I always struggle to pick my favourite Jane Austen novel between Emma and Pride and Prejudice! Speaking of Austen, I was wondering if you have any favourite hero or heroine from her books and why?
thank you claire 😊 your videos are always so wholesome and calming and feelgood cosy vibes x (i also love paddington bear and maps) ... uprooting from your home is hard 😢 and simultaneously an exciting new adventure ❤
America loves you ...continue greatness... I try to tune in every video...totally enjoy your channel... and I'm just happy your posting more ..perfect...mini yahoo...cheers forever
You’ll enjoy The Lost Tudor Princess, I hadn’t known much about Margaret’s tense relationship with Elizabeth before reading so it is really interesting.
Hi Claire :) I'd love to know... (1) Besides Paddington, which other books feel like "home" or "friends'' to you? (2) What is something you love about London and York which you feel is underrated? (3) If you were to create your own line/brand of tea, what would you name it? Sending my very best wishes to you and Ben!
Q: Is there a period of history that you would like to start reading about but haven’t gotten round to yet? Conversely, is there an era that you have absolutely no interest in? Good luck with the move!
Maps, yes! I love maps, and have spent many happy hours pouring over world maps. I also love Fantasy books, so every time I get one I first look to see if there's a map 😆🗺
I really enjoyed that Alison Weir book about Margaret Lennox. I read another afterwards and Margaret became my favourite Tudor. When you are back in York you could visit Temple Newsam Hall in Leeds which is the site of her married home.
Thank you for the tea suggestion! They ship to the states so I’ll have to look into getting some. Where do you recommend starting for nonfiction books about Henry VIII and the wives? I saw Six last year and loved it so I would like to learn more about them but I’m rather intimidated because I don’t normally read nonfiction like that. Best of luck with your move! Can’t wait to see what your shelves look like in your new space.
I love that I’m not the only nerd who will be reading and think, “I need to mark this section” or annotate that. It does give the best of both worlds, all the fun and none of the stress. With loving maps, do you also love fantasy or historical fiction because they are more likely to have maps? I’m new to your channel but I will check out some of your other content.
What’s your favourite cafe in York? I tried to go to a different one most weekends of my masters and I know I didn’t cover anywhere near them all! Personally I’m quite partial to Wheldrakes!
Q&A question: What’s your favourite Shakespeare play? Being a history buff, I was wondering if it was one of his history plays. My favourite is Richard II. ❤
This was lovely & yes i had an *enormous* cuppa whilst watching 🤗 Abigail Williams' book is now in my wishlist (obsessed with 18th century at the mo) Coynies channel's great 🧐💙 Totally get the 'love to study' vibe- but without the pressure (annotate & tab alot too) . Good luck with your move 👍😊
I went to York on Tuesday and really enjoyed it. I saw York Roast and the York Minster book shop and immediately thought of you and Ben. York is lovely and has so many happy memories for me, especially with my mum. We went to Dean's park too. Which Thomas Hardy novel is your favourite and why? 📚😊
Gee I'm so late! Been waiting for the perfect moment to sit down and watch this, finally did so with my breakfast before work ❤ If I'm not too late, a silly Q for you to A: what are some of your favourite book to TV/movie adaptations (besides the BBC's Pride & Prejudice hehe)? Do you prefer to read the thing before watching the adaptation? Lovely video as ever, I'm glad that you lifted the 'imaginary barriers' necessary to film this because it's a delight! 💕
My first Norton Critical Edition was Jane Eyre. It was my English teacher’s, and she let us pick books that she was giving away. It has letters written by her in the back which I love, it helped me get to know a little more about Charlotte and what was going on at the time.
Hello Claire, my question is - how do you think moving to Yorkshire will affect your reading choices? I am wondering if your location might influence what books you want to read, for example, moving from Woolf country to Bronte country? Have a happy move, Teresa ♥
I’ve lived in London for a very long time, but rental prices are so high, I’m relocating… possibly to Yorkshire as well 🌸What are your favourite bookshops in Leeds and York?
What is your favorite book - fiction and nonfiction (more than one of each is totally acceptable!(. Would also love to have your list of favorite nonfiction authors. On your recommendation I picked up a Nicola Tallis book (I went for Crown of Blood because that's what my library had on hand) and am LOVING it!).
I have two comments that lead to 2 questions. I'm also a map-geek. I'm 44 now and when I was a child I would sit with the atlas (which took up half of the last book in the old set of Britannica encyclopaedias) for hours. I got to go to the Globe Museum in Vienna and geeked out so hard. My map question is: have you seen the book The Writers Map: An Atlas of Imaginary Lands? I'm Australian and I lived in London for 18 mths in 2008-2009. Before I left I said goodbye to one of my favourite places in London - The Saison Poetry Library in the Royal Festival Hall. Is it still there? Side note: I love Paddington. Even when I hear someone just mention that bear my heart melts.
I like to know what you think of Emma I haven’t read it just on audio .what other classics are reading atm? I love Paddington bear do have been things of him even though from Australia .❤
Hi Claire, just wondering if you have an email in which to send you the Australian authors/books recommendations or would you prefer I just add my recommendations in your comments section of one of your videos? Cheers, Cheryl (Australian Book Travels)
I had this on whilst I was sorting laundry and doing a tidy round and it was perfect, so thank you ☺️ my question is: what is the first book you can remember reading? ☺️💛
My Q: do you ever read on a Kindle? (Reading in bed in the dark with the Kindle is the best - I feel like a kid hiding under the covers with a flashlight.) PS I also dogear and write in pen in my books. It's not like it's a first folio of Shakespeare or something. 🏡I can't leave a comment without an emoji!
Are you still planning on pursuing a PhD? If so, what do you hope to research? I studied history, so I enjoy hearing about your interests in this field. Best of luck with your move.
Oh no I just bought a load of tea! So easily influenced... 😂Q. Do you have a favourite wife of Henry VIII and has this changed over time? (I realise it's probably Anne Boleyn but just for the record ey 😉) Also very random Q. Would you rather have Bernard's Watch or the Queen's Nose? (hopefully as a fellow British person you know what these are lol)
Please leave a question for my Q&A in the comments ❤
