice fish, Chris, nice fish. Congrats.
Nice info.Subscribed!!!!!!!
I wish I had this problem haha, awesome!
I can always land the first one like that, then the school runs off. Do they come back to the same spot after a few minutes?
audio is almost too good. wtf
So just curious what colors of the DOA cal you recommend. I primarily fish Tampa Bay area. Specifically around Anclote Island. Not your area but figure what works for you over there? I found pumpkinseed works good for winter time but need a good color to try for summer time sight fishing when not using the fly rod.
I use a lot of green holographic, bloodworm, golden bream, arkansas glow, and clear/gold rush. That being said, I am fully confident i could consistently catch fish with just about any of their colors. Casting accuracy and presentation trump color any time, in my opinion.
Here are some of my redfish colors ruclips.net/video/Og5Lyk6zznA/видео.html
@@CaptChrisMyers Appreciate it. I recon your right that colors don't matter as much but I was curious what you use. My brother and I started religiously using fly rods only recently and been having fun with the challenges it brings. I've always used mirrordine, split tail jerkbaits, and DOA shrimp for mangrove snook fishing on spinning or baitcasters but never gave the CAL a chance for sight casting the bronze bombers. I fish with my brother and it's almost too difficult to both flyfish so after watching this video I figure I can toss out a CAL if i need to while poling! I like your video's and they have helped me out tremendously fly casting. I'd like to get some lessons at some point to make sure I don't have any bad habits. Anyway thanks for the videos and the response. I'll give those a try.
With the amount of pilchards over there, I would probably start with the 425 watermelon/clear holographic or the 405 silver mullet. I use both a lot.
@@CaptChrisMyers Thanks again. I did get a pack of silver mullet, nite glow, and glow/holo flake belly. Should be good in case an opportunity arises lol👌
@@CaptChrisMyers One more question, just to clarify, you using the "Shad tail" Cal's in 3"?
Do you know any good places in Corpus Christi to fish for red?
Sorry, never fished there.
Swamphurt, i fish Baffin Bay just south of Corpus. just pulled out 2 oversizers last weekend. Check out Packery Channel videos. Some good reds caught there.
La Rosita. The Rose. Where the Nueces River meets Corpus Christi Bay. I hope no one finds my IP address. I might end up swimming with the fishies.....

Hey Sir, I was wondering what rod/reel you were using/recommend using. 7ft. with a 3000 series?
I was using an old 3000 size reel in this video with a Greenwater rod. I normal use a 2500 Daiwa Ballistic with 7.5ft medium rods
Chris Myers, Thank you very much! I'm from the Panhandle of Florida and fish the flats all the time on my boat and kayak but I'm currently in the Daytona area going to college and don't have either of them. I'm looking into fishing Mosquito Lagoon but I have to find some area to wade. Do you have any suggestions? Again, thank you for your information, it's very insightful!
From Daytona I would go into New Smyrna down A1A and into the Canaveral Seashore. If you go to the end of the road there is a good place to enter the lagoon and wade fish. You can also enter in the Merritt Island Refuge at Biolab Road and take the dirt road down the west shore of the lagoon and wade wherever you want.
DOA glow jig head + DOA golden bream jerk bait = one "deadly on anything" bait. Trust me!!
Do you prefer the Greenwater or the Pro Green rods?
Never used pro green.
how do you like the medium action for this rod and how long is the butt at the bottom of the rod ? also, do you think it would be the ideal choice for kayak fishing ?
The cork butt is 8" long. Its a nice rod but I have other less expensive rods that are just as nice. I think it is a bit overpriced.
Why do you ware buffs on your hands but have on short sleeves?
Back of my hands get burned. Arms have sunscreen on. hands get wet and sunscreen comes off. Easier than constant reapplying.
what type of gloves are those
