The demo for the first Metal Gear Solid, disc came with Playstation Magazine. I was a relatively new Playstation owner (Christmas 1996?) and was already enjoying what I had on the console but MGS demo blew my mind. Disc also had a bunch of those Net Yaroze creations on there too, such a cool disc. That magazine compiled great demos every month!
I think a Net yaroze game was on that disc: a game called Gravitation. Was like if lunar lander had a baby with asteroids... and turned into a racer where first to reach the edge of the screen won (ala micro machines). Sincerely one of the best games I've ever played, and was free!

Mostly because I was like 8 or 9 and I'd never played anything like it before and it was just so different and I loved it. Never was able to play the full game till now though, through being embarrassed to ask for it for a birthday present and then wanting to fit it with friends at school who werent into RPGs and that kind of thing. Now playing it myself like 20 some years later and just at the start of disc 2 and loving every minute of it

@@tonge9 It's cool, none of them are missable and you can return to the areas in a later part of the game (I think it's the third disk). However I recommend following a basic guide to pick them up along the way as getting certain numbers of them will get you really cool rewards from the seller lady called Martel. I always use Almars guide, simple visual and easy to follow.
I would love if more games did demos as it gives players a chance to try something outside of their normal genre. Gaming can be an expensive hobby, and I'm often reluctant to branch out for fear I won't like the game. I have the Octopath Traveller II demo which I'm excited to try after hearing Rob being so excited by it, I've never really played that type of game before, so delighted I get to try it :)

Rob's excitement for The Legend of Dragoon was my exact reaction to Wild Arms 2 being released on PS5. Bought both the first day, looked at the Trophy List, thought this looks manageable and now I'm on my way to completing Wild Arms 2 again!
Not really a demo per say but Santus Christus trailer for Legacy of Kain Soul Reaver on PS1 blew my mind I knew as soon as I saw I wanted that game as soon as I saw it and I did and remains one of my favourite PS1 games ever made, if any game was to be remade or remastered it should be that. Now onto the demos I think it was MGS2 on the Zone of the Ender I don't think I actually ever played Much of ZoEs I just bought it to play the MGS demo like most people lol
The game that blew me away was AC Black Flag, my first ac. The parkour, the sailing. Loved it all. Also, lego batman 2, the first time lego games had voice acting
_Mercenaries_ on PS2 demo was an absolutely treat. Played that over and over. And while it was limited time, the _Monster Hunter World_ pretty much sold the game for me. Recently, the _Wo Long_ demo just blew my mind. What a game!

MGS2 demo from the OPSM2 Demo disc I played so many times. The MGS3 demo as well. Arkham Asylum demo at MCM back in 2009. The smoothness of the combat blew my mind.

Recently, a demo that blew my mind was Puzzling Places. I didn't know what to expect at all and discovered that doing 3d puzzles in VR is really fun! Back in the days it was the demos for Silent Bomber on PS1 and Gitaroo Man on PS2.
A demo that I was impressed with was the demo for resident evil 7 the beginning hour. Not only does it show how visually impressive the R.E engine can be, the demo is also creepy.

Never been to a demo event but I remember playing the console demos in GAME (particularly Super Monkey Ball), the demo discs on the PlayStation magazine and my most played demos ever were MGS and MGS2.
Back in 2010 when I played the God of War 3 demo and you fly up the chain of balance and immediately slam down into a giants eye but just before you hit him it cuts to the title 'GOD OF WAR 3'. never been more hyped for a game after playing that
Fromsoft gameplay + dragon age world (alive interactive world, fromsoft does some things great but I'm kind of tired of the lack of cities or settlements with actual living people in them ) would be one of my favorite gameplay of one game in the world of another game combo's.
The only times I played demos was for Pokemon Sun and Moon and for one of the Ace Attorney games. It wasn't really to find out if I liked them or not though but rather because I was looking forward to them so much I just really wanted to play them early in some way. If I want to find out if I might like a game or not and would want to play it myself I rather watch playthroughs on RUclips than play a demo.
I went from the Mega Drive to a Dreamcast, which came with a demo cd (when those still existed). When I tried Sonic Adventure as a 10 year old for the first time, I was blown away by how amazing it looked, compared to the Mega Drive games. That's probably the best experience I've had with a demo.
THE PUDDLES! Nothing has rung more true. I was also mind blown by Baldur's Gate water and that always stuck with me. Glad to see that strange love and appreciation isn't just for me.
Not the gameplay of the demo itself.. but the disc. Let me explain: Tekken 2 on ps1 had a hidden demo disc underneath the disc tray. It was literally a hidden demo disc for a game called 'point blank'. The fact that they hide the disc blew my mind when I found that out.
some demos come with continuation alternate starts that come with diffrent benefit and so are just multiple cut up slice overview of the game. and some are the start of the game.
Couldn’t stop playing open world demos until I got the game like .Mercenaries world of destruction. .Just cause 2 .The incredible Hulk ultimate destruction.
I played the Ratchet and Clank Jampack (i think? Maybe ‘winterpack’ or some ish been round 20 years 😂) demo as much or more as all the games I actually owned. My little kid brain lost it playing the whole game

I got RE2 Remake after the one-shot demo…. Sadly I never got far into the game cos Mr X stressed me out too much. 😔 I do think more games need to do demos even if they are one-shot type games & the trials on PS Premium are a good start but I’m surprised publishers don’t do it more often.
The demo for the first F.EAR game blew my teenage mind away. It also happened to be my first FPS game. The atmosphere of that game and the hyper intelligent enemy AI blew me away.

Wipeout on the original PS1 Demo disc. I hadn’t own a 16 bit console the leap from 8 to getting a 32 bit machine at launch was mindblowing

The tenchu demo on PS1 was legendary . So was the ghost in the shell and cool borders demo.
