Despite breaking navy parameters, these gentlemen are teaching us about old sub marine construction and interior. Mostly retired sub will be chopping to pieces to keep its secret which has out of date. These rare subject that you won't get anywhere. Except in city of Surabaya-Indonesia, TNI AL (Indonesian Navy) donated their glorious soviet whiskey type sub marine for city sub marine museum. It's remarkable u boat killer on its time. Broer Nov there is an old submarine kept on the beach at Visakapatnam in India, as a submarine museum, for almost a decade now. Just opposite it, a few years ago, a retired TU 144, maritime reconnaissance aircraft (4 engine, twin propellers in each engine) has also been installed as an aircraft museum.
Another great video. Just found this channel. I can't believe you're able to get on these subs. I've worked on V class subs in the uk which are huge but still feel very claustrophobic in some places. Stay safe out there.
As a former US fleet ballistic missile submarine sailor, the red light being on isn't necessarily a bad thing and doesn’t mean you’re at battle. The red light is used at night time when getting ready to go to periscope depth. Shortly before heading up to periscope depth, the control room and other rooms around the control room would be rigged for red for a short while to give the members of the ships control parties eyes a chance to adjust to being rigged for black since when you actually go to periscope depth the control room is rigged for black. Red light doesn’t affect one's night vision so you could easily go from red to black without needing to adjust and still be able to see perfectly. Since light from the outside can come inside the boat through the periscope… light inside can easily go out through the periscope making a huge white light on an otherwise pitch-black ocean.
What a nostalgic video... I visited this submarine many years ago when I was a child. I vaguely remembered the periscope and torpedo rooms. Back then I was still small, so I didn't reach the periscope to take a took, which was disappointing. It's sad to see this submarine abandoned, it could be serving as a museum or something. Thank you for this video, cheers from Portugal :)

The crew is probably larger than you think. Most Navy submarines use what they called hot bunking, one person gets out another person goes in. we still do this in modern sub today as far as I know except for officers or captions. So a count of the bunk numbers is not the count of the crew most likely. Love the show guys just found the channel little bit ago.
Epic video, they should SO renovate and maintain this submarine and make it available during summertime for people who want to take shorter trips in the submarine. That would be spectacular, even if you only cruise around at the surface. To see everything in working order is just a unique experience. To feel, see and listen to a real old submarine in action.

Wow dat moet spannend geweest zijn! Als je gepakt word heb je flink bijzonderheden! Ik werk bij de marine en heb een keer gekeken op een sub. Niets voor mij haha. Gave video weer 👍👍
This sub, the NRP Delfim, entered service in 1st October 1969, and was officially decomissioned in December 2005, due to advanced stage of disrepair. It was still manned in some sorts for a time, as it is said it was used for doning parts to it's sister ship, the Barracuda, decomissioned in 2010, which is posing to be a Navy Museum ship.
I can't begin to imagine how terrifying it would've been when inside a submarine with ships and possibly planes? dropping depth charges at you to try and damage your hull! Even more so a hull breach with water spraying everywhere inside slowly filling up!
It was with a submarine like this "NRP Delfim" where you were, more precisely, the "NRP Barracuda" than in 1983, during the NATO exercise, "Locked Gate 83", at the time commanded by Lieutenant Captain Brites Nunes, he placed himself just below the "CVN 69 Eisenhower" and sailed a few miles in that position, undetected.
What an experience, staying overnight in a submarine must be so cool. You get to see some amazing stuff, but boy was it claustrophobic in there! I don't think I've ever seen so many valves and pipes and they were all crammed into an unbelievably small space. The torpedo tubes were insane :D
There's been some very public problems regarding old weapons storage and security in Portugal. You guys just stepped in a media minefield and are in very big trouble, you just don't know it yet.
Exactly what I was thinking. Just for fun or not, considering what happened last year I doubt the Navy/Government are going to let this slide. I get that they love the adventure, but they broke the law and risk facing prosecution for a video. :/ Not only is Lisnave private property, the submarine although abandoned, it's still property of the Navy. Not having the video as proof might be a good idea next time. 😂 That said, I would've died after 5 minutes inside, I'm extremely claustrophobic.😅 Imagine if someone came by to close the hatch permanently while they were inside. 😂

No they are not ! .. First Trespassing is not a serious crime ... small fine is the top thing they risk ... then legally the Navy Must argue for the actual trespassing action ... you see the site and the Sub MUST have a No trespassing sign ... even like that they could argue stuff like .. hey ... we do not read Portuguese :) ... anyway no Judge, if they even reach Court is going to be harsh on these guys .
Actually they can and they will prosecute them ... Court cases can be called on their own country of origin. The navy said on the news they have press charges .. but consequences of trespassing are minimal .. at best they will be charged a fine. So no real damage made there ...

Very smart idea not to go into that small hatch with the strong smell, I believe it was probably a Bilge tank or something that is meant not to be usually accessed. The air in that tank must’ve been old and had other particulates in it which if you went deeper could’ve killed you.
did you have a way to check if the atmosphere in there was safe to breathe? i'm thinking lack of oxygen, at least that's what we have to check when entering enclosed spaces on ships..

