If Bob Odenkirk doesn't get an Emmy finally, I'll be hella pissed. Hard to believe he's a writer turned actor.
Him and Jonathan Banks have been nominated like 3 times each and have yet to get one, how embarrassing for the academy. I don't know how Michael McKean got snubbed after his "Chicanery" monologue, or how Giancarlo Esposito got snubbed after his coati monolgue. Rhea Seehorn should also have been nominated at some point, considering she is like one of the few female cast members and has been absolutely incredible as well.
I think the guy from ozark is a lock this year
Odenkirk has ALWAYS been an actor. He started in Second City Chicago.
@@Anthonycheesman33 Jason Bateman? To be fair, he's pretty deserving of it as well.
I actually thought he was a comedian, because I´ve seen some old footage of him doing stand-up.
This episode was the most breaking bad episode in the whole Better Call Saul series
- Kyoko - well said
That is well made comment. When saul wears the same hat as walt in season 2. it remains us about when jimmy made a reference of Lawrence of Arabia.
It's directed by the man himself "VINCE".. THAT'S why
thats what i thought.
the entire fifth season was brilliant because it captures the essence of breaking bad we could see saul goodman
Nothing like a good 'ol bottle of 'Davis & Main'.
Jimmy got his homemade OJ with him before going out camping.
he's saving water to help save the environment . that's why he never flushed when he worked at Davis & Main
Nitpicking Nerd yeah. And his concern for never wasting liquids reached new heights in this episode

Saul wearing the white top on his head is literally exactly like what Walt is wearing stuck in the desert with Jesse in breaking bad. I’m sure this episode even uses some of music from that same episode in BB. This is one of my favourite episodes by far!

Zhake Ija haha I just enjoy the clear callbacks to breaking bad in this episode and it was great that it was Vince directing it. Oh and because I’m a diehard BB/BCS fan 👍
You know the team working on the show is genius when they can create so much tension and uncertainty even though everyone watching knows that both of these characters make it out alive.
that breath mike takes after his first shot is literally incredible, somehow adds so much intensity to the scene
Yes I agree
super incredibly incredible 🤓
They did it right too he shot on the exhale, it's better to shoot with no air in the lungs because it is the same everytime, opposed to shooting with a full breath it's not the same everytime and creates a degree of uncertainty that you don't want.
Because Mike is usually extremely calm and stoic throughout the show. Only showing emotion when talking about his son but through every thing else, he keeps his composure. He's like our rock. When we see him anxiously breathe like that, we understand the true gravity of the situation
@@mastereppsreturns6586 Doesn’t he just breathe so that he can hold his breath and keep the rifle steady? My understanding is that that’s what most snipers do.

Nah man the space blanket was the worst thing that could happen to Saul
Yes it could have helped him but as the episode showed us Jimmy can take care of himself (in a way)
In this last scene is the space blanket that almost gets Saul killed
Why? Because it's shinny and that let the cartel guy spot him and almost kill him
@@pholiux1418 You didn't understand what he's going to do.

Better Call Saul may already be my favourite tv show ever. Yes, even above Breaking Bad.
@Paul Mathew No doubt
This is the moment where Mike follows him, instead of Jimmy follows Mike.

Andreas Nordvall That'll be because that's where they live 👀
The music really makes this scene. It perfectly builds the suspense and gets the heart racing and then the sudden stop after the wreck symbolizing the end of the immediate danger.
I wish they would release more of Dave Porter's music for BCS. It's up there with a lot of his best on BB.
I love the songs they selected in this show !! I noticed a huge improvement in the songs ! Such a great show
What I love most is the attention to detail. I don't know why but BCS and Barry are the only two shows that make bullets feel so terrifying when the sound of firing from the rifle lands a full second after the sound of bullet hitting its target. The sound of devastation following the devastation is such an effective trick.
I love how well the camouflage works here 0:30
It's difficult to spot mike in this scene if not for the hat
The Breaking Bad Universe is the greatest television show ever for me. Its writing, cinematography and performances are simply brilliant!
In any other show the driver would be shot without any damage to the vehicle and there would be an intact jug of water in the car
Simon Wilson 😂
Instead of shooting the tires out, I don't understand why didn't Mike just snipe the driver?!? That way, truck would most likely be still in driving condition so Saul and Mike could've just DROVE off...?
@@GoranThaGreatOne i dont its that easy to do
@E I don't think that's the case because both rear tires are dismantled from the red truck after the crash...
I think because the writers just wanted the element of being out of luck, in real life they wouldn't be lucky either.
This is by far one of the most epic scenes in the whole series since seeing chuck in the court. Just the fact of seeing Saul realizing that things are not as easy as he thought. The 2 main protagonists working each other this series is by far at the same level of quality as breaking bad

Mac dude how freakin awesome is it getting!
This was a great episode. I had a feeling just from how well the opening scene looked, when the car drives in with the assassins, that it was directed by Vince.
You can just feel this is episode is directed by Vince, because is perfection from beginning to end.
If you look close enough in the background you can actually see Walt and Jesses RV cooking up a fresh batch 🧪

