Firstly, Felt season starts September First,,so nobody really ships felts in summer , we can’t get felts in the off season. But you’re right. It’s been very empty But things are going to change dramatically soon. We are in the process of remodeling and building shelves just to hold all the new fall merchandise that’s on the way We are about to make some very big changes in the shop. We will be getting huge quantities of inventory sometime august-September. Mostly from Europe, a lot of new stuff. We have a new manager who is bringing in a lot of new lines, and you should start seeing dozens of new styles coming out soon. As empty as the felt section seems now.. that’s how full it’s gonna be by September
I own six Open Road Stetsons 6X hats, all in 7 1/4. Ordered a new one and was out of town so I couldn't try it on until past the return date and it is tight. I tried a stretcher and you are right (of course) nothing worked. I just didn't have the guts to cut that wire as I thought I would damage the hat. Today, I decided a little damage would be worth it in order to have a comfortable hat, so I told a pair of wire snips and cut it. I didn't remove it, I just cut it. It took 3 seconds and instantly the hat fit with no further work. Thanks so much for saving my hat!
It’s not an invasive modification, nobody will notice. And yes, no need to remove it, just a snip. And then you can hand stretch your hat across your chest, or over your knee, and the hat won’t contract back any longer. I’m so glad it worked out for you !!😄
Kevin, It was a real pleasure and an honor to meet you! Thank you so much for the amazing adjustments to my hat! It fits so much better now. Look for me to return in September when the Stratoliner's come out!
He’s a nice guy, his hat was mostly just really tight. Wayne has kind of a long oval shaped head, so w the hat being a little tight, the sides of the brim were arching slightly instead of laying flat, because it was pulling. I had to over stretch it so it would feel comfortable, but also to get the brim to lay properly. I had to do a big stretch without it showing at all..and the Iate model Stetson Royal Dlx O.Roads are extremely thin. The felt is around 1/4 the thickness it should be, I hate steaming them at all. I usually like to keep them away from steam altogether. This was a really tough stretch but I didn’t really want to disappoint or insult him by complaint about thin felt. It sounds like,”a poor workman blames his tools” plus, folks are all huge Stetson fans, they’re damm Ed proud of their hats, which cost a bundle. so I feel out of place trying to dis the quality in front of the hat owner. But in the long run, the felt responded very well, there were no side effects,or curling of the felt,,and everything came out well. I noticed was the felt in the back of the hat was a little thin, but it is what it is.. the hat looks great on him..it looks like an open road should look.. and it fits now, so mission accomplished!
Kevin, I completely get what you mean about the thickness of the felt. There is a huge difference between the thickness of the 2 Royal Deluxes I own. You did an amazing job with my "problem child"! I would never take offense to you giving me the facts about one of my hats and any issues it may have. You are the Best!
Im a cowboy hat freak, from my grandpa then ny father and now me and my don and my grandson, my grandpa and my father would not go out of the house without their hat , i love this channel because even at my old age im still learning about hats specially when it comes to taking care of them i have a few and i try to rotate them I use them every day day or night but believe it or not i love to wear them on the rain the 30x patron is my favorite it im on the fence on the 100x the only thing i don't like too much is the tall crown i wish they would make them like the 30x patron now that's a perfect size crown.
Kevin why are there so few styles that can be bought on the official website now? I remember there were many before.