Awesome adventure nicely done! Cant believe you guys slept in those moldy cots hahaha! Couldn't tell from the video how moldy is was but have to imagine it being pretty bad.
This sub would be outdated by today’s standard. The navy probably mourned it there with plans of future use but not active military service. Probably waiting to be properly scrapped though as they have to do it by the book.
General Kenobi! The submarine is being set aside for purposes of being a parts doner for its sister ship, which will serve as a museum ship for the the Navy of the Galactic Emp- I mean, the Portuguese Republic.
They can charge ... they will charge ... but trespassing is not a serious crime ... at best they will take a small fine ... as it is their first one in Portugal and they did not have malicious intent ..they'll get away with a t Best a minor fine ... if it ever reaches Court ...
Alex I would strongly recommend either talking to the Navy directly to figure out they were not pissed . My guess is the Navy will prosecute simply to make it a preventive/deterrent case ... nothing else there for them. They have other stuff to worry about more important then some kids entering a abandoned obsolete Sub outside any of their Military bases ... At best they are worried about anyone trying to repeat this stunt going inside and getting seriously injured ... Subs are a dangerous place to be if you don't know what you're doing... the video proves that right at the beginning ...
Decent Video of a post ww2 sub possibly 70,s 80,s They entered through the fin so up b4 going down usually. So hatch above sea level on surface. Ex submariner UK RN.
At 8:45 they are NOT in the radar room. It is a SONAR, subs have no radars. But you may actually put a few of your movies into theaters too and/or payTV...

In Cacilhas, about 2-3 Kms from this place, there's her sistership, the Barracuda, and she's outside the water XD , you might want to try to check it for a next time XD
You did everything right! Love it, be safe.
+Unnerum Klaus Thanks! Appreciated 🤗 saw the abandoned space shuttles already?
Not yet but subbed. I have a Trainyard one, nothing special and a few places around here I have to revisit! Your Dutch right? Quasi Nachbarn. Will read you around buddy, take care. Greetz from Gießen, Germany
Heel gaaf, ik heb een paar jaar op een onderzeeboot gevaren, maar die was al een heel stuk moderner dan deze. Ik hoop dat dit stukje geschiedenis goed bewaard blijft, en hopelijk ooit publiek. Thanks for sharing!
Dank je wel Rico! Lijkt me erg gaaf😬
Deze duikboot is ondertussen (half?) gezonken ☹️
Very cool ... Thanks guys ... It was a great adventure!
Really cool video, you have done an excellent job, congratulations my friends

Captain BUCKLEY(ret.)
Awesome adventure nicely done! Cant believe you guys slept in those moldy cots hahaha! Couldn't tell from the video how moldy is was but have to imagine it being pretty bad.
Vet weer....elke keer weer een genot!
Beautiful guys.
I am from where you found it 😃
Thanks for this awesome adventure.
Lovely the final part.
Best regards
Fantastico Video!! También me gusto mucho el del Buran Space Shuttle !!! :or favor hagan mas videos! Son SUPERLATIVOS!!
Didn’t understand a word, loved every second 👍
Thanks, new episodes are English spoken and if you would like to see other ones... there are English subtitles🙂
You guys are freaking incredible.
het zou wel lachen zijn als jullie aant slapen zijn dat er iemand binnensloop en ALAAAAAARM rude awakening lol mooie vid jongens
ALAAAARM!
Sinking alarm🫣 I guess the submarine submerged a few times now because of leaks.
You guys are crazy! Nice vid! What gear do you guys use like cameras?
+Rodrick HD We use all kind of camera’s, Nikon, Canon and Sony🙂
Great explore. The sub looks like a museum.
Great video !!!
Hi, I'm just here to say you are on Portuguese TV news
Oh, and our "Marinha" says they are going to process you guys.
Mário they cant if they are not in portugal now
They can charge ... they will charge ... but trespassing is not a serious crime ... at best they will take a small fine ... as it is their first one in Portugal and they did not have malicious intent ..they'll get away with a t Best a minor fine ... if it ever reaches Court ...
John Smith jes max its a few hundret euros fine but they are no longer in portugal so i doupt that they even have to pay anything
Sema mass video taliva keep it up
Geweldig!
You guys would have had a better time with a guide. I would love to have the same opportunity. Nice boat!
It’s not possible with a guide😌 meanwhile this sub sunk
Amazing, buy I just hope you've cleaned up your mess!
That would be the responsible thing.
I, however, was noting all the cool souvenirs to be taken!
Inserts das boot theme here
maximum velocity!
ALAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARM !!!
awesome film
Good video!!! Keep up the good work guys xx 💗
Btw yes subscribed and love the vids
Decent Video of a post ww2 sub possibly 70,s 80,s They entered through the fin so up b4 going down usually. So hatch above sea level on surface. Ex submariner UK RN.
I was constantly thinking damn imagine the batteries of those torches die
At 8:45 they are NOT in the radar room. It is a SONAR, subs have no radars. But you may actually put a few of your movies into theaters too and/or payTV...