Could'nt Mike shot the dude without Saul standing in front of the car?
That whole scene didn't make sense when it turned out they're not planning to take the car! Which also begs the question, why not?
@@freshavocadew They expected them to stop and get out, not to just run jimmy over. That's why Jimmy got on the road, I guess.
@@martinnieva8484 the editing doesn't say that. Mike start shooting when the vehicle was far from Saul
I initially thought mike and saul wanted to take the car as well, but once the driver hears the first shot, you can hear him speeding up because if he stops, he's wide open for mike to kill. so at that point, the only option is to take jimmy out as fast as possible, which in this case would be to run him over
@@freshavocadew Mike tried to shoot him at first but failed that's why he tried to run Jimmy over
This episode was so intense that it made me think of Chuck (before mike used the space blanket) , the cool temperarure of HHM and Kim and how far away it all is. The minute Saul had to throw away his ice cream in the street, felt like his break was over.
I can’t believe I witnessed one of the greatest episodes of all time like in 2020
An absolute stunner... I have huge respect to Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould writing this genius series

Imagine that was just a random guy going to visit his abuelita
He was in a real hurry to see her.
She needed her roof fixed.
Here is the beauty of this scene, we as viewers know that these 2 characters at the end of the episode will continue alive. But the narrative of this scene is great for the simple fact that even though we know that, it makes you feel tense. Saul was tired of everything and was willing to leave everything for everything.
and that's the magic of this show, we know the end, but it makes the trip interesting
At the 3:01 mark, gotta love an old-school revolver gun. So much more reliable than a semi-automatic. No ejecting jams or limp-wristing problems.

I see the space blanket as a shield from all the bad in the world. Chuck used it to protect himself from Jimmy, and now Jimmy has finally shed it, losing what remained of his innocence to the world. Mike was smart enough to use it overnight in the desert to stay alive in a harsh environment.

2:25 I can't belive that shot is in a green screen, it looks so clean.
Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul have amongst the best green screen effects. So many of their car driving scenes were actually green screened, but it's so seamless that not many notice or talk about it.
One of the best things that i realized BCS and BB, is how the autor build the character through the seasons. Everyone remember how Walt White starts and how he fineshed the series. I realized the same thing in this episode, that expression in Jimmy's face when theres was the shooting, for me was one of the bests in this episode, was marked, how he starts the series, and where he is at that moment.
When Jimmy says "Come On" as the Bronco races towards him, I don't know if y'all realize it but he secretly wishes Mike will miss so the Bronco hits him and he gets killed. Because deep down, Jimmy blames himself for Chuck's death, using Huell to plant the battery on him and all, and making Chuck realize his illness is truly 'mental', and driving him to commit suicide. Jimmy WANTS death so he can escape his guilt over Chuck's death, symbolized perfectly by him putting on the space blanket right before he baits himself, the exact same thing Chuck wore when he died. Hands down my single favorite scene from the entire BB/BCS universe.
Mmm not so sure about that. Although everything you said is 100% plausible, I'm not sure it can be confirmed for sure because him saying "Come On" could ALSO represent him desperately wanting Mike to succeed in killing the driver, especially after he probably heard Mike miss the first shot.
This episode was the pine barrens of better call Saul

Wow, what a shot!
This epsiode was really filled with easter eggs to Breaking Bad:
- The cinematography in this episode is very similar to the episode "Grilled" in Breaking Bad, where Walt and Jesse has to walk a long bit in the desert
after escaping from Tuco`s hut.
- Saul wanting to bury the money in the desert just like Walt in the Breaking Bad episode "Buried".
- They both have the same white shirt over the heads.
- In the montage when Saul and Mike are walking through the desert you can see a short glimpse of a spider crawling on the rocks. It must be a reference
to the spider from the train heist in Breaking Bad.
- In one scene where Saul is lying on the sand Mike stands over him making a shadow that looks a lot like Heisenberg with his hat, maybe showing how Walt is all
over him in Breaking Bad.
- The scene where Saul`s mug gets a bullethole is like the scene in "Ozymandias" when there`s a bullethole right on Walt`s head reflecting on the car, both
symbolizing something.
- I feel like the scene is a little bit similar to the opening of Breaking Bad: Walt is walking out of the road ready to face the police; Jimmy walking out on the road
to the car.
- The episode title is similar to "Cancer Man" from Breaking Bad.
saul's car door has bullet holes on it and there's a shot focusing it. That must be an RV easter egg
Many of those are not really references and as good of an episode as Grilled is, it's a bit of a disservice to compare this one in terms of cinematography. This last season has been in a league of its own.
This episode is the best of the series. For me
they are definitely getting close to the time when Crazy 8 disappears and a high school chemistry teacher starts cooking in an RV
It's wild to think that Jimmy saw two options when he walked out there. Either he dies, or he's free.
This is the moment Jimmy becomes Heisenberg
This was the exact moment Saul became Salem
This is absolutely one of the best episodes of BCS ever
Mike Ehrmantraut and his sniper rifle are my spirit animals.
Amazing episode! Riveting viewing. Definitely one of the best ever. Telling the whole story of Slippin' Jimmy McGill was undoubtedly the best decision Peter and Vince made as we get to this particular stage of his story while as Saul Goodman and find ourselves glued to our seats with the brilliant performances, writing, direction, cinematography and music. Maybe Kim is in hiding during the BB timeline and will reunite with Jimmy in the end. Hoping so.
Imagine Saul getting signal on his phone and getting a call from Howard asking him has he thought about the job.
The howard jokes are killing me
