    I wasn't around in the 70's, don't remember much from early 80's, so my time on Earth with decent memory starts around 1992... At 40 now in 2023 I can say that the mid-90's were the absolute peak of America, on every level music, culture, sports, etc. It stayed pretty great through the early 2ks, went off a cliff early 2010's, and then went straight to hell since 2015. • @edmondlau511
    @edmondlau511 2 года назад +18

    I remember this game so well, I was coming up to the end of my sophomore year in high school and lived in Chicagoland. He had just hit the game winner in Atlanta a couple days earlier and all the kids had the 45 jerseys. That was a scary fall on the dunk attempt on Ewing, could've been a torn ACL and lost the rest of the following season for him. As well as he played this game, you could tell he didn't have the lift in his legs he used to. That bank shot by Scottie Pippen was insane. For a regular season game, this was intense. Nothing like the old crowd at MSG.

    • @ead838
      @ead838 2 года назад +2

      I remembered also thinking his lift wasn't there when i was a kid, but if you look how high he's elevating on jump shot, this version of MJ is still Air Jordan. He was just rusty imo. Also I think the Bulls really needed a powerforward like Horace Grant. If they would of had Grant or his equivalent (i.e. Rodman) this team wins the championship in 95' despite Jordan's rust.

    • @edmondlau511
      @edmondlau511 2 года назад

      @@ead838 Remember for the '94-'95 season, they lost Horace Grant, Scott Williams and Bill Cartwright. That was a lot of size, rebounding and defending they lost. Williams played huge minutes for the first 3-peat teams. If Houston didn't trade for Drexler for the stretch run in '95, I don't think they make it out of the west.

    • @beevee2312

      He was getting up pretty high by time the playoffs started. Took a few weeks to get that lift.

    • @billj4525
      @billj4525 Год назад

      Yeah, especially when he came back from baseball with the number 45. This was a great game where he scored 55 at the garden, but overall he was very very rusty and wasn't the same player at all coming back from baseball, and they lost to the magic in the playoffs. His speed and everything was down. He wasn't shooting well statistically, and was making defensive mistakes as well as many others. He practiced so so much in the off season that he was back to the old Jordan relatively fast. He wanted to take names next season, and prove he was still the top player by far, which he did. MJ took his bulls to 72-10, which was the best record in nba history, and they actually lost a game or 2 at the end of the season that they should have won for sure. Jordan won the mvp and the finals mvp, and they swept the magic, which was the team that beat them the previous year. What a statement by MIke. I think Jordans vertical and speed went down very slightly when he started lifting weights and gaining a little weight for the 91-92 season, and it very very gradually went down after that, but MJ became a smarter player in other ways and added certain skills and new offensive moves that he became confident with. He still had the same abilities for the most part, but he used them more sparingly from what I saw.

    This was a great game by Michael, but overall I don't consider the games MJ played with the number 45 the real MJ. He was unprepared and not the same player. It wasn't until he worked super super hard all summer that he gained all his skills and abilities back, while getting rid of all the rust he had. He was far from ready as number 45, but a year later he showed he was more than ready after taking the bulls to a 72-10 record while easily winning the MVP and finals MVP, and the bulls record should have been even better, but they lost a game or two at the end by 1 or 2 points that they definitely should have won. Jordans skill and preparation for the 95-96 season is almost unbelievable. He was going into that season with a mission and a point to prove, and he sure as hell did that.

    Midrange was absolutely lethal but damn not having to worry about a zone was such a luxury back then, hes getting a whole half the court to him with just one defender to worry about for most of these plays...

    End of First Half:
    1. Jordan with 35 points!
    2. Knicks lead by 6…
    The Greatness of Mike kept the Bulls in contention, the fact that he won CONSISTENTLY is a testament to how SPECIAL his game was.

    One part of MJ'S game I always loved is that he put serious elevation into his mid-range jump shot. No one could block it.
    When you see serious athletes in today's game, they barely get off the floor when they shoot shots... why?

    I hate GOAT discussions, but I think the main reason why is that it's just not close. he *mastered* the game, he played at a level beyond anyone before or since.
    I think Lebron's longevity is warping people's minds. as awesome as he's been, how Kobe was, etc etc, Michael is one of one.

      You have to substitute the shots hes taking not add harden and jordan averaged 37 and 36 jordan wasnt taking threes and harden was they were taking the same amount of shots and went to the free throw line the same amount jordan just made one more free throw then harden they both took 27 shots a game no team is letting someone take 30 shots a game and freethrows
